I'm from Poland and public doesn't respect police at all. Police do a lot to make our lives harder there. They can't help you but if they can give you a ticket that is always the first option they will go for. They can even ask you for your ID without a reason and if you refuse they will take you to police station for obstructing police work. And now I see the same standards among Polish police officers in the UK. They treat public the same way as in Poland. I'm a foreigner. Ive lived here for 22 years and I know the law better than 95% of the UK population, why? Because I had to study it and I work in a field which means I have to use it regularly.

In every single case of police interaction that I have watched, as soon as you guys point out that a law has been broken by PCSO's, other officers or members of the public (i.e. false reporting) , the plods just ignore this and carry on with their diatribe.....
I don't think it helped that the two PCSO's are immmigrants.
There's a cognitive dissonance for them, because they are making a career move in a nation where policing has traditionally been 'by consent'.
Whereas policing is much more authoritarian in its nature where they are from.
Certainly in places like Spain, i think many Brits fail to realise that back chatting a member of the Guardia Civil (or doing the much loved 'you cant touch me' dance) may result in learning the Spanish for baton pretty quickly (porra or bastón btw)
40 odd years ago,the cameraman would have gotten his camera broken as well as being beaten up by the police-all done by white Brits.
Oh & policing with consent was around back then too.
In other countries,they haven’t bent over backwards to appease people,like Britain does.

And for sure, bad things did happen forty, even thirty, years ago by white Brits in an overwhelmingly 'white Brit' police force. And still do.
I definitely think you're right though, the bend-over-backwards appeasement doesn't happen so much in other places as it does in Britain. Why that has come to be, I'd like to know.
