They were not super successfull right from the start but with Lies in 2007 and Haru Haru in 2008 they catapulted to superstardom in South Korea. And they just grew bigger with each comeback and started to get international fame too. And this was before TH-cam and social media were huge like they are now. They really like to experiment with their music, you'll never know what to expect from them.... pop-rock to EDM to old school rap and everything in between. I think that is one of the biggest reasons why they are so loved by both kpop fans and the general public. Never trust a kpop fan who doesn't know Bigbang (or the other 2nd gen legends). They have a hand in everything regarding their music, writing and producing (GD is the one who started the whole idols doing their own music thing), they fund their consert tours 100% themselves, they design the lighting, stages, setlists, arrangements etc for conserts. They are the blueprint that other companies use to form their new groups. The band six toured with BB for years until they went to hiatus for military and the band has since toured with other YG groups, mainly Blackpink. My personal favorites live are Café, Haru Haru (acoustic version) and Sober (with Daesung on the drums). I highly recommend watching a consert, the Japan dome tour X 2014-2015 is one of the best ones and the MADE or 0to10 tours are also great ones. But to fully grasp the impact they have had, here is a list of some things that are normal now but what Bigbang started: - Lightsticks (GD invented the concept and designed BB's yellow crown lightstick, the bang bong) - TOP was the first underground rapper turned idol (turned into a successfull actor) - Writing their own songs and producing their own music (GD, the musical genius, but all of them write and produce). So now younger idols have the chance to make their own music thanks to GD and BB breaking the stereotype. - Different genres of music started to be more common in Kpop thanks to them (Hip Hop, EDM...) as they were exploring different genres and making variety of differend genre music. And started to combine different genres in one song. Like Bang bang bang. - Fantastic Baby started the EDM era in Kpop. - To have actual rappers in a group and not a singer who has trained to rap here and there. The rap line GD&TOP (and they actually have an album together) - Rapper combo with higher voice and a deeper voice and at least one deep voiced rapper in a group - Solo carees, back in the day idols started their solo careers only after disbanding, but BB members wanted to go solo and stay in BB. And they have done it super well.. All of them have a very successful solo careers. - International success. They were the first ones to have a real world tour, first international awards, etc. - YG made BIGBANG but BIGBANG made YG. YG ent is one of the "BIG 3" (or the big 4...with Hybe) all thanks to BB. YGE was extremely poor (like going bankrupt level) and a small company when BB debuted and thanks to their success they are now one of the biggest companies out there. BB was responsible for over 60% of YGEs income at one point and for some time too. - First mini albums - They were always themselves, goofy, weird and funny. So group members now can also be more free to who they are. - High fashion in kpop (mainly GD.. and TOP) - Crazy hair colors (mainly GD again) - The list goes on.. They've had some scandals over the years (some real and some not) but in my opinion most of it is just South Korean media (and knets) hating on them (they always have) and them being grown up men just living their life in a super conservative world of kpop idols. What I personally like the most about them is that they really don't give a f**k about anything anymore, they just do what they like the most and that is excellent music. With this modern era of kpop with the super conservative rules it'll be fun to see BB shake things up when they finally appear in the public again with BB or solo promotions!! (The world of kpop was very different when I started my kpop journey in 2010... groups were collaborating, male and female idols were collaborating, no useless scandals over every little thing and the fandoms weren't nearly as toxic as they are now, ah the golden era of kpop. I miss those days. Newer fans have no idea what they have missed out on.) I would recommend to start either from the start or go with the most recent MADE album. All songs from that album (except If You, see the tour report for this one) has an MV. Also they all have excellent solo music with their own flare. I’m a young senior, a 50yr old mom but I love BigBang. It doesn’t matter now what happened or what scandals they got involved in. They are also human & they’ve already been punished for the wrongdoings of some of their members. What is important is that they are here with more mature outlooks in life. I wasn’t aware of K-pop music until I took some effort to know what my kids are into. They love it & been following several k-pop boy & girl groups. I understand how K-pop influence my kids. There may be other groups that came before them, along side them but they stand out because their songs are very catchy, very relatable and when they perform live on stage they got everyone hyped. TOP the rapper loves Art and comes from a very Artsy family and help to create opportunities for youth in Art in Asia. They are all valuable and have Solo careers also. But as a group they are fabulous. What really makes them stand out however is their live performances- they are so lit man, you would not believe.

This music video and song has more easter eggs in it that the easterbunny at easter. Most of their musiv videos and songs have because gdragon has made most songs and hes a cryptic poetic person. He also leaves things in his insta storys etc. This song meant allot to all of them. And their is easter eggs about seungri (the 5th member who left) in there too. I love that. Also no one really know why they left so long but they went into army for 2 years, then corona happened for 2 years, and also seungri went to jail. I think all of this was to much for all members to bear, they probobly feel weirs without him there, they also maby found out while in the military that life has mire things than a stage, i think all of them has been soul searching allot. The band six toured with BB for years until they went to hiatus for military and the band has since toured with other YG groups, mainly Blackpink. My personal favorites live are Café, Haru Haru (acoustic version) and Sober (with Daesung on the drums). I highly recommend watching a consert, the Japan dome tour X 2014-2015 is one of the best ones and the MADE or 0to10 tours are also great ones.
But to fully grasp the impact they have had, here is a list of some things that are normal now but what Bigbang started:
- Lightsticks (GD invented the concept and designed BB's yellow crown lightstick, the bang bong)
- TOP was the first underground rapper turned idol (turned into a successfull actor)
- Writing their own songs and producing their own music (GD, the musical genius, but all of them write and produce). So now younger idols have the chance to make their own music thanks to GD and BB breaking the stereotype.
- Different genres of music started to be more common in Kpop thanks to them (Hip Hop, EDM...) as they were exploring different genres and making variety of differend genre music. And started to combine different genres in one song. Like Bang bang bang.
- Fantastic Baby started the EDM era in Kpop.
- To have actual rappers in a group and not a singer who has trained to rap here and there. The rap line GD&TOP (and they actually have an album together)
- Rapper combo with higher voice and a deeper voice and at least one deep voiced rapper in a group
- Solo carees, back in the day idols started their solo careers only after disbanding, but BB members wanted to go solo and stay in BB. And they have done it super well.. All of them have a very successful solo careers.
- International success. They were the first ones to have a real world tour, first international awards, etc.
- YG made BIGBANG but BIGBANG made YG. YG ent is one of the "BIG 3" (or the big 4...with Hybe) all thanks to BB. YGE was extremely poor (like going bankrupt level) and a small company when BB debuted and thanks to their success they are now one of the biggest companies out there. BB was responsible for over 60% of YGEs income at one point and for some time too.
- First mini albums
- They were always themselves, goofy, weird and funny. So group members now can also be more free to who they are.
- High fashion in kpop (mainly GD.. and TOP)
- Crazy hair colors (mainly GD again)
- The list goes on..
They've had some scandals over the years (some real and some not) but in my opinion most of it is just South Korean media (and knets) hating on them (they always have) and them being grown up men just living their life in a super conservative world of kpop idols.
What I personally like the most about them is that they really don't give a f**k about anything anymore, they just do what they like the most and that is excellent music. With this modern era of kpop with the super conservative rules it'll be fun to see BB shake things up when they finally appear in the public again with BB or solo promotions!! (The world of kpop was very different when I started my kpop journey in 2010... groups were collaborating, male and female idols were collaborating, no useless scandals over every little thing and the fandoms weren't nearly as toxic as they are now, ah the golden era of kpop. I miss those days. Newer fans have no idea what they have missed out on.)
I would recommend to start either from the start or go with the most recent MADE album. All songs from that album (except If You, see the tour report for this one) has an MV. Also they all have excellent solo music with their own flare. Please check out Daesung (D-Lite) - Anymore (live Japan dome tour 2017), G-Dragon - Crooked or Coup d'Etat, Seungri - 1,2,3!, Taeyang - 1AM or Eyes, Nose, Lips and TOP - Doom Dada (MV or live from 0to10 tour) for starters.
They are hilarious people so variety shows are a must: Happy together, weekly idol, Radio Star, all the Running Man episodes with BB are golden, Run Bigbang Scout and the MADE movie.
You really need to know the history of bigbang to appreciate this song. The lyrics are so heavy and just reflect everything they’ve been through and what we’ve been through with them. They’re kpop legends. They introduced a lot of the kpop concepts you see today. Mainstreamed so many things.
Bro, to be honest you missed a lot. Before there was BTS their was BigBang. Guys I’m not comparing just stating facts. Both a VIP and an ARMY here 🙋🏻♀️ BTS changed the system by calling out the system and talking about social issues that were not talked about. BigBang changed the system because they gave idols creative power and freedom. BigBang were one of the first Bands to write their own songs, to produce their own songs. That’s why you never could predict their comebacks. That’s what made them stand out. Their is a thing that’s called „the GD effect“ were everything GD (guy with colorful and long hair) does and wears becomes a trend in Korea. Every single time. And let’s not forget how they said f u to the whole „don’t party, don’t date“ thing. That was refreshing 😂 They literally inspired the whole 3. generation of Kpop. That’s the impact they have in music.
They went on hiatus because of the military service which is mandatory for every man in Korea. Then scandals happened again. There was a high possibility that they wouldn’t even come back because the general public in Korea didn’t want them to comeback. (Let’s be honest there is a high possibility that this is their last song as well 😭) That’s why this song is for VIPs only. Their label didn’t promote the song and they will not promote it in Korea. It is just a release now that the flowers have bloomed 🌸🌼🌸
If I were you I would listen to their songs. Some songs that hit different is literally every song from their album Made, Fantastic Baby, Monster, Haru Haru.

They had mandatory military due to age differences it was staggered instead of all in at once. One had issues to handle so retired. That's why there are four instead of the five. (in order of appearance on Still Life). Most know them from their loud hits. Bang Bang Bang, Fantastic Baby, FXXk It.. I actually love their Ballads as much maybe more.

This song means a lot to VIPS, not sure if this will be their last song or they'll continue to release more songs soon as BIGBANG (i wish huhu) But what I'm sure of is that this song is for BIGBANG and VIPS, they comeback for those who stay and for those who come to love, support, wait, and accept them.
I’m a young senior, a 50yr old mom but I love BigBang. It doesn’t matter now what happened or what scandals they got involved in. They are also human & they’ve already been punished for the wrongdoings of some of their members. What is important is that they are here with more mature outlooks in life.
I wasn’t aware of K-pop music until I took some effort to know what my kids are into. They love it & been following several k-pop boy & girl groups. I understand how K-pop influence my kids.
There may be other groups that came before them, along side them but they stand out because their songs are very catchy, very relatable and when they perform live on stage they got everyone hyped. Beautiful faces with beautiful voices. Even most famous global kpop bands now idolizes them, they looked up to their hyungs BigBang❤️❤️❤️

BIg Bang are the KINGS OF KPOP. They started in 2006 and they did everything that the new Kpop artist are doing today first. They created the first lightstick, which is what the fans wave about in concerts. They also started Kpop fasion trend.... the dances - although they no longer have to show off their dancing skills - they can still dance. They were the first Kpop group to write and compose their own songs, do their own MV;s, direct, act - you name it. They were also the firsst to get diferent hair colours etc... when South Korea was then and today such a conservative country. They have tattoo's and thats a no-no in Korea. They can perform songs from ballads to rap to Trot, to RnB - everything and they have done this in their musical careers. G Dragon who is the leader of this group and the guy with the colorful red hair is the undisputed King of Kpop. He writes most of their songs etc....and for others however he has been in the entertainment industry since he was 8 years old and is now 33. he has been performing for over 26 years. He also has collaborated with Nike and has 3 shoes produced for him alone. Air force ones He is THE Asian fashion icon also. TOP the rapper loves Art and comes from a very Artsy family and help to create opportunities for youth in Art in Asia. They are all valuable and have Solo careers also. But as a group they are fabulous. What really makes them stand out however is their live performances- they are so lit man, you would not believe.

Bigbang is a 5 member 2nd gen kpop group. Debuted in August 19, 2006. The OGs, the goats. Consist of G-DRAGON (the leader), with members T.O.P, TAEYANG, DAESUNG and SEUNGRI (retired from music industry and left bigbang due to unwanted circumstances). They were on hiatus for 4 years. Their last comeback was 2018 with Flower Road.

This music video and song has more easter eggs in it that the easterbunny at easter. Most of their musiv videos and songs have because gdragon has made most songs and hes a cryptic poetic person. He also leaves things in his insta storys etc. This song meant allot to all of them. And their is easter eggs about seungri (the 5th member who left) in there too. I love that.
Also no one really know why they left so long but they went into army for 2 years, then corona happened for 2 years, and also seungri went to jail. I think all of this was to much for all members to bear, they probobly feel weirs without him there, they also maby found out while in the military that life has mire things than a stage, i think all of them has been soul searching allot. Gd and tae has been doing music since they were 13...they never really got to grow up like normal people...maby thats what theyre doing now, trying to find who they are outside of bigbang.

The music scene has been empty without BigBang's music. They are real artists. These 16 years since debut have been happy and equaly hard. There has been huge success but also pain and hate . You will hear a lot about their "scandals" but only fans know about all the bad shit they had to endure . Highly recommend you watch a lyric video of the song Still Alive and their performance at MAMA Awards 2015 . It will help you understand BB a little better .
Hopefully this is not their last comeback as big bang “the king of kpop” legends. But since TOP wants to leave YG entertainment and 1 of the other member is serving time in prison “the biggest south korean scandal ever in history” , it will be really hard for several future comebacks; could possibly be their last.
