I bought the harbor, freight electric wood, splitter 5 ton exactly that same one so far no lie no joke. I had split eight full chords of big rounds of hardwood with no problem I put in 100 hours and changed the hydraulic fluid still going strong. very happy 👍👍👍

I've split 5 cords through it so far. Does what I need it to. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUyQswtttSffRMblGbrhCvZn7JkhtG1-7 I scrounge all my firewood and am not equipped to handle big wood, but for logs up to 24 inch diameter or so, it works great. I've been amazed by some of the gnarly bur oak and elm crotches it has split. For the tougher stuff within it's size range, you might have to study the piece a bit to decide the best attack, but if you split smart it's up to the job. It did arrive low on oil, and I was would have nicked it half a star for that, but it has regained my full confidence. UPDATE NOVEMBER 2021: Still going strong after all these years. I love the one-handed operation. Hope it's still in production if I ever need to replace it

For really large rounds...20" or bigger, I have the Harbor Freight 10 ton manual splitter. I use it to bust them in half, then use the electric to finish off each half. Also, this saves my back, because my electric HF 5 ton is on a stand, so I do not have to lift a very heavy log, a lot easier to lift a 50 pound chunk than a 100 pound round! I am 71 years old and been doing this for our home wood heater for over 30 years. I like the electric splitter also for making kindling as the slower speed is easier to control and I do not have to put my hand in danger with a hand axe or hatchet! I had a DR of this type, but when it crapped out after a few years I switched over to the HF electric and it is good!

I made one modification on my unit. I went back to HF and bought an adjustable bar clamp for a couple of bucks, clamped the on off button to on position and when I am ready to split wood, just plug the unit in. I have a garden cart, fill it with rounds, and park it next to the splitter. My splitter is on a stand. On the opposite side of where I stand, I have a table. When splitting, I place the log so I can catch the split near me with my left hand, and the remaining log drops onto the table. I place the split piece in the garden cart, and split the rest of that log...same procedure. I usually start by pulling a couple or 3 logs out of the cart, placing them on the table. This operation is slow for some people, but since I am 73 years old, it is fine for me and does not tire me out! HA HA

I Read manual, checked hydraulic fluid level, pressure relief vent, wing nut was loosened to almost out.
    Ran fluid bleed procedure.
Went to split first piece of wood 8" diameter and didn't even attempt to split the wood and stopped. Tried another piece of wood and triped 20 amp breaker over and over. Taking it back to harbor freight tomorrow
