Very nice tractor and excellent taste! I have the baby sister CS3520 and just ordered a Tarter 7 foot box blade as well. Nice job on the finishing of your driveway! Very best of luck and thank you for posting.
Hey there, I do do that sort of thing professionally and have a box blade as well. They are an essential tool for the tractor. However for fixing gravel / dirt driveways and roads, a land plane is the bomb. It's easier to use than the box blade, way faster, and does a way better job of the finished grade. Watch a bunch of videos on them and I promise you will be getting one and wondering why you didn't get one when you bought your tractor. I promise you will not be sorry. Make sure to get one with scarifying rippers to break stuff up when things are hard packed. If there ever was a perfect application for one, it's your place ....... Dan from Montana.
Someone might have said this already, but if you tilt with the back of the box blade down, you can compact with moving forward. It’s how we build house pads with sand here in Florida.
We bought a Woods BSM72P this summer gone by. When I searched it on TH-cam your videos were the best by far on a Woods box blade in action. I just got around to using it today .What a joy to use . Sure beats smoothing everything by back dragging. Anyway . Thanks for uploading the videos , they were very helpful.
Oh yeah, and I worked for a company that manufactures the teeth for those box blades. They are called scarifier teeth. I've been into Woods many times. Nice video Dale.
I just picked up a Black Maxx 60" snow thrower front kit for $500 bucks, never used at an estate sale. They said it took 19 gpm, I got 17 gpm. I'm thinking if need be, I can get smaller sprockets and fabricate them on it, but may not need it. I have a quick connect for my 4&1 bucket, hoping it will work. I'll know in a few days. Nice vid thanks.
Your road looks soft enough that you probably don’t need to use the rippers. The blade alone will scrape enough soil to keep the box full, and by avoiding the rippers it will prevents digging up so many rocks. As others have said, start with your box blade level to the ground - that’s usually all you need to scrape the high spots and fill the holes.
Looks good Dale good job buddy glad to see the sunshine shining we got a little down here in PA today the warmth is on the way time to start the garden
Everything is late here this year. I looked at the garden but it's way to muddy to even till up. The never ending rain here is not helping either...lol...the sun only peeks out once in a while...
What works for me is turning the blade on a scraper blade around and dragging it backwards. it doesn't dig in as much and levels it out nicely. Hope this might help. But I do put extra weight on the blade, just for down-force. Thanks for the videos.
It takes some practice, Tip/Tilt really helps when adjusting box blade from seat of tractor. Also really helps having hydraulic teeth to pull up rocks before running box blade over road.
Adding a hydraulic top link makes it much easier. Tipped forward to dig and move earth. Tipped backward to lay 1/2" or more of earth as well as pack with the rear blade edge.
On your last pass adjust your top link out so only the rear facing blade touches. This will spread your stone and give you a professional finish if interested.
If you replaced the top link of the 3 point with a hydraulic ram you can adjust the angle of the cut of the blade from front and back blade without getting off the tractor!
How's she goin'? The box blade is a great attachment for sure. I have a 4 foot one for my GC2300 and it does great at repairing our road and lane. The black flies can ruin a good day can't they!!! Take care!!!
I've never used a box blade...but a relative of mine has one. He was able to dig out a foundation into a slight hillside for his shop with the teeth down. You might want to check air pressure in front tires. They looked a little low at times. Maybe they are suppose to run low pressure??? Road looks great. Do a little yearly touch up and should stay nice for years to come. My grandad should have got a box blade. He had several old tractors. His driveway was a mess. Sometimes you would scratch the bottom of your car on rocks. Driving heavy tractors on it when it was wet probably didn't help...but no choice when you have farming to do.
I bought a top and tilt kit, for my deere 3039r... LOVE IT with the box blade. I would have used to loader to move those rocks (or even the blade itself... ) but... I am lazy lol. Thanks for the upload!
It did not seem like your road is too bad this year in the muddy season. I'm I wrong? down here it NH we had a lot of rain and it's all mud. Black flies are going to be bad this year. That tractor is a mule.... 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Everything WOODs makes is heavyduty. Outdoors with the Morgans has a video on using a Box blade. He does a good. More practice than you and i. You did well on your first time though. 👍

I like it. That’s a great way of doing the road. That will save lots of hard work & time. It Might be worth saving for one of them. That road will always need work. 😁
you may want to check the pressure in your front tires, I saw quite a bit of sidewall flex. If you tilt the upper mount toward the tractor, it will make a smooth finish while going backwards. (as long as the back blade is up slightly off the surface)
Checked the pressure just before I tackled the road. Pressure was good. I need a little more practice with the box blade but it's a great piece of equipment.
pretty funny moving those big heavy rocks by hand when you have a tractor with a loader ... lol.. and a box blade to drag and fill the pot holes .. LOL
I use an old 1959 Ford grader blade on my Ford Jubilee, three point hitch. You have to angle it by hand, but all I ever use. Gonna buy a box blade when I can afford one.
I am assuming (yes i know the saying) that your 3 point hitch has an adjustment on the right hand side Crank it all the way down and the box blade will crown the road for you just fyi
I used a loader and boxblade on back to plow 2 feet of snow this winter! It worked great! Started with the loader in one direction then backed with the blade pushing in the other direction! I plowed a quarter mile road and 6 yards in 3 hours! Being able to work in both directions cuts down on the time to do the job! As well as the fuel consumption! Less than 5 gallons! And it was hard pushing!!!
now you need the scrape blade to get that ridge knocked down o n the edge of the road. that will allow water to stay in the road and not drain. i use a scrape blade only on my road. works great for me. i have 3/4 mi of road to do here in NC. Kubota tractor does a great job.
I pull mine with my 91 HP kioti it is great till you hit a root then the wheels just spin. On the road for serious work the box blade can’t be beat. To do regular passes get a land plane from woods with teeth. I hit my driveway once a month with it one pass down and back and I am done. Takes longer to put it on than to do the work.
I sure hope you got a bug hat back at the cabin with a net on it LOL been there done that. That is a nice pc or equipment that you used on the road great job.
I had a section of D3 caterpillar track chain attached from each end of a 12ft wide steel bar with a steel cable clevis hitch point at the center of the bar. I would drag that with a small tractor and freshen up the gravel driveway, fill in ruts, etc. The caterpillar track chain would take on a triangular shape as you pulled it around. It would scrape and funnel towards the center. It did an okay job. Box blade looks great.
What the guy below me said the top link if you adjusted to where you ride on your back your blade it will float the road very smooth and the right link if you adjust it it will angle your box blade and you can cut ditches or don't angle it as much and it will Crown your road
Damn black flies!!! Don't forget...blue Solo Cups on a string hanging from a tree and "Tanglefoot" painted on it! The cups will be full! Don't wear anything blue!!! The deer flies will be out soon and they will be attracted to the cups as well!!!
Good job, a little practice and you will be more comfortable with it. I have a top and tilt kit on my tractor, makes life much easier and your neighbors will think you are a pro!
Great job on the road. For the black flies....my friend bought a hard broad rim hat like a safari hat and drilled small holes all around the outer edge 1" in. Then he took fishing line and ping pong balls. Make the fishing line different lengths for 5" to 9". Attach the balls by drilling through and tying line then put other end through holes in the hat and tie. They will be like bobbers around your head. When the flys or mosquitos come around just turn your head side to side. It will keep the nuisance away.
wear light color caps.. dark or black ones attract flies or mosquito's (their view black is dark place..beige color or bright yellow is white... sunny or heat to them)..
@@pathfindergeorgia1117 Kioti is a very popular brand. Made in S Korea as opposed to japan and better priced for (what i think) is equal quality. It will run anything. It's served me well.
Tip for future reference, you have a bucket on the front. When you scrape up big rocks, just scoop them with the bucket on the next pass.
Nice job on the road
I enjoyed the video

1. Adjust the top link until the side edge is level
2. Adjust the right lifting arm down to get the crown
I love the box blade grading process. Thz road lookd greaat. It is such a smooth process. Greqt camerq view, sound quality, and video!

The road looks great!

I love using the box blade. Good therapy.
You did a really nice job 👍. I hope to get a land plane next. The box blade is great for cutting new roads and trails.
Hey thanks! 🍺

Never would have thought of this piece of equipment. I could really use one of those on our homestead.
I was amazed at how easy it was to fix that road.
Nice job. That invention sure is a must have if you have a dirt road. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you decided to work smarter not harder after the first rock!
Did you forget you had a bucket to pickup heavy rocks with :-) Love how that woods worked for you! Really nice.
For a minute there I thought I needed the extra exercise....lol...

The road looks great. Box blade works very well.
those nice big flat rocks are ideal for the fire pit
Man those tires are weather cracked bad, looks like your gonna be on the hunt for new rubber soon. Love the vids.
Yeah they were real bad. I replaced them last fall. Fall colors of maine video.
On your last pass adjust your top link out so only the rear facing blade touches. This will spread your stone and give you a professional finish if interested.

Geremy Chubbuck are they better than a box blade for this purpose?
