Thanks brother! She has definitely came a long way, even from where I started doing videos. It has been an experience that's for sure! Appreciate you are along for the ride. 💪💪💪
This blows my mind. I was just telling my wife that I think my carrier was making noise and I really should upgrade to this one piece. She didn’t appreciate that I still have a power train warranty and didn’t want to use it lol. I’ll let them replace it but I’m going to have the one piece eventually.
@@707Tyree unfortunately I did not do the upgrade before I traded it for a truck. I regret it every time I get in this truck. I really miss my Challenger.
Required upgrade, I am glad you finally installed this driveshaft. The two piece was just not designed for the power output of Shake"N"Bake's engine. With all the racing you do , I was concerned that a driveshaft failure was inevitable. Question, did you ever install the double radiator fan and if you did, were any modifications needed.
You are 100% spot on. I should've got a close up of the carrier bearing! 😂 I've been seriously slacking on the fan! It's still in the plan just gotta get it done.
@@ModernRedHemi This is the exact situation I am in now. My carrier bearing is shot and done for. I tried ordering a new driveshaft but upon getting it it was too big cuz I drive a manual challenger and the right one I need are all backlogged the rest of the year. Now I am looking into aluminum and hope it’s worth the investment.
The driveshaft for manuals are smaller and found that out the hard way. I will definitely be getting an aluminum driveshaft this weekend. My biggest concern was the fitment. My exhaust is stock but I do have it straight piped. Thank you so much for the video!!
How do you like this shaft? I have an 11 rt that had the shaft replaced and the replacement went bad a week later. This seems the best option in looking at.
Funny thing, up here all the tracks won't let you run slicks on your car unless you have a drive shaft safety loop. I want to switch over to a set of slicks for the track so I'm not blowing through my tire budget so quickly, which forces me to try and find one for the 6 speed cars, but I remembered your video and the issues you were having with hitting your headers and now I'm paranoid about hitting mine! I had the thought about maybe just getting a Mr. Gasket generic DSS loop and just custom fabbing the brackets so it fits (sheet metal is my trade anyway). Did you ever get that BMR to fit for you?
So what about a subframe lockout kit? On their website it recommended one because I need that driveshaft except for a 2016 charger scatpack. Do I need the lockout kit for the warranty and diff and driveshaft safety?
I do have the rear cradle lock out kit from BMR Suspension but I don't think you "have" to have it but I do recommend it along with a diff brace as well; more for safety reasons than anything else. 💪💪💪
I have a question my stock 2015 Challenger kept breaking the 2 pc DS from dorman so i finally upgraded to a 1 piece, did you notice a difference? Im getting it on tomorrow finally
Absolutely! I would call the Drive Shaft Shop or whomever you are going to get your driveshaft from and make sure the measurements are correct. Not sure if the trans are different in the V6s. 😉
Mine does but ever so slightly and is barely noticeable unless you really listen/feel for it. No matter what one piece you go with there is going to be some noise/vibration but should be barely noticeable. 😉
Sweet drive shaft. Looks good. Shake and Bake has come a long way from its stock R/T start!
Thanks brother! She has definitely came a long way, even from where I started doing videos. It has been an experience that's for sure! Appreciate you are along for the ride. 💪💪💪
@@ModernRedHemi was this a direct bolt on? I bought the hellcat 4 inch for my R/T
I went with a QA1 carbon fiber drive shaft for my r/t when I switched over to single piece. Definitely made a difference.
Couldn't afford a carbon fiber one as this was a deal I couldn't pass up. You are correct, definitely makes a difference.
Really!! What difference? Oh, you're not to saying...
Did you need a cradle?
What difference?

My carrier was definitely gone (was still there but on it's last legs for sure). This is definitely a good investment, specifically safety wise.
Did you end up doing it? Was it plug and play or did you need the cradle lock out too
@@707Tyree unfortunately I did not do the upgrade before I traded it for a truck. I regret it every time I get in this truck. I really miss my Challenger.
Excellent upgrade! Should prove its worth.
After being at the track tonight, it was definitely worth it.

i going with one 2 my center bering is going out and all i have is 475 5.7
The S & M safety loop for the automatic transmission should fit without an issue.
Thanks! I'll have to check into that one.
Excellent, you’ll have to let us know what your impressions are of it, daily driving and at the strip! Good video!
I LOVE IT! Doesn't really help time wise but just feels more solid and secure. My carrier bearing was SHOT! LOL... it was definitely time for this!
@@ModernRedHemi I think I’m in the same boat as you my friend! Thanks for the video and a peak of the install! 💪

They need to make a hoop that can bolt up were the carrier bearing was
That's true but the one from High Horse Performance (HHP) fits perfectly. 😉
Great video man
Thanks brother!
Be prepared for some vibration. And to slow down a bit.
There is a little vibration but not as much as I expected. Pretty smooth until around 75ish then I start getting some.
@@ModernRedHemi ours is the same. We had a gen 1 diff brace it was real bad. But after we upgraded to the new it was better.

I love it! What seems typical of these two-piece drive shafts is the carrier bearing wears out rather quickly. I say, bite the bullet and get one. 😉
Put the same one on my Hellcat including the DS loop.
The loop was definitely in the plan but just couldn't make it fit.
Is your transmission a 3bolt or 4bolt ? When u was ordering your 1 piece driveshaft

I didn't. Hit me up on Instagram. 😉
That’s the exact driveshaft I ordered. My next purchase is between torque converter or axles. You upgraded Axles yet?
I did. I have Hellcat axles (video several months ago). 💪💪💪

I do have a diff brace. Per4mance Development basic one.

Yes. It will stiffen the ride a little and you may feel a little vibration. Both are normal. 😉
Would a hellcat dss work on my r/t?
No. The Hellcat driveshaft is a tad longer than the R/T one and will not fit. 😉
Do you feel a vibration at like hi way speeds say 80
I do not. 😉
Do we by any chance know the weight difference between the old drive shaft vs the new one?
I do not unfortunately. I should've weighed them but I didn't. 😉
@@ModernRedHemi did they feel different in weight in hand?
@@St.PierreProductions felt kinda the same.
Was there anything wrong with the original drive shaft? As in any wear and tear that you visually seen
I should've got a good shot of the carrier bearing. It was still there but pretty worn out!
Can aluminum go on v6 challengers ??
Absolutely! I would call the Drive Shaft Shop or whomever you are going to get your driveshaft from and make sure the measurements are correct. Not sure if the trans are different in the V6s. 😉
Wow!!!!!!!!
Thanks Jan!
What happened to the block you purchased
It's on hold at the machine shop. About the time I have the $$ to get started, something like this comes up and here I am saving up again. 😂
@@ModernRedHemi I definitely understand that
How long did you wait for your ds? been a month and a half for me. 😭
I got mine off a friend of mine so didn't have to wait to be built and sent.
Dss is at a 10 week lead time
Does this one humm and vibrate at highway speeds?
Mine does but ever so slightly and is barely noticeable unless you really listen/feel for it. No matter what one piece you go with there is going to be some noise/vibration but should be barely noticeable. 😉
Thank you for this feedback, I recently had a cam done now I’m hearing this grinding sound, I’ll send it to you on IG
Is that a 3.8 or a 4.0 driveshaft
4" aluminum from DSS. 💪
How come sometimes it takes awhile to start? Tuning or temp related?
It's because I am running E85. Now there is some tuning that can help with the starts, just up to your tuner. 😉
@@ModernRedHemi alright gotcha
I’ve had mine since 2011 lol.

Sweet!
What are the torque specs
Seen them handle upwards of 1100+ horsepower. 😉
@@ModernRedHemi I mean for tightening the drive shaft
57 pounds
Thinking of doing a one piece driveshaft could you let me know if you have any vibrations issues thanks.
There is a little more vibrations due to it being one piece but it's barely noticeable.
I ruined a drive line because the cradle lockout wasn't installed.
You definitely need the cradle lockouts installed or like what happened to you, things will break. 💪
how much for your old drive shaft lol
LOL... I actually trashed it. I wouldn't have sold it to my worst enemy. It wasn't super bad but the carrier bearing was definitely on it's last legs.

How much lighter than the oem is the new driveshaft?
Great question. I didn't weigh them at all. Wish I had. 😉
