What helped me tremendously to change my bad money habits is the simple motto: Take care of your pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves. It takes it down to the many decisions you have to make in a day. Making a budget wasn't working for me but making the right decision several times a day did. I reached my 'enough' and I'm happily retired.
Please do a segment on after enough. You have enough, you stop, you go sailing, the habits and nest egg continue to grow. Now enough is easy, life is finite, what is after enough?
This is great news! Loved your first video on "Enough". Looked around and not many other people talking about being at a point where you realize you don't need anything "more". Really look forward to what you share next. Thanks so much.
Greetings! Your timing on this just couldn’t be better for me~ (it’s actually kinda spooky) Will be keenly looking forward to these video discussions & also becoming involved with the resultant community. Thanks so much from me in beautiful Hervey Bay Australia!! (will actually turn notifications on for your channel… a very, very rare thing for me), ciao, Pancho.
I realized that I was hanging out with the wrong people who absolutely do not fit into my life goals. Thank you for sharing your valuable experience and creating a community, this is awesome!
I love that you live on a boat and have fun. It helps people see what is possible! Someday I’ll be showing people what it’s like to just live of a life of crafting and relaxing without a day job because I was frugal. 🤗
Really looking forward to this. Especially the Doing It section. I have my enough. I just can't let go and do it! I am always creating another reason to stay just a little bit longer. Who would of thought that would be a problem!
My husband did this too! He left his job and worked part time, had a bit of a panic about money and went back to fulltime work. He has been so stressed in his new job that he's finally admitted we have enough(we do, and we did before he went back to work. Lol) and he can stop working. His last day of work is tomorrow.😊 I hope you get to the point where you really believe your enough is enough and you let go.☺
I am working towards being financially independent for some years now. But in 2017 I had to quit my job to take a year off because I had a burnout. Didn't know at the time it was a burnout. I knew I had more then enough money to get by for a year, or even a few. So I just did it. Last few months I started working again at a temp job. And now I am searching for a 32 hours/week job. But if I want to I can get by with only working 24 hours a week. Which is awesome. I thought about it and decided I will do 32 hours/week for at least a while to save and invest some more money. I am in my 30s now and it's a great feeling knowing that I have so much more freedom now. I hopefully don't really need a normal job anymore before I am 40. :D But if not, having the option to work less hours or take a year off once in a while is already great! :)

Great follow-up video! Thanks for launching out in this direction. I'm encouraged by your success and am in an 8 year countdown to my own launch from the routine. My wife and I are taking sailing classes in May/June and are hoping for a 2027 sail into the sunset. Hope to see you there! Brilliant. When reading about how much is enough for retirement or putting your kids through college, the financial companies have similar formulas that are insane. My number is defined. My mother after working all her life and raising 3 kids solo is happy as a clam in Florida on $1800 per month, stays with us or my sister for a month or two at a time. Know other people in the grind chasing a number that may never happen.

Enjoyed both of these videos, thanks for doing them. I think they came along right when I needed to hear some of that. I've got my finances mostly in order but the concept of "Enough is enough" is what I'd been missing (or had probably been exposed to it from other sources and kind of forgot about it). I'm definitely falling in to the trap lately of thoughts like well, if I can stand to work three more years, might as well make it five, and at that point, maybe two more after that (chasing bigger retirement benefits).

If you have to give people money to tend to your boat that acronym is correct. If you have a boat and a job to be done, there is *always* a cheaper way to get it fixed. Hey guys I have one question to you both and would be probably one of the biggest for anyone that is close to this dream and that is health care. How do you deal with this situation? We are a couple that are going for financial independence, we have been working towards it a couple years now and we or at least I feel that with every investment I'm working towards our goal. It all started out with reading a blog post on Mr Money Moustache. When I was reading it I just feelt this is what I want. I spoke to my fiancee when she came home and she was all like, Yeah right sure. So I showed her the blog post and we both started doing some research and after a while we started calculating the numbers towards what we needed if we were going to live as we live now. Depending on the market and what kind of job she will land after her education we should be able to retire after about 3-5 years from now. More if we want a more expensive life stile. It is mind changing when you start to realise that most have been so caught up with showing of there wealth that they have no time to enjoy it. For us things have never been of much value we instead value experiences much more, so our best memories have always been things we done, like trips, new cultures and such things. It is good to tap into the knowledge of someone that have already done it. Looking forward to your'e videos and what we can learn from you. Best of wishes from the frozen lands of Sweden. PS: We also love sailing so you have the perfect combination.
Thanks guys. I hope you fill out the community survey in the description. We want to help get people together that think this way. Mutual support and a place to hang out where it's cool to not show off wealth.
Michael. I know nothing about Reddit. I just got an account but I don't have enough Karma to do anything interesting. I would appreciate help if you know about getting things rolling there.
When your account is more than 30 days old, and you have acquired a small amount of positive karma, then you can create a subreddit of your own. To do this, go to your reddits listing, where you will see a button called “Create your own subreddit” at the top of the sidebar on the right. The above is simply how you create a subreddit, but during the next 30 days you should explore Reddit to build that Karma (upvote/downvote things etc) to best understand how a SubReddit could work for you and how you envision your community. Obviously you could look at TH-cam Subreddits that are popular like PewDiePie, H3H3, JackFilms, etc but looking at Gone with Wynns website or finding general helpful communities on Reddit (aka literally tens of thousands) and maybe a good place to start would be looking at Sailing or Financial rabbit holes.... Hope that helps and look forward to seeing where you take this community :)
I suppose I have serious trust issues. What is he trying to sell/promote? Is this some content marketing strategy by Lehman Brothers to get me to open some savings account? I don't know. How many people did invest just for a lot of hard earned coin to land in someone else's already big pocket. I did really enjoy the first video though. Wise words that made a lot of sense. Also I really like boats and the ocean..
I'm promoting, happiness, life goals and being smart with your money. That's all. I'm retired and happy and want to spend my time helping people. Many people are afraid of investing. It's true, every investment has risk, and some risks are greater than others. I encourage you to do your research and find what's right for you, whether it's real estate, the stock market, a small business, or other means. I know about the stock market, and anyone can get into it with a very small amount of money (I'm in a mutual fund with a minimum of $1), so I'll be talking about that a lot and how it can help people. What you should NOT do is hold onto your money in a piggy bank or a savings account with a tiny interest rate. Every year the US dollar is worth less, so if you don't invest it in something that will grow, you're going to lose money. I'll explain the power of investing $1 in another video soon.
@@Clarks-Adventure Thank you for your reply! Really understanding the stock market is hard. Before I get into that I need a solid strategy. I will be watching your other videos for sure. I have been experimenting with krypto currencies (with a tiny amount of money) but it seems to me they are useless as a long term investment. Or at least too risky.
Cripto currencies aren't a real investment. There is no means of production. They are volatile so you can gamble on them. The only real way to make profit on cripto is by mining (or as I got involved in a while ago, developing mining equipment) We have a video in the works about market theory described in a straight forward (I hope) way.

You should start a SubReddit to help build and foster your community :)
The only real way to make profit on cripto is by mining (or as I got involved in a while ago, developing mining equipment)
We have a video in the works about market theory described in a straight forward (I hope) way.
Yes....
But you didn't have kids !!
So you took the easy route ;)
