Happy Birthday Jose! If you catch yourself out without your fence tester, pull a green weed, hold it in your hand and touch the end, work your way down until you start feeling it bite you. You know it's on then without the extra zap. Dad used to send me and brother out couple times a week to be sure the fence was working for the cows. Take care and God Bless.
That’s a new method!! Thanks Tim! I bet as kids you and your brother would row-sham-bow to see who was going to test it huh😂😅 Hanks for the birthday wishes man!🤙🏼
Great to see your video and happy birthday man. We used to check the voltage using a screwdriver with a plastic end. Hold the screwdriver to the metal T post and then get close to the wire. The larger the spark the better the zap for the bears. You can use metal T post as corners also. They put a support T post at a 45 degree angle to the corner. Pour some water around your ground post every week will help also (gallon or two).
Thanks Russell! Hey those are some great tips!! I do normally have a screwdriver in my truck and I’ll have to try that next time I’m without my tester! Also good to know about the water for the ground. I always new I needed moisture but never thought it was that big of a deal. Now that things get very dry I’m encountering issues like these. Well thanks so much for dropping your feedback.
What’s going on man! Yes we are back! We are doing well and hoping to get back to a rhythm. Hope all is well and miss seeing you in our comments box🙌🏼🤙🏼
Use to get hold of the fence for fun when I was young, just take a long piece of hay and slowly get closer to the fence. It wouldn't take long and you could hold the wire.
Hold a piece of grass leaf and lay it on the wire about 6” from your hand. It mutes the charge enough to know it’s on without shocking you. Use it all the time to test pasture fence before climbing over.
I was prepared to touch it. Was trying to really pump myself up until I remembered I had bought a tester😂🙌🏼 Thanks for the support and thank you from California my friend
LOL Yeah man I have never been a fan of testing it by hand but now we do what we have to do to get the job done. Investing on a tester is worth that zap!
After talking to a few folks with experience with hot wires I did incorporate a total of 6 lines 5 hot with 1 ground and a grounded chicken wire staked to the ground
If you know there is going to be no kids or no dumb people if your bears get too bad you can always run your 120 fence nothing will go through it and what does touch it will not come back
I got nailed in the forehead by my fence. It felt like I got punched by a really big dude. My jaws hurt for about four hours. Never use your forehead to test your fence!
Hahaha They can be a nuisance but honestly they are a very cool wild animal to watch in their environment. What do you guys deal with out there? any critters that mess with the bees?
@@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper In the UK we have badgers that can knock the hives over and green woodpeckers who can burrow through the wood and eat the larvae.
@@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper Chicken wire is wrapped around each of the hives affected. Luckily or unluckily this only happens during winter. Then every winter it has to be done because it has become a learned habit.
Make the bottom wire a negative and attach to ground. Don’t use insulator on the tee post with the bottom wire. Now you have a bunch of ground posts.
That’s excellent Justin ! A farmer from the High Country also recommended me doing it just like that and we did! Appreciate you sharing man! Thank you

Best of luck, how are you guys with the Fire
I just came down from there and it was an ugly site😔. Kelly is working on that content soon.
May want look at installing a "dead man" on each corner before you try to get those wires too tight. Otherwise it can collapse it in on itself.
Thanks for that tip Tyler! Makes
Total sense👌🏼
Dios t bendiga amigo como está soy el muchacho de nicaragua q tal todo como está la producción

Happy birthday Chicken 🤣 HAHAHA
😂🤷🏻♂️Thanks Alex
Your fence will deliver a better shock if you alternate positive negative positive negative
That is how I did it. Works great.
I would add 2 more grounding rods. HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
After talking to a few folks with experience with hot wires I did incorporate a total of 6 lines 5 hot with 1 ground and a grounded chicken wire staked to the ground
Thanks for the birthday wishes
You didn’t pee on it! Be brave
Lol. We have to keep it PG 😂😂
Happy birthday man electric fence is not fun.
Thanks Michael! No they are not😣😂

Drop it like it’s hot! Lol yeah they won’t come back whatever touches that! 😂
I got nailed in the forehead by my fence. It felt like I got punched by a really big dude. My jaws hurt for about four hours. Never use your forehead to test your fence!
Oh man! That sounds brutal!! Trust me man, I will make sure I never test it with my head😅
😂thank God we don't have bears in England
Hahaha They can be a nuisance but honestly they are a very cool wild animal to watch in their environment. What do you guys deal with out there? any critters that mess with the bees?
I waited, and chuckled, use to grab a electric fence when I was a kid, then grab my buddy😂😂😂....... Happy Birthday...
@@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper In the UK we have badgers that can knock the hives over and green woodpeckers who can burrow through the wood and eat the larvae.
Wow those green woodpeckers sound fierce! I’ll have to TH-cam how they look! What do you do to prevent them from messing with your Apairies
