Yea it was the plank! Plants wiggle as they grow and they have little crystals that help them feel gravity. So the plank stopped the agitation on the crystals. So by securing it, they knew it was safe to push out a big leaf.
Yes, the plank absolutely will help! I would wager the support you gave it is what did it. I stuck a plank on the backside of my albo, just set on top of the dirt and used some Velcro to lightly secure it. It's attached itself firmly and is already giving me fenestrations with it's... 6th or 7th leaf. This little furring strip wasn't even meant to be the permanent one, thus its position on top of the soil, leaning against the wall. I have what I believe I've come to the conclusion is a Philodendron erubescens "Green Emerald" that I grew from a surprise gifted chonk when I got the albo. It sized up quite nicely as I kept the moss pole moist but it quickly outgrew it. I've been rearranging to find it a new home but in the mean time, the leaves have definitely regressed. I leaned it against a bookshelf for a little while where it attached itself and started sizing up again. At this point I'm debating chopping and propping it so I can make a new pole with two or three plants, but I'm also really proud of this lanky thing
Dudeee the giant pothos node was THEE video that popped up on my feed one day and it's how I found / subscribed to your channel. Love to see these updates
so cool. I love huge pothos! I’m in zone 7 North Carolina, the hospital nearby has a cool tropical planting indoors, I guess it’s like a greenhouse with how many windows are around, well someone planted a pothos in there and the thing went crazy, the plant must be at least 5 years old and it has mature stems and leaves just from rambling on the ground. So I suspect you can grow it huge as a crawler but that would take up way too much space. 🤣
the tape method made me laugh so hard, this plant is so cool! I didnt even know they could get that big! I was sitting here amazed at my leaves that are the size of my hand rn xD
Something that I’m wondering is will the leaves regress if they do not have a nutrient rich and moist moss pole to stay attached to? If it were to grow up a trellis or some dry pole (such as the wood plank) will that cause it to regress?
I had one leaf from mine grow that big in a window When do you think Pathos came to the United States? My mom has had one since before I can remember at least the early 90s and my cuttings from it are at least 15 years old. Sometimes it’s really cool to be able to track down plant histories Currently I’m trying to figure out how old Mojave desert moss might be but how do you figure out the age I don’t know 😅 same with the pathos plant
Just got a node in the mail that's about the same thickness but only half the length. I bought it from an etsy shop out of Tampa. I just prop'd it in a clear bin with spagnum about 20 mins ago and came here to maybe find advice on how long I should leave the lights on per day. I have a 4 pod octopus looking LED setup that's on a tripod. It's full spec and can do 4, 8, or 12 hr cycles. Any suggestions on cycles, distance to the prop bin(clear bin like you have), and light intensity? Right now I have it one click down from max light output and about 6 or so inches from the top of the lid. Thanks!
Also, I threw a humidity/temp gauge in the bin. Since this is in my basement, it stays a little cooler down here. After 45 minutes the gauge reads 86% and 70 degrees F.
Actually I have already watched this one 2.. Lol Thakks for sharing. I watched it again anyway.. Man, where to get such big Pothos to Germany? I would love a big leafed Pothos.. I have 3 small and medium ones.. but no Hige one 😃
I dont know how the EU works but it will be hard to import something from florida and hawaii, maybe like Spain? or southern italy. I dont know enough about europe but if you have any tropical areas maybe you can get it from people there?
Oh it DEFINITELY could be the plank (4:20), completely disagree with it being ‘obviously not’ due to the plank. Because you tightly attached the plank to the stem it is now being supported rather than having to support itself regardless if adventitious roots have attached. Final leaf size is also not determined super early-the leaves as I’m sure you know continue to grow during and after they emerge. If conditions change as a leaf is unfurling it can end up bigger or smaller depending on what changed.
So what is this exactly? A Jade or a Hawaiian? Do Hawaiians exist? I got a giant cutting not that big but it's green stem and a small amount of bright gold on leaves. I'm confused because I can't find any reputable places that have ever sold them so... I figure it's just a big golden pothos possibly. Any help would be great!
yeah just jade green pothos. as far as i can tell the hawaiian thing is just a gimmick to make nodes more expensive. the same golden pothos is found in florida growing on trees. its not like pothos is native to hawaii so its all the same stuff imo. could be wrong tho
still extremely invested please continue with this series!
Will do! its my fav update video to make
Same
That newest leaf is absolutely incredible
i know its blowing me away

I cant wait to see the future leaves!
Tip about growing on planks. Seal the part that is in the soil with aquarium sealant so it doesn't rot.
nice tip!

Same to you! God Bless!

Thank you!!
I bought a Pothos with super bug leaves this summer. Now I'm obsessed with Epipremnum 😍
yeah i love them too, lots of variety
Epipremnum aureum is my favorite house plant, and watch it get mature is something I really enjoy 🤩😍
Mine too!
Gorgeoussss
Thank you!
Also, the electrical tape killed me 😂 but I've used shoelaces and whatever I had handy so I'm one to laugh!
yeah i was laughing but I literally did it the night before a 12 hour road trip so i had to act fast
@@TechplantChannel Plant people are resourceful! I might replace all the chopstick supports in random pots... someday. They amuse me for now.
I've been using twine and chopsticks for now for my tiny pothos. My monsteras have bamboo poles. I'll upgrade them when they grow a tad
the tape method made me laugh so hard, this plant is so cool! I didnt even know they could get that big! I was sitting here amazed at my leaves that are the size of my hand rn xD
yeah, if you google pothos growing up trees youll be amazed the leaves are MASSIVE
this is amazing
did you see the newest video? My most recent one is related to this and pretty exciting
So that giant pothos video is how I found your channel
1:26 Big Leaf Energy!
lmao
Very inspiring! What light is it sitting under?
barrina grow lights

Hey do you think it will reach its fully mature state?
It was close when it hot fenestrations there's an update in the end of my most recent video
Try 3d printing a compatible moss pole you can attach on top.
I would definitely mosspole all m'y climbing plants now, even if they're not mean to be big, i'll experience a little bit :)
majority of the aroids we collect get massive if they grow up a tree or plank or moss pole
More than a pothos, it looks like some sort of upright Philodendron, like the Rojo Congo
right isnt the growth crazy. You should see pics of where this cutting came from you wouldnt even believe its just pothos
Where did you purchase? Can we get a link???
Hello, may I know the brand of your white color moss pole? It is very beautiful
Its a design i created and printed
Great job it's growing a little slow for a pothos
i gotta get it a better spot with more light

neat, then im really looking forward to the next one lol
I still can’t believe how chonky that node is
I have some others in a bin im hoping activate, i will make a vid if they do
@@TechplantChannel oooooo awesome!!!
Where can I find that 3d printed moss pole?
I make them but i havent started selling them yet
How is the pothos ar two years.?
nice!
Thanks!
Wowowowowow
yeah its getting pretty crazy at this point
that node is THICC
yeah lmao, i still find it comically large
What species of pothos is this?
Where can I find one? I would love to propagate one! #giantpothos
There are some etsy sellers, I got it from a friend who lives in florida and it fell out of his tree
where’d u get yours
A friend who lives in Florida I wad very lucky
where do i get one?
you can try etsy I got this one from a friend
So uh, hypthetical Q. How far (long/big) are you gonna let it grow? Will you let it colonize the room? or move it outside?
I will let it take over whatever it wants lol
I think this is the handsomest you've been ever since you made youtube videos.
What's the brand of your shirt btw?
Thank you for the compliment. the jacket was from costco like years ago im not sure it says "freedom foundry" on the tag

Pothos fenestrate?! I need more grow lights, more humidifiers, and more planks.
google pothos growing in tree
For the algorithm!!
always appreciate it. ill return the favor
It doesn't look like pothos, more like philodendron. 😱
Yes!!.i have one;each leaf gets bigger it seems. Name is Philo. Giganteum.
yeah i know its wild but its legit just pothos
That thing is ginormous! Lol
lol yeah its almost comical
you really just tapped that on there
reminds me of that japanses rope stuff
