Just want to mention using empty tic-tac holders for traveling spices/herbs (also Penzeys Spices has small glass bottles that are half the size of the common that one might buy empty or filled). Thank you for your work!

Thank you Tami for the video which I rewatched before going on my 2 day getaway with my non WFPB husband. I roasted bell peppers, steamed mini potatoes, and took those plus diced apples and bananas. My first meal was a wonderful salad to which I added some of my peppers and a couple of mini potatoes. My dinner was three sides of broccoli, potatoes and pasta with tomato veggie sauce. My morning at IHOP was a delightful custom burrito with the veggies I saw they had on the menu, along with delicious fresh fruit. That surprised me more than anything. Lunch was easy, I thought as we stopped at an unknown Mexican grill. I ordered a side of rice and whole beans. The beans were great until I saw the bacon in it. I carefully picked through the beans to get just the beans and tomatoes and onions. I never would have asked about a custom order at IHOP had I not heard you tell how you handled it. Thank you. I came home 0 pounds heavier, which is incredible considering all my food had too much sodium and some fat in it.
On a 35 day cruise, alerted staff of my special needs when we made reservations. Oceaiana line, met with Chef 1st day out, lovely things prepared for me every dining room dinner. Breakfast and lunch were more buffet and food court style. No problem so many choices. I was on "prescription celery" for BP. Every afternoon at 4 pm, 4 stalks of celery delivered to the cabin.

I am a backpacker, and have been working a lot on how to follow this lifestyle, and backpack. I have been taking my homemade backpacking food on airplane trips as well. As a result I have learned my lentil chili, cooked rice, really anything can be dehydrated. Put it into a freezer bag. You have to use freezer bags as the regular baggies do not work well with hot water. So....I carry individual servings in the freezer bags of lentil chili, pea soup, whatever I had in my kitchen before trip, and I dehydrate it a few days before trip, and put it into the freezer bag. Mashed potatoes , already cooked rice as my starch. I even purchase freeze dried veggies and use in recipes. I have found some wraps made from dehydrated veggies that are like tortillas, and I rehydrate veggies quickly, some mashed potatoes or beans and make wraps, sauced with my small California balsamics. I have a tiny palm sized backpackers stove. When I get to my destination I simply purchase a small fuel cannister for my stove at walmart or sporting goods store. Or you can heat up water in microwave if you have one in your room. Then, you pour hot water into freezer bag meal.
I will be doing this in the future for any international trips I go on with a tour group. Can be very difficult if you end up traveling with tour groups, say from church, or social organizations. They pick the restaurants they take you to....I have not been successful getting them to detour the tour bus to a grocery store....lol.........India was the most difficult believe it or not, lots of vegan food, just floating in oil.... also , very very difficult on a recent trip to Israel, ( lots of veggies, and lots of olive oil as well ) and even to Japan on another trip--very difficult--literally very regimented in the restaurants, in all but one case, I was told "no special orders" --salad for the most part was literally only available at breakfast, for the most part, they seem to eat veggies in small little bits, almost as a condiment, or pickled, etc. Soups almost always have dashi--fish broth. There are vegan restaurants in Japan, not common, but there are, but not on the tour bus routes, not close to tourist hotels. If you can communicate to taxi driver, I was successful on one day to find one, but it was replicated food, made to look and taste like fish....so....I left without eating, after a very expensive taxi ride. This was all after making pre trip arrangements with the tour company who said "oh yes, we can accommodate you, no issues. . But the dehydrated food is light enough, if homemade, quite tasty, and with international travel you can take a second check in luggage for free, as well as your personal and carryon items. All rooms have either a coffee or electric tea pot to heat water, or a way to make hot water for tea, and I simphy rehydrate the meals and eat before we go to a restaurant. Or when I get back to my room in evening. I take fruit, etc. from breakfast buffet. I have a backpack that has an insulated area on it, and I order salad from room service, and put it in backpack for lunch. This is what I did on my recent trip to Scotland, and was easy and worked well. You can even order freeze dried veggies , precooked flaked lentils and beans, potatoes, off amazon, create your own recipes into the freezer bags......wala.....dinner on an international trip. Just clearly label the baggies. I was called by security who wanted to know what all the powdery stuff was in the bags. Once I told them they were ok, but suggested I clearly label the bags so they knew anything powdery was dehydrated food. I buy dehydrated humus, etc. And my next trip, just preplan everything so I know how much to take. I will be spending 6 months hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in 2 years, and have a family member shipping me all my made ahead dehydrated meals to the trail towns along the way, supplemented with fresh things from grocery stores. But anyway, look it up on you tube, how to make the cozie, etc. find out how backpackers do freezerbag rehydrating.

I just watched some videos that are from 2009 regarding dehydrated food for long term storage. I think the channel is dehydrated2store and she gives lots of info on dehydrating food. Since you have that wonderful Breville with the dehydrate function, you can do that for a lot of your travel veggie needs, too.

Chipotle does use oil: Rice Bran Oil - Chipotle Chipotle - Rice Bran Oil Its high smoke point-the temperature at which the oil starts, well, smoking-makes it suitable for high-temperature cooking like grilling, while its mild taste makes it versatile. We use it in places like our salad dressing and to season our rice, just to name a few.

I got ruined for going out to eat at restaurants when I found a tidbit of meat in my garlic fried rice. Even if they prepare it vegan like you order it ..it is still cross contaminated with using the same pans and utensils etc.
