gary mooore, evh and sykes were the ones that made me cry , I wonderered why so much pain for someone I never met, but I realized that they are the ones that made me decide to be a musician, they basically defined my entire life with his music, fuck cancer
Thanks Nick Such a great loss John meant a great deal to me The first Blue Murder album Has never left my playlist since it was new Such a hero of mine It's hard to even imagine he's gone May God bless his soul 🙏 One of the very best to ever play the instrument
Thank you... Sykes was the all-rounder with a beautiful singing voice and devastating on guitar.. still the owner of the best vibrato to grace this Earth.. thank you Nick
All I could do when I heard the news was repeat "No no no no no" over and over again. John's music has been an important part of my life since I first heard him in 1981 on Tygers of Pan Tang's "Spellbound." I was fortunate enough to see him with Blue Murder in Japan on the "Nothin' But Trouble" tour. I saw the show in Tokyo and was so blown away that I tracked down a ticket for the show the next night in Kawasaki (not far from Tokyo), and was blown away again. I can't even really be sad at this point, the shock is still too intense. Thank you, Nick, for being someone I can count on to keep John's music alive!
@drockny As far as I can remember, this was the setlist at both shows, although, "Thunder and Lightning" might have been played only at the second show. I distinctly remember it from that show, but I'm not completely sure about the first show. (I was a few feet from the stage, in the middle, at the second show.) Riot Dance Cry for Love Runaway Cold Sweat Drum Solo Bass Solo Billy She Knows Save My Love Jelly Roll We All Fall Down I Need An Angel Blue Murder Encore: Please Don't Leave Me Dancing in the Moonlight Still of the Night Thunder and Lightning
@@Metalhead_P Wow man you are one lucky person. That setlist is incredible. She Knows, Blue Murder, I Need An Angel and Cry For Love that's amazing. I wonder why John never played Valley of the Kings live.
Awesome tribute Nick! Sykes was a legend. Still one of the greatest shows I have ever seen was Blue Murder at the Paradise rock club in Boston in 1989. I wasn’t going to drive in because nobody wanted to go. I’m so glad I went by myself, I just stood right in front of him mesmerized all night by his stage presence, singing and of course his playing. I walked out of that club that night just wowed by what I just saw. A total pro and just an incredible musician. Every time I put on that Blue Murder album I get transported back to that show. Rip John Sykes 🎸 😢 🙏🏼
Man, I really appreciate you making this video. Great job, and btw your vibrato is pretty damned good, too. John Sykes means so much to so many. I play something by him almost every day. When he put out the incredible "Dawning Of A Brand New Day" video on New Years Day 4 years ago, I was so looking forward to the album that would accompany it. I still hope to hear that music someday.
Thanks for the video tribute to John Sykes. I heard about this last night and it just floored me. Eddie and now John both gone at the same too early of age 65.
at 75yrs old and playing guitar for 63yrs I've seen alot of my heroes pass.and JS was one of my favorites. on a side note I've never seen you play a lp style guitar. you need one in your arsenal. Cheers...
RIP 🪦 to a legend John Skyes! and glad Mikkey Dee drummer 🥁 for the Scorpions 🦂is doing better we almost lost him recently too,we need to enjoy these legends of classic metal while they’re still with us 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🎸🎸🎶🎶🎼🎸🤘🏼
One of the best for sure. So many great Riffs from Tygers of Pantang to Blue Murder. Loved him in Lizzy and Slide it in hands down Best Whitesnake Album. Not a bad vocalist either. RIP. Classfully and tastefully done. Bravo Nick
Brother Nick 🤘 man those tunes were so sick! I wish I could do my own backing tracks … I can stem out the originals but yours are great. Maybe I will hit you up for some lessons - thank you for this tribute to one of my guitar heroes - Mr. John Sykes! I always felt he got a raw deal in WS but he was still killer. Hate to hear the news. My intro to Sykes was 1987 WS as well but I think his work on Blue Murder sealed him as a hero to me. Vocals & guitar were just epic 🤘
Great tribute ! Probably the best ever. most underrated least talked about guitarist. Hope he can rock out with Dio they would of created something special Keep on rocking nick
Become a subscriber a while back, love your videos. Great tribute to John Sykes. I discovered Tygers of Pan Tang on with their Cage album just after John left, but I picked up the Spellbound and Crazy Nights albums soon after. I've been a John Sykes fan from there, I understand Gary Moore took him under his wing in the early years. My son and I was working out just last night listing to Crazy Nights. Thanks John for all the great music you will be missed in this would, but rocking in the next.
Great Tribute Nick. I remember you from collaborating with @jayguitar a few years back. Really enjoyed you playing some Blue Murder tracks. Don't sleep on that 2nd album Nothin' But Trouble. A lot of killer tracks like We All Fall Down, Crying for Love as you mentioned, I Need An Angel and Shouldn't Have Let You Go.
Ya , this one hit kinda hard. So f@$in GOOD !!!!!!!! Like you I got to see him with Thin Lizzy , and all the stuff,Blue Murder is classic ,but,” nothin but trouble “ The opening track “We all fall down “ just KICK YOU IN THE HEAD !!!!!!! Like everybody else we just kept waiting for what’s NEXT ……..now we know 😢 R.I.P. THE GREAT JOHN SYKES Nick ,I can hear it in your voice . Thank you brother 🔥
Terrible news.. Slide it in was my introduction to JS before I went back to his prior catalog.. Blue Murder was great as well..loved it. Great player..
I don't take too much interest in "celeb" deaths. I mean, it's sad of course, but it's usually no more than a 'Man, that sucks.' But Eddie's and now John's hit me a little harder. Think it's because I grew up as a huge fan of both. Felt like a part of my youth died a little bit with them. Yesterday sucked, for sure. Nice tribute, Nick.
Nice playing. :) im a lefty also. :) Johns playing and rock drive was LEGENDARY. As a guitar player that has seen him play back in the 80s and some 90s. HE was Soooooooooooo flawless. Know what i mean. He made it look soooooo easy. WE all know its not easy to repeat the riffs. Sometimes it can be ..but just wow when it was live. A real ROCK GOD. Steve Stevens, Vai...still our rock gods alive. Go see them.

Enjoy the ride man!
