He was still badass (even more so) and cool but also real and human and he was the kind of man you could fall in love with. Sonny/Carly all Sonny was, was a mobster. Not a great lover, not a romantic, not even really a husband or a father (even though there were kids around)...he lost his humanity which meant he lost his appeal.

Constantly enabled him and his deeds.. especially when it suited and benefited them. But with Brenda he was just a man in love with a woman. Like he told Suzanne in 2010 "She gave me hope" He never had hope, not growing up the way he did... He grew up always seeing his life without love. He saw money, power, women. But never love...until Brenda. Once he felt that...there was no turning back for him, he gave his heart to her. So when he was with her, he was just Michael. Sonny was put in the corner, until needed for business.
