Truth: Jeff Hanneman ALMOST replaced you from Slayer, Kerry King. You came back to Slayer thanks to the underground metal fans who listened and supported Slayer.
I like Kerry King in Slayer a lot his playing is a key part of their sound… but in the end he is not nearly as technically good of a guitarist as Chris Poland, Marty Friedman, Chris Broderick, Glen Drover Kiko or Teemu. It would have been interesting sound wise having Kerry in Megadeth but that being said… I don’t think he would have lasted very long as lead guitarist in Megadeth anyways as Dave himself is far more technical and leagues better at technical and memorable solos. MegaDave absolutely blows Kerry away in the lead guitar division as far as complexity there isn’t even a comparison to be made really! … Kerry is however absolutely the Perfect guitarist for Slayer! 🤘🏻I’m perfectly happy things went the way they did…
@@gerardspringer8576 Yes I have heard that before as well but didn’t know if there was any truth to it but I wouldn’t doubt it. I’m sure they’ve all met or know each other already. Megadeth with Slash and lots of distortion would sound different 🤔 I’d like to hear it just outa curiosity! 😄
@@andrewpardue3324 yeah the 1st time Slash shot up was at Dave's house. My old boss knows Mustaine. The Mega guys. So far era. He was tour managing Savage opening for mega. He managed Mega cause Dave kept firing their guys. My old boss had to go to Rehab. Dave sharing his coke w\ ppl❄😂
@@gerardspringer8576 I bet your old boss has some damn good really crazy road stories , he should consider writing a book 📕 ( might need Dave’s approval to tell certain parts of the story where it concerns him etc. but he probably wouldn’t care and figure most of the fans already know about certain things anyways and let him write it ) I’m sure it would be a good read about an exciting time in Megadeth’s history. I’ve read both Dave’s books and Slash’s book as well. They were all great books. Rex Brown of Pantera’s book was really good as well. It’s not like Dave or Slash ever really denied the drug usage or whatever… and at least he shared! 😄 they’re both pretty honest about what happened. I’d bet there were all kinds of other cool things great stories that happened at shows and on tour back then.
Without Mustaine, there is no Metallica, Megadeth, nor the inspiration on some of Slayers riffs! Period! So all in all… Mustaine is 3/4 of the Big 4 in one way or another
Well therr was already a Metallica without Mustaine, I think people forget that actually they introduced him to a lot of the music that inspired his writing, and they had 3 Metallica songs before he joined. Megadeth were also never intended to be thrash and were slow metal until Dave got fanmail urging his new band to be faster. My point is they were all inspired by each other, James and Dave traded styles, Dave and James were big fans of Gary Holt and Kirks Exodus which inspired them and vice versa they were inspired by James and Dave in Metallica and then slayer were fans of all these bands too and they all had a healthy competition which led to great music.
@@deletedhero5579 Youthenasia is one of Megadeth's best albums. I would say if you took all the really good songs from the 8 albums in the 2000s you'd have 2, maybe 3, really great albums. Megadeth and Metallica are still writing good stuff, the problem is there's so much filler it dilutes the good stuff
when I saw big 4 behind the scenes it looked liked slayer didnt like metallica at all, there is a scene in a tent and it looks like tom and especially jeff are tired of hetfield when he came to hang out
Jeff is an introvert and likes to be left alone. The guys on Slayer have said that Jeff never went to watch other bands ever. When their show is over Jeff would go back to his room, or bus. That's just Jeff. Kerry is very social and likes to drink. Kerry and Lars reportedly went out and had drinks together a lot.
The reason Slayer never played Am I Evil is Tom didn't like the choice of song and felt the 4 Horsemen was more appropriate. Kerry doesn't like Diamondhead, but he said he was called away yo go over the footage of their show. Dave was there, and Jeff was doing what all introverts do, I know because I'm an introvert😅
I didnt like am i evil too but i guess metallica have chosen thay song so its neutral song, i saw that interview woth tom sayin he rather played four horseman but i doubt mustaine would play it as he written that song as a mechanix. Kerry is not on stage and i could see araya after the song for the photo, and lombardo was the only one playing from slayer and the only one talking amd havibg fun, so I guess slayer just never liked the rest. Even in 1990+ slayer never talked any positive things about metallica, they even said metallica is affraid to tour with them

@@deletedhero5579 I agree with you for the most part except their first 3 albums are thrash. If it weren’t for Mercyful Fate, Venom and MotorHead, we wouldn’t have first wave Black Metal. Let alone Slayer, Megadeth and Metallica
