Have you tried using dlss 3 frame generation

Can you tell me the tgp of this laptop?

Also hit that cpu with more fan power. That thing getting too hot.. 90 Celsius shouldn’t happen

Hi. What CPU are you using and what temp are you getting?

      @@ComputerizedCanada I have a 10th core I7. Cpu usage hovers around 3% to 15% at roughly 70-80 degrees Celsius.
      Gpu is a 3080
      32 gbs of ram
Also, install the new nvidia drivers, and enable DAR in your bios. Just find a video on how to do it. Good luck 👍

Yes I just heard about the new NVIDIA drivers fixing some performance issues in Starfield just today! Will update to that! Thanks for reminding me.
Mind you, this video was captured playing on a laptop (Gigabyte G5 - 2023 model year). I normally see 80-90 Celsius for 11th or 12th gen Core i5 processor with default/stock fan profile - as I want to run tests at the settings I think most users would probably play games at.

@@ComputerizedCanada understood. I’m admittedly not that savvy with this stuff, and completely failed to realize that a 4050 is a laptop card.

No, it's my fault. I've edited the title to say 'RTX 4050 Laptop' :)

Yeah this isn’t right. I’m getting better performance with a 3080. I think you have a bottleneck. Maybe the game isn’t on a good ssd? Try moving it?

      Thanks for commenting!
Why did you think this isn't right? I am genuinely curious :)
The RTX 3080 (desktop version I suppose?) should have nearly double the performance of this RTX 4050 though. I think it's very normal that you are getting better performance on a 3080 :)
Based on the MSI Afterburner stat counter on-screen, my bottleneck is on the GPU, not the SSD, as it's constantly at 99%.

@@ComputerizedCanada MSI initially reported 99% for me as well but I was getting 40fps at the starting mine on low. I moved the game to an empty internally installed ssd and my frames quite literally doubled, again; with 99% gpu usage.
I always try to keep my temps below about 80 Celsius. I guess you could go a little higher but for the sake of preserving your lore expensive equipment, just run the fans higher. They’re cheaper to replace anyways when the day comes.
Turn on the auto fan setting in msi and set max temp to 80. Should do the rest for you u less you have another software like MSI hooked to your hardware.
Also, I could be wrong… but a 4050 should be performing better or at least on par with a 3080. After all, one is a 40 series card and the other is 30 series
Edit: I stand majorly corrected on the 4050 vs 3080 comparison. I apologize. I double checked the specs comparison. I did not realize the 3080 was better. I initially ran into low frame rates that ultimately turned out to not be correct, so I though you may be suffering from the same. Sorry for making you worry!!!

I will check the fan profile and get back to you later on that. This laptop probably maxes out fan speed already and I am limited thermally due to the cooling design of it :( It runs really loud while gaming haha!
As for the relative 3080 performance compared with 4000-series, a RTX 3080 should land somewhere between 4070 and 4070 Ti, as per TechPowerUp's 'Relative Performance' chart: www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-3080.c3621 I tend to use this chart for comparison. It may not be 100% accurate, but it's quite comprehensive.

@@ComputerizedCanada this chart is a very good reference. I appreciate it!
