I’m in no way downplaying transitions and flashy transitions but think about films and movies that don’t/rarely use that. You need good shot composition and as a director have an understand/flow for the video before you shoot to make it work. Transitions, especially wild ones, are really helpful when you don’t have anything in mind and just shoot wildly and need to make two shots connect together that may seem jarring.
