No doubt about it GOD put Hunter in the right family, and with the right parents!! Thank you so much for including him in the video. He's a very unique guy i can tell , you all are blessed by having him, as i am by being able to enjoy him being in the video's. Happy EASTER to you all.
Mike and Melissa, y'all are wonderful parents and are clearly raising your children right. Your love for each other is evident and your love for laughter is appreciated! Hunter...the jammies and slippers really are the only way to go. I say wear them anywhere you want to! Keep being magnificent, wonderful Y-O-U!
I’m new to the channel and originally from Gibsonia. I also shoot sporting clays and love it. Now I’m stuck in NY. You and your family are like a breath of fresh air and love these videos.
Great idea in the horizontal Square frame... May of been better to build two ontop of each other so you can slide a upper and a lower one up. That said I think that will work great for a run-in we will be building this spring too. It was awsome to see Hunter come out... So great... You can see he likes being included when your wife waved away the bees and Hunter charged right out there. Your doing a great job Hunter. Thank you for participating and being some great on communicating. 👍 😊. Our son, Ryan, jumps into his PJs to relax when home too.
You let Hunter know I also wear my slippers outside. I have been known to go to town with them on too. And once headed to work with them on, I had to turn around and go get my work shoes. Also it warms the heart to see him show affection to his mother. A true gentleman 🙂
Hey Hunter, wear what you like to the woods. You really looked comfortable. Maybe I will change my thinking on my next walk in the woods. Always nice to see you on the video's.
MIKE, did I catch a little bit of a smile at the end? HUNTER, ! lookin good in "Black n Gold" ! Great idea bout setting the posts with that "picture frame"! Good set up if you had to move it due to a hole that had issues (big rock). No time wasted digging/ resetting batten boards an string for square! Thanks, learned alot!
wish I lived close to you, I really would love to help you out, at 75 years young I love the country, all I do for fun is ride my bike off into the country, I turned in my driver's license for s peddle bike, I went to the last one-room schoolhouses in CT there was 8 grades at the time of closing in 1957 . You and the wife make me happy, Thanks
Mike. This was a great video. I’m building a small pool deck tomorrow and I’m going to use the same method. Thanks for the idea. I have a disabled son and it is always such a blessing to see Hunter. Hunter kissing Melissa’s arm is such a wonderful sign of affection. It’s like he’s saying, “Thanks for caring for me all of these years Mom - you’re the best”.
Hello to Hunter from west central Georgia! Comfy in the woods Mr. Hunter! Your the man. Thanks for including Hunter. Look forward to seeing him interact more with us. God Bless You All!
I’ve been waiting for this video series since the day you mentioned box blind. I still can’t fathom an 8x8. I have a couple that are 4x4 and 4x6. Plenty big enough for two. When you go bigger, for me anyway, you need to move around a lot more to see out in every direction. At any rate I can’t wait to see it when finished. I do know for sure it will be built to perfection with no detail spared. I’m going to build one more this year on my Pa piece, maybe you’ll give me a great idea for mine. I’m sure Hunter will love hanging out in the blind as well. Anxiously awaiting.
Hunter brightens every scene he's in! It is casual Friday, you know. I'm not in favor of cement around the posts. My opinion is to not feed the bugs. Pour the cement in the holes and set the poles in brackets on top of the cement. The same method now commonly used for pole barns. Should a pole become damaged it is easy to replace and the creepy crawlly things can't eat cement. Tell Hunter "Hi! from Rhode Island. BTW Burger King grilled chicken sandwiches are my favorite, too. Had one today, mmmm, good!
If you think those posts are heavy now , just wait until you are in your 70s. Happy to see Hunter again. My grandson who is also autistic loves to get birthday cards. I would live to send Hunter a birthday card----talk it over with the family and I am sure the TH-cam family would pitch in too. Happy spring , the snow and ice are gone in Southern Vermont.
Hello to Hunter from northeast Minnesota. Now with the first post squared and straight I would have set it in concrete and let it set overnight. Agree with using dry concrete mix around the post and then pouring in some water.
Great job here Mike... I appreciate the way you are thinking outside the box getting the posts set in place, well done... Up here in the north country of N. Central VT., the frost can run pretty deep. ( 3' - 5' ) I picked up this trick from an ole timer that was bldg. his camp on posts set on concrete footings. Some scraps of 2" thermal blue board cut to fit the round holes were packed in place first, then the concrete was poured into the holes & then set to grade. It will never be seen, but it does act as a thermal barrier, helps prevent frost heaving. I don't think this will be an issue in your part of the woods. Great to see Melissa & Hunter out & about too... Bill... :~)
I am from Gage, Oklahoma way out at the east end of the panhandle of Oklahoma.Hunter looks like a very lovable person.I love watching your videos because you look like a jack of all trades and master of most of the trades.I love the way you explain your equipment also.
That is a really clever idea for setting the posts and I like that corner level, It is going to be a good structure whatever it's use. The post hole digger works well and that grapple is just so useful. Good to see Hunter in a supervisory role and making sure his Ma is safe. Looking forward to the rest of the build.
Good to see you Hunter, hoping you're having a wonderful day with your family.Much love from our family to yours have a great Easter weekend. Great video can't wait to see what the end of that looks like
Interesting way to square up your building. Enjoy seeing Hunter, and Melissa. Now I know where all the good weather is, cause it sure ain't no count here in Alabama, rain, wind storms, repeat... Also wouldn't worry about it being too big, once you get your stuff in there all that room will disappear, and it can be a nice cozy place for you and the wife.
Hey Mike Melissa and Hunter, good to see Hunter out in the woods with you folks. Always enjoy seeing him in the videos with everyone. Cool way you squared the post up and held them in place at the same time. Thanks for sharing this project with everyone.
Glad to see Hunter. I've heard you talk about him but just saw him the in the last few videos. He likes his mom for sure. I have a disabled daughter and she has added so much love to our family. Melissa's exercises are paying off. (I hope that was tastefully said.) :-)
I just love watching your videos you have taught me a lot I am planning on buying me a RK tractor since I've been watching your videos I have learned a lot about The RK tractors going to give me rk24 rar k37 keep the good work up and be saved in the woods and God bless your family I wish you would put Hunter on your videos more often Hunter is a good guy I do not like when people says bad things about Hunter it is not right to talk about other people and I thank you for giving me the arc a website so I could follow up on more tractors that has been a lot of Health thank you again God bless and be safe.
Love seeing Hunter, he is special to us all, glad to hear BK is still his favourite, I think they are better in the States than here in the UK, please give him my best wishes, ok, can you ask Hunter what the thinks of turkey sandwiches!?
Perfect timing for the framing technique. I'm building a new she'd now and just bought a post hole digger for my tractor. Thanks. Say hello to Hunter from Leesburg Virginia. I have 2 nephews like him.
Love seeing how you and your family are. I am do for a hip replacement surgery and haven't been able to work on the property like I want to you help me stay positive. I love seeing Hunter. Some of your best videos I think are when you involve your family.
Hunter is AWESOME! So funny just to watch his expressions. Way to look out for Mom Hunter!!!Mike, excellent idea using the 2x4's. Like you I'm usually doing projects by myself and it's a challenge to square something up. Noticed how wet some of the soil was when you drilled the holes. Hard to believe it's that wet on top of the knoll like that.
Hi ... greetings from Connecticut. Love the videos! My husband noted how MIke has a PhD (post hole digger) LOLOL! Having the right tool for the job makes all the difference. Looking forward to the tower blind build.
Hello to Hunter from East Centrai MN. Full moon tonight, lots to see out there after dark! Oh yeah, good work Mike! Way to muscle those posts into the holes👏👏
Nice start for the blind. 8'x8' will be right. I have 2 8'x8' "condo" blinds and the extra room gets taken up quickly when you have multiple hunters. Hope you install stairs and not a ladder access. Stairs make entry so much easier for younger hunters down the road when you get little hunting buddies. Hunter will be able to access easier in his slippers. Since Hunter was featured in the birth of the blind, you need to have him christen it the Morgan Mansion with a bottle of pop when it is complete. Calling it Hunter's Hunting Haven is another name that came to mind. You may want to open it up to other suggestions and a vote for naming the blind.
Now I've built my fair share of decks and I just loved the way you dug those holes with the machine. I also have to love the soil that you're digging in; here in Rockland County, NYS we've got hublas every 18 inches all the way down to four feet! Nice work, great video.
love the videos Mike!! I'm a hard working guy like you and its great to see someone that shares a love for hard work and the outdoors and is willing to share it with the world. Keep up the videos we all look forward to them! You have a wonderful family P.S. GOD only gives special children to special people! Tell Hunter HI from Alabama!!!
It s important and fascinating to see Hunter worried about his mom and coming to her aid. Also wonderful to see how Hunter even though non verbal displays his love and concern for Mom with his tender kisses to her forearm, Separate note fof mike. Great logic in setting up to dig and level the posts! Hope you don’t mind if I copy that technique.
Going to be a good get-away for whatever you decide. Good to see Hunter out enjoying a walk. Going to call and see if I can get a grapple from the MFG since they are just a few miles away. Suppose they will contact RK for procedure. Good job with auger.
Have to admit, I like Hunter's style, stays comfy.☺.... Sure showed me a new way of squaring up a layout. I have an 8x8 garden tool shed, after its all closed in it won't seem so big, it'll be just perfect for yourself and/or with a buddy. 2 sheets of 3/4 plywood for floor with hardly no cutting. 😉... I would heavy black plastic the underside and insulate that floor and help heat it up costing A Lot less gas in the long run in not having to run the heater wide open for so long... I've been in insulated and non-insulated hunting blinds and Man what a Huge difference.👍
Came across a video of channel and started watching....and Dang i got those exact slippers on as i watch now ...i leave em on when i go for a walk sometimes too..comfortable...we know it..
I know I'm still very far behind, but I like to watch in order. But I just wanted to say it was so cool to see Hunter out there lol. Slippers & all. Good stuff
Hey Hunter, good to see you out in the woods. You are the special featured star of this video!!! I think you would also agree that you have a very special ma and pa. Come back and see us again soon. Thanks Mike and Melissa for sharing with us. And Mike, that mansion you're building is going to be a great place to hang around in this winter.
Great job Mike, nothing better than cooking outside in the morning! You really did make quick work of getting it started. Looking forward to part 2 Hi Hunter, that was a nice story your Mom told us about you!! Hope you enjoyed your walk with your Mom!!
G'day Mike, thanks for another update video on the tower blind, it sounds like your going to have a great mancave getaway when its finished. It was great t see Hunter again, he is such a beautiful person and I loved to see him interacting with Melissa and you together. Hunter is such an amazing person and I thank the Lord for being part of your family and our lives through your channel. Bleesings to all. Garron from Aussie🌍
I saw those 2x4s going higher like at the top, that way you know the tops are all in the right position to receive the framing. Anyway, always love watching OWTM videos! Hi Hunter 😬 from Michigan
HI Hunter! Love the jammies and slippers. The Pens shirt, not so much, seeing as we are Blue Jacket fans!!!! Too bad we can't subscribe more than once. It is amazing to me how many times you have the same projects that I want to do. I'll be watching this build very closely, as I have a blind I want to install.
Nice to see Hunter in the video . Nothing wrong with wearing slippers outside . I do that all the time . I'm bad . You can see that you're both very proud of your son . Smart way of squaring things up . I have used a L shaped 4X8 sheet of plywood to square things out . Never think that anything is too big when building a structure . More is always better . You'll appreciate the extra room when you start filling it with stuff . Example a nice cot to sleep on if need be . Good to see that you're getting a chance to break in your new shotgun . I shot skeet and trap myself . I love building stuff videos . I was able to build my 12X16 shed just by watching youtube videos . Too bad you never did one on your chicken coop . I was looking forward to that one . Great video . Thanks
Yo Mike- To your question of how others secure their blind platform posts: Our camp is located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where wx extremes are the norm. All of our 'tower' type blinds are built on raised platforms set with treated 4 x 4 posts in post holes dug manually with post hole digger. Some small stone is placed at the bottom of each hole (enhance drainage) and then holes are back filled with pea gravel (no concrete). Our blinds range in size and roof style with most newer built ones also sporting a small rear deck for easier access. The oldest blind was actually a purchased cedar box blind that had to be assembled on the platform. That box blind finally died (good riddance, because it became mouse infested as well as other unwanted critters). Yet, the platform we built as described above is still solid as a rock after 23 seasons. Therefore, we simply built a new, roomier and virtually critter proof blind on the existing platform. Over the past several years, We have found it most efficient to design, build and assemble our blinds at our downstate home in the garage over the winter. Each blind is designed to be disassembled and pieces transported in a small, 5 x 10 utility trailer 250 miles north, then transported into the woods by ATV trailer to the specified blind location and reassembled on site. Could probably speed up the process if you would be kind enough to lend us one of your tractors. 😁 Pics available upon request. BlackHillsDeerCamp@gmail.com
Mike, been watching your videos for the past few months while deployed. Reminds me of projects to complete when I get home. Excellent videos and a good way to relax from every day operations.
Great time watching you enjoy yourself in the project. May not need it in this application but I put a footing under my telephone poles for the shed I put up at my camp in downeast Maine. It sounds like you may be on rock so you don't need to worry about settling. Have a day!!!!
Really enjoy your videos,I’m actually planning on making a tower blind on my property but probably 4x4 and a little taller, like you said it’s gonna be great for late muzzleloader season with my hot coffee and a small propane heater. I’m definitely learning a lot of little tips from you.I’m from New England and this is the first home I’m building,I have 8 acres and hope one day to have property like yours, house should be done by June or July, then I can focus on the other small projects like the tower blind and I can go back to them videos for tips.I have a backhoe and been thinking for a while now about getting a John Deere or Kubota tractor, but for the price difference I’m really leaning towards a RK 55 with the enclosed cab, would have never considered a RK tractor until I started watching your videos.I don’t comment much on you tube but wanted to say thanks for the videos and your family is great.
Sidewalk Super here again. Learned something... Hunter, good to see ya, and thanks for keeping Jo (I explained yesterday) company for her walk in the woods. Look forward to seeing this woods-man-cave come together. Maybe if you had that saw mill you could build the “up stairs” from “your” wood.
Hi, Hunter, good to see you again as always. You love your Mom and Dad. Good for you. Dad loves to take you to Burger King for your chicken sandwich and Mom is so proud of you. We all love you.
I do that too with the frame, I also stake the frame to the ground when i 'm ready to set the posts and screw the posts to the frame (temporarily) to hold the posts plum. Perfect, easy, square ,plum. Well done sir!
love the video.. glad to see the wife and hunter getting out in the woods.. you make my day.. wishing i had land and could do what you do.. but i watch you .. and that helps .. thanks again..
Love the videos! Hunter was being protective of Melissa and the bee attacking her. Brave young man protective of Mom. For that I believe Hunter deserves a Chicken sandwich from BK! The love you all show to each other is genuine and sweet Hunter giving Mom kisses! Love the slippers! Hello from Bristow, Oklahoma. Pat & Paula fro the Harker Family Farm.
Mike - Hello from Cuba, NY. Love the vids. I'm sure many of us have thought about building a tower blind, but don't know where to start and/or how to finish. I hope you really document (video) how you construct this so the rest of us can try it too. Tell Hunter I'm jealous of his great name. He's a great kid.
Great relationship with Hunter. Thanks for including him. Am old school here about squaring your frame. Wouldn't hurt to measure diagonally between posts to ensure they are equal. It will save some aggravation when putting down floor. Keep the videos coming, Mike and Melissa. Subscriber from Annapolis, MD.
I enjoy watching your videos. Seeing Hunter is always a treat. Tell him a guy from Texas said hello and I enjoy Burger King too. Whoop Whoop gig ‘em Aggies.
Hunter watched episode #406 when Melissa asked for ideas on hiking shoes. So hunter said "hold my chicken sandwich I'll show you some awesome hiking shoes mom!!" That is an actual quote. Also I think that suggestion deserves another chicken sandwich. It's so great to see Hunter in the videos. He reminds me a lot of my cousin my wife and I care for a few days a week. They have many of the same mannerisms so much in common. Tell Hunter hello and to have a day.
Melissa Morgan he is 23 years old. his mental age is around 12 and size wise he is probably around 15. he had huge complication with leukemia as a young child which left him mentally and physically disabled. He has a tough time walking and talking. So sometimes he will sign if he can't say the word or if someone is struggling to understand him. He signs a lot like Hunter does in the videos. But he also suffers from manic and bipolar disorder so it can be a real challenge sometimes. The comment about Hunter hiding under his shirt is something my cousin will do when he is nervous or thinks he is in trouble.
No doubt about it GOD put Hunter in the right family, and with the right parents!! Thank you so much for including him in the video. He's a very unique guy i can tell , you all are blessed by having him, as i am by being able to enjoy him being in the video's. Happy EASTER to you all.
Wow, needed info on setting 4x4's for my chicken coop. This video was a game changer for me. Thank you for the tips!!!

Hi Hunter. Good to see you again.
Great idea Mike. I will use this method on my next structure build. Love TH-cam...one learns so much from other people and their ideas.
Really like your technique of squaring the base and positioning the posts.
Glad to see Hunter. I've heard you talk about him but just saw him the in the last few videos. He likes his mom for sure. I have a disabled daughter and she has added so much love to our family. Melissa's exercises are paying off. (I hope that was tastefully said.) :-)

I've been in insulated and non-insulated hunting blinds and Man what a Huge difference.👍
Love the process buiilding square and plumb. Huntr is a Fine looking young Man .
Good to Hunter and Melissa out for a hike. Simple means of squaring up posts for a structure frame / grid. Cheers and Happiness!
Looking forward to part 2
Hi Hunter, that was a nice story your Mom told us about you!!
Hunter, its good to see you again!! I am glad you had time to take your Mom for a walk. Good job Mike, the 8x8 shelter is going to be awesome.
Thank you for showing us this. It's a great way to do it. Also, I really like the square you use to guide your circular saw.
Hunter wearing slippers in the woods! King of comfort. Way to go!
Hi Hunter! Good to see you! The bee story made me smile. I hope you had a good night. ~ Jennifer in Nova Scotia, Canada
Good job Hunter!!!
Hunter your the man,Manitoba Canada
Thanks
Cannot wait to see this blind finished , and in use next deer season !!! Hi Hunter !!!!
I may use this idea for my small goat barn I want to build. 👍🏻👍🏻
Ps: real men adore their mothers! Cheers Hunter 💪🏻
Hi Hunter it was great to see you again. Keep up the great work mike. I always learn something from watching your videos thank you.
Hunter is rocking those slippers like a boss!
Thumbs up. Hunter has the right idea. I’ll admit it, most of the time you’ll find me in the woodworking shop in my “shop slippers”.
Hi, Hunter, good to see you again as always. You love your Mom and Dad. Good for you. Dad loves to take you to
Burger King for your chicken sandwich and Mom is so proud of you.
Hey Hunter! Happy to see you in the video's! Mike and Melissa yall are amazing parents! Love and prayers from Virginia. God bless!
He's a great kid.
nice to see Hunter out in the woods, he sure loves his mom
way to go hunter you was there for your mom good job mike you do good work to
Sure like your template idea for setting the posts ,will use it soon ,Thanks
I always enjoy the music you choose
Great project and video and have a goodnight Hunter
Great relationship with Hunter. Thanks for including him. Am old school here about squaring your frame. Wouldn't hurt to measure diagonally between posts to ensure they are equal. It will save some aggravation when putting down floor. Keep the videos coming, Mike and Melissa. Subscriber from Annapolis, MD.
Way to go Hunter!! Sometimes you just need to go into the woods with whatever your wearing Why not!!! Love the chicken sandwiches too.
That was a good idea, with making a template for the holes and making post👍
Hunter is the man! He has the best boots for the woods!
