  • Hey Good People!
I got another Cadillac Escalade in the shop. Same issue as the last one I had a few weeks back. See video here : • Low Mileage Cadillac E...
This is a common issue on these engines. In the video im doing a partial tear down to finish sripping the engine down to the block to show you the damage the broken lifter caused, and so the customer can get the block off to a machine shop.
This video was fun to make, and I hope you enjoy watching.

Thanks for taking the time to do this videos and help educate the community. GM should have a recall for these engines, I been a GM customer for 2002 buy 3 brand new Silverados, my 2013 and my 2015 Silverado with 37,000 miles are both broken on my drive way, I would never buy a GM vehicle in my live, and I will be talking to all my family, friends and any body who wants to buy a GM vehicle to don’t buy it. This engines has so many problems that it’s ridiculous and GM it’s not doing anything about it, and to make things worse they still putting those same engines in new vehicles.

I just had all the lifters replaced on a 2021 Cadillac Escalade with only 23000 miles on it. One of the lifter failed, but Cadillac dealer replaced all of them. Watching your video was a great explanation as to what they had to do. Thank you!!

What a shame!!! Nice vehicles but I wont come near one because the reliability is so terrible. Plus you have carbon build up issues. Transmission issues. Electrical issues. Weak fatal roofs in a rollover. Much much better off with a Lincoln Navigator, Toyota sequoia or Lexus LX.

GM sells the block for $4200 with 12m12k warranty over the parts counter. If installed at GM dealer then you get 3y 100k warranty but it’s $8900 installed. Just had mine done. These J code l86 only have 100k total engine life.

5w30 is perfectly fine for those. 20 weight only exist because of the stupid EPA CAFE requirements. It’s the same motor in the C7 Corvette and Camaros that call for 30 weight. The only differences are the intake manifold and exhaust and of course the tuning.

Bro, I just put a new engine in mine. It's the AFMs which are a grenade in your truck. Over time it destroys the cylinders. After I put a new engine in mine, I installed a disabler which stops the computer from shutting off the cylinders so it will always be on 8 cylinders. Now my truck will last 350k plus miles. Shame on GM for doing this to people because these trucks are expensive

Hey there sorry to hear you’re having issues. I don’t believe what other mechanics say I will have to hear it for myself, is it possible you can Instagram me a video of it running. Throwing connecting rod bearings at it won’t solve the problem if the crank is scored up most times it is and you will have to send the crankshaft off to a machine shop to get it reworked and hope the mechanic can install everything back right, at that point I think it’s easier to put a engine in it that’s more guaranteed

If you like the truck, fix it. It’s expensive and there isn’t a guarantee that if fix it that it won’t happen again down the road. I heard that if you upgrade the lifters to a brand called Johnson lifters, you won’t have the problem anymore. But those are super expensive and when I give my customers the option, they choose to go with the “Melling” brand that I use. It’s just a pain in the butt really 😞

I personal have always told friends not to react to people.
Heres what people say "hes going to get charged". Do yall think killers ste worried about charges? They wouldnt do it if they feared prison.
The thing is your already dead or injured because you were so desperate to give to follow them and give them the middle finger when it was pointless to try to prove a point.
First dont try to prove your point to a stranger who could be a serial killer and meanwhile uou haven't even been in a fight.
I dont know what happened here but just general road matters.
If they dont have a gun they are automatically have something to kill you withz their vehicle so why would you think to go back and forth with them.
Notice bro just hopped out and didnt seem upset. Often its because theyve also done something to taunt the person, follow them, aggressively tailgate.
Not that the other guy was right but that doesn't matter once your dead or injured.

Hey Alex, love the video. I am doing this repair at home myself. However, I left the engine in the car and I was able to take all the parts apart and get the phaser out. However, after installing the new cam and camp plate, I am stuck and I am not able to get the new phaser in. I broke one last night and I just picked up a brand new phaser for $225 and I don’t want to break another one. You said there was a GM tech that knew how to install this without dropping the oil pan or removing the oil pump. How do you do that?

Hi Alex, Carlos here from South Florida. Ran into your vids and man they are awesome! I have 2016 Escalade ESV, 86k. It started making that knocking noise about 3 weeks ago. Very similar to the noise on your 2015 diagnostic vid. Limited use since. I’m no Mecanic but can do simple work. Took it to a Mecanic and is recommending to change all lifters and rods. Is taking out the entire engine required to replace a lifter?
