When they learned that the show was cancelled, they decided to broadcast the episodes they had already completed... The show was subsequently picked up for another 3 seasons by Netflix, but they didn't know that at the time the 2 episodes aired. This one could have been edited to fit pretty much anywhere in the story... but the next one is different -- One of my favs! ;-]
I rewatched this episode recently and was struck by how Ella's makeup was more vivacious than usual and Chloe's was much plainer, presumably to emphasize Ella's role as the central character here.
As someone who had read The Sandman graphic novels a long time ago, I got really excited when this episode came along, as it hinted at a much bigger story for Ella (slightly different character name, but a person who sees ghosts). Sadly they didn't go down that route in the series. One question I'd have for this episode is whether Azrael would've intervened to save Ella when her life was in danger, or leave her friend die?
Such a fun episode...
Love the moment between Lucifer & Ella at the end.
Love that Azrael, Angel of Death, is a massive dork too!
This episode is fill the background story for the voices that Ella was hearing in the Vegas/Chloe Birthday episodes.
Everyone should be lucky enough to have an Ella in their life. 😊

azrael the owner of the blade Lucifer sent to Mom's universe
This for some reason this episode cracks me up . . . It’s so funny . . .
I feel sorry for Azrael. Her job sucks and everyone hates her, she and Lucifer have a lot in common.
Why is the Angel of Death so adorable?🥰

I wished the series had more Ella centered episodes and Trixie centered episodes.

This episode was supposed to be earlier in the season after Perce got shot.
