Being a Ford guy for over 50 years, I really enjoyed this video, thank you so much! For a very brief time, I owned a '67 Fairlane that was a factory drag car. I was told that "Fast Eddie" drove it at the '68 US NATIONALS. In the mid 70's, a guy sold a '64 T-Bolt for $1000, minus engine & trans! I was only 11 in '64, I attended my first US NATIONALS in '70 & I'd give anything to be able to go back to then & relive some of the best days for Fords!

Such a great video and such great times where everyone came together to have fun. Also a Ford guy here and I first drag raced in the mid 70's with my high school 70 Mach 1 Mustang, and today, still drag racing with a different 70 Mach 1. Thanks for sharing!

A simpler time, but like everything else it gets more complicated as it evolves and gets more expensive. I started watching in the late sixties and stopped watching in the mid 80's. I got burned out and the old names and their cars just faded away. I tried watching at later points but it just wasn't the same. It was too corporate and too regimented. Just like Nascar too.

Ah the lil' ol' thunderbolt, with the mild little 427 with 2 four barrels perched up top and the mild little solid lifter cam tickling the rockers which opened the valves dumping copious amounts of air and high octane sunoco260 into the chambers and getting compressed by the 'popup' pistons and then being fired off by the distributor and coil with the pertronix conversion inside and the leftovers being dumped out the 'factory' tube headers into the purple hornies header mufflers(dumps) and all that transferred thru the old trusty Ford top loader 4 speed close ratio trans. To the Ford 9 inch posi loaded with the lil' old 456 gears then to the 9 inch cheater slicks to the asphalt which it blisters as it makes a low 10 second trip down the Track topping out at about 133 mph. What a rush it was! Now let's put the brass velocity stacks on the carbs and try it out again!

What an awesome video ! I like how the pits were really open and people everywhere watching drag racing !
At the 18:00 mark where the driver says " you cut a tire -if the old man upstairs here with you you're here-if not you're gone.

Yes ..it was a great track..good times ...Folks would pull off onto the dirt turnout on the northbound 5 freeway to take a break and watch some racing as well...about the only place in SoCal you can see the nostalgia racing and the cars is at the October Hot Rod Reunion and also the March meet at the Famoso raceway northeast of Bakersfield ...and the Irwindale 1/8 mile had a nostalgia meet in i think it was November .
