Miles Wood. Wow. What an enigmatic, down to earth attractive mentally and physically. This was so great. So relatable. I recently met my father and yeah, I had a LOT of questions. Went through a similar experience death wise with my grandma who was more my mother but also experienced death as a nurse. Thanks for your frankness and humour because this is something we are all going to experience at least personally. 100% guaranteed. Thank you guys. Glad I hung around and listened to the end. My Dad passed away in 2017 also. I have only found in the last year or two I can freely talk about loosing him. He died from a massive heart attack suddenly. Apparently a few days before he died though he told my stepmother he was going to be worm food soon. He had a little bit of a dark sense of humor. He did call me though two days before he died, and we had been arguing the longest we ever had in my life about 6 months. He called and told me he loved me and asked how I was doing than he was just gone. Not a day goes by I don’t think of him or miss him.

My older sister died from ovarian cancer. I predicted the day she was going to die. And I was correct, unfortunately. Well also, fortunately, because I hated seeing her so miserable.
My mom wasnt supposed to be able to have kids, then childbirth almost killed her, and now I'm her only child

I have been thinking about this more since my mother turned 80, she is full of life. She is my best friend, when i think of her not being here i get so sad!

Yeah I started out as a healthcare assistant now a nurse that work in the hospital and the doctors are never around when the families wants to talk to them they are never there it’s takes days sometimes to get them to talk to the families on night shifts are even worst …. I remember a time we had one of our patients past away and it took 4 hours after bleeping the doctor 5 times for him to turn up to do the time of death and talk to the family … I know they are great doctors out their but I can count on one hand how many I’ve came across it’s sad 😢 the nurses do all the work and expect to have all the answer for the families when it’s the doctors job to sit and talk to the families

Really nice energy, Miles! I like how you roll! lol I can relate to so much you describe, as I was my mom's only child & her caretaker as cancer took her at a relatively young age - she was 56. I didn't handle it well for years after she passed - finally got sober, got therapy, got better. Learned to throw my lemon. Not that I think we ever "get over it" per se', but the drowning waves in the ocean of grief get further apart, and I think more often of the happy times than the sad. There's more, but I'll leave it with that.

I did the "what i call the cycle of life with my Mom as well." She cared for and raised me as well as my 6 brothers and sisters as a single partner, my hero. I was there to be with her to care for her and love her until her end. What a blessing 🤗🇨🇦🫶
My mom died when I was 12. I'm very open and eager to humor/dark humor. It'd be very helpful, fun, and healing, just like this podcast. I'm so sick of the grief and sadness.
I love nurses.doctors in movie and programs are so fake really they just just give the good or bad news and fill out paper work really but nurses do everything and smile the whole time even when they don't feel like smiling like humans do at times my mums Doc though I have to say was amazing he would go in just to check on her and have a chat even call on weekends just to say Hi. He is a good doctor and I hope when my time comes I get 1 just like him

Sad , but finding out you have siblings when you never knew you had any . A great way to end up marrying your own sibling. Scary thought !

Ive had too many family members do this woth predicting their owm death. My father has dreams of seeing people at their owm funeral and theyre gone within a week. Ive been a medium and seen the dead all my life but i held onto that because my grandfather died of skin cancer when i was 9 after id been SAed the summer before at 8yo and seeing him after he died (literally at his funeral yes it freaked me out lol) i held onto him his guidance and the gift/curse of seeing the dead amongst other things like my life depended on it.

Do you think if we knew for sure that we would die and be with loved ones then we would be able to fully relax and live now im really worried about loosing my parents my dad has dementia 😢
