    I drove all of the big three several times and came to the conclusion that Ram was the quietest, smoothest, most luxurious truck... (Which is what I was looking for) It will haul plenty of course but I mainly use it as a highway truck and do some light hauling.

    Matt: Two weeks ago I purchased a Ram Limited in Delmonico Red Pearl. This was my seventh Ram from Gainesville Chrysler-Dodge. My previous Rams were in the Laramie option but the whole luxury of the Limited model was hard to resist. Ford and Chevrolet seem to be obsessed with the numbers; ie: bed capacity, tow weight, HP, torque. While the Ram is certainly competitive in this regard, the Limited beats them all with the luxurious features, interior comfort, and ride quality. This greatly reduces fatigue on a long trip.

    The eTorque works great but does not add to peak torque. Rather it fills in torque at low rpm, matches engine and transmission speed for seamless shifting, turns the wheels the first half turn during engine stop start to overcome inertia, keeps the V8 in 4 cylinder mode longer at speed, slightly improves fuel economy, and regenerates "free" energy from shifting and braking.

      From what I have read and my experience with my new RAM 1500 and a traded in F-150 Platinum, Ford and Chevy reliability is on the decline, and RAM reliability and quality have greatly improved. For example Ford's luxury brand Lincoln was just rated the very lowest in reliability, Ford execs are complaining about warranty work costs hurting their bottom line, and new 2021 F-150 are waiting in lots awaiting quality checks. The initial build quality on my new 2020 is superb. Haven't owned it long term enough to comment on my truck's reliability yet.

      @@rondail5675 Despite really babying my 2011 F-150 Platinum Ecoboost V6 with only 46k gentle miles in 9 years, it accumulated more and more electrical glitches. No rear defrost, no power to sliding rear window (bad switch), cabin fan cutoff at higher fan settings (bad relay under the glove box), random intermittent turn signals not staying on, random wheel sensor warning lights, and needing to randomly reset the system by turning the engine off and on. Also had the parking brake freeze in the on position and an unrelated seized front brake caliper. Engine ran smooth but nowhere near the claimed gas mileage. With Ford increasing reliance on even more electrical systems and Lincoln's recent lowest reliability rating and the first year of F-150 major revision, I am very leery of Ford reliability. Ford techs are very good at mechanical repairs such as replacing a brake caliper, but not very good with electrical issues, especially intermittent ones. When the rear power window stopped working, the Ford tech said he got it to work once by giggling the window but it didn't function when I drove home. Had to research it myself and order the replacement switch. My other advice if you are considering a RAM is to online search inventory for the key features you need and not get extra gizmos you don't need that could fail over time. I got a low level Laramie trim that had everything I wanted but no gizmo overload. I negotiated an extended FCA 5 year 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty for $2,100 which gives me some peace of mind. I heard one can do better 3rd party. This is my first Dodge/RAM and previous reliability was far from stellar, but I believe it is one company that has focused on reliability and improved the most. I researched the all truck brands this year and decided on the new 2020 RAM 1500. Absolutely zero regrets.

    Love the new RAM 1500 but I don't like sunroofs, too many gizmos, or low profile tires. So I selected a 2020 RAM 1500 5.7 eTorque hydro blue two-tone with chrome grill and bumpers in the lowest level Laramie trim, 8.4" screen because I prefer knobs, and front bench seat (seats 6 in a pinch, can move from driver to passenger side, and dog friendly). Fantastic truck and highly recommended. Dealer gave me about $5,000 off msrp if you include the side rails and retractable rear corner step I negotiated into the deal. You can do even better now. I also purchased an extended bumper to bumper 5 year 100,000 mile extended warranty, but with the solid build quality I have experienced so far I may not use it. Bought it for piece of mind since every gizmo has switches, wires, sensors, and motors. Instead of leather wrapped grab handles, I did a paracord wrap on all 4 in 30 minutes. Extra grip plus paracord for emergencies!

      There is no denying that prices of these are high but so are Fords and GM. The EV Hummer pick up will be around 100K and Rivian will start at 75K. If you have seen any of my EV reviews than you know I love that stuff. Problem will be charging, range, cost to charge ( its not free) battery life expectancy etc. IMO we are still at least 10-15 years away from EVs dominating the market.

    Just wondering about gear knob, will it change gear while driving if you accidently hit the knob?

    • @drmitofit2673
      @drmitofit2673 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1. The dash mounted shift knob is not in the way and is conveniently out of the way when on the move. It's a much better solution than the flat folding 2021 Ford shift lever (in park only). 2. The shift knob is much bigger and a different texture than the volume knob so there is no mistaking it. 3. Volume is easier to adjust from the finger tip buttons behind the right hand side of the steering wheel, so you rarely use the volume knob anyway. 4. The shift knob is smart, so it won't shift into park or reverse when moving forward and it integrates nicely with the eparking brake if you wish in settings. 5. The dash mount allows for a front bench middle seat which is great for versatility. 6. The most used settings D and P are at the extremes of the dial turn so are super easy to engage.

    This was an ok review.. However, several things you missed. I feel you should know the vehicle before you do the review... You missed several things...The truck does have pull down steps under the rear bumper just have to kick them down... You can see them in the video! (Ya missed them). Also, you said that it had rear climate control controls... No it doesn’t, those buttons were for the heated and ventilated seats in the rear. Another thing I noticed when you were talking about the dash.. above the 12 inch screen you talked about trac control and hazards, but you didn’t talk about then self parking button (because you didn’t know what it was). You talked about the analog buttons for climate control but did not mention they’re electronically controlled on the screen as well! Again... It was a decent review but know the vehicle before Do a review so that you don’t miss things!

    What would make this the best? I'm old school and the prices of these overpriced trucks are ridiculous. The best part it's only the best for 365 days until the next best model comes out. The jack off that pays 100k for a Ram truck or any truck in my opinion silly. This vid came up on my TH-cam feed so I decided to watch. Best comedy I watched in a long time. Funny thing I could buy most cars cash. I just don't see trying to impress someone at the stop light high on my list. When I show up at the golf course with my 84 CHEVY truck I get made fun off from my peers. Who cares..but they remember that 84 Chevy truck!
