I bought a PRX powermatic 80 not too long ago as the first watch I’ve ever bought for myself. My dad has always worn a Tissot (previous generation PRX’s) my entire life so it made sense. Turns out, he actually owned a Tissot Seastar back in the 70’s which was the model that the newer PRX was based off of. When I found that out, I went and bought him a new PRX for Father’s Day. To me, that makes this watch mean that much more to me, having that connection to my dad.

16:06 for those who feel Sinn is no longer the value it once was, I would refer you to their “sister” brand Guinand, instead. They don’t do the more extreme tech that Sinn does, but from a sheer price-to-performance perspective, it really fills the void in the market that Sinn used to occupy. Being that Sinn himself used to own them, you’ll find a very similar design language coupled with monster specs. They also offer incredible customer service…being open to bespoke customization requests, along with top tier build quality. They’re especially good value for chronographs, often being several hundreds cheaper than comparable Sinns, with a better buying experience and basically equivalent quality.
Teddy Orient was originally marketed as a more affordable watch for LATIN AMERICA and AFRICA where battery distribution was difficult at first. That's why they only manufacture mechanical timepieces. My pick for the best under $1000 is between the seiko alpinist or the seiko gmt. Probably my favourite watch of all time is the SARB017 model of the alpinist even not regarding price point and the affordability of the seiko 5 gmt is unmatched but also is a flashy looker which looks way more expensive than it is especially with the jubilee bracelet. I've got both so I'm biased but as I said, those are my picks, I also have the bulova devil diver and mido ocean star which I believe both are very underrated.

I have a ~5.5 inch wrist and prefer to wear and have collection of 39-42mm watches, Omega Planet Ocean 42mm 8500 being most worn (one ~34mm antiques one as well in collection); just wear what you like and buy what you can. Oh, and that Casio G-Shock - what size is that 50mm+ :) (though I don't wear it, just have it). As per servicing, and as an example, Omega service costs USD600-800 (includes replacements) but then if you know who is ace and no replacements are required, go trusted cheaper service; of course if you have 25k-50K+ watches, better go 100% authorised.

A lot of the listed watches have mineral type glass. Very scratch prone. I would highly recommend Citizen. Most of their face glass is sapphire crystal.

Being from Brazil I can attest that every mall here have 3 or 4 dedicated whatch stores and they are flooded with lower prices Orients and Citzens and Casios. And than we have jewery store with some Bulova, Victorinox and some Seikos as well. I suppose your miliage may vary and I suppose here in my country Orient sells a lot more than other brands.
A lot of good topics were covered in this video. I feel I can speak a bit on the BB54 as I have tried it on and have a 7.25" wrist. I am on the taller side and I don't know this person's height, but proportionally it did not look correct on me. If the AD has a full length mirror, look in that. The sales person was seeing that same view and either way potentially sells a similar priced watch, so they weren't likely trying to lead him astray. Although the BB54 does wear bigger than 37 sounds on paper, it's still small. I personally think a BB58 is going to be better for that size wrist when thinking of a compact/vintage sized diver. For me personally, the Pelagos 39 is an even better wearing experience with its slightly larger bezel and lug width. Having tried on vintage Submariners, the wearing experience is pretty much the same with the P39. I will wear 38mm field watches, but a 38-39mm watch looks the same on my wrist as what a 36mm watch looks like on smaller wrists. Don't fall into the trap of thinking a very small watch is what you should be wearing even if it's the talk of the watch community or hyped right now. I don't go into a store and buy a medium sized t-shirt because it's the popular size. I buy what fits me. I bet that guy could get a lightly pre-owned BB58 for a good price at this point and save some money. Teddy, thanks for addressing the Seiko price thing. You really summed it up well. So many people don't seem to get that those prices back in the day were artificial so to speak and not meant to be that low. That being said, I do think some of Seiko's Prospex price increases well into 4 figures are a bit much for what they're offering with the movements/accuracy. That doesn't mean I don't want one though.
Dear Teddy, how are you? My girlfriend really liked the Longines Dolcevita ( she likes square watches in general ) but her wrist is super small so the watch looked too big on her wrist. The salesperson didn’t know what else to recommend so I would if you know anything. Love your work !
If we're being technical and not basing off of popularity I believe that the mido ocean star would be the best watch under $1000. It's light, thin, has a nice design, has a sapphire crystal with double AR coating, has an 80 hr power reserve with a strong reputation for being very accurate, 200m water resistance, great bracelets with ON THE FLY micro adjust, good lume and even a day date display. I love my ocean star in titanium, but the regular model at $1k just can't be beaten on a technical level especially in the swiss watchmaking scene.
So after the suit question, the both suit and especially non suit clothes you were wearing were pretty cool. As a guy its pretty hard to get any good clothing advice. Do think its possible that different clothes that may possibly go with different watch brands? Would you ever do a video on different clothing styles that you have for your different watches? I say this because at 41 year old guy i literally have no idea how to dress. Great watch reviews, thanks!

What do you think about (Cover Watches): Cover is a Swiss brand that not a lot of people know about it and I think it’s really underrated because their quality is really good and it’s not expensive I think it’s under a 1000$ or even under 500$ I have the Co192 Chapman Chronograph and it has a really nice specs (Dimensions:42.5 , Stainless Steel , with a sapphire glass, water resistant to 100m , movement: Ronda Quartz Cal. 5021.D) and all that under a 500$ so what do you think about it and can you make a video about it?????
Teddy Baldassrre on his choice of watches, "A lot of them are more versatile. I mean that's kinda just my philosophy in life. Everything that I decide to acquire I'm very cerebral about it. Where I look at how much use I'm going to get out of it. Can I actually apply this to my lifestyle? Does it work? Everything is developed around that central idea..... If I can't find time for those things in my life I can't I really enjoy them." Words of wisdom from the t-dawg himself
@Official_TeddyBaldassarre-__- Hi Teddy, good to uhh, text! , I've never won anything before, (except swimming and shooting matches), so, where do I sign haha?
1. I agree that under $500 Seiko is king and the better choice, Orient is less relevant. Especially because Orient QA is better, its movements are slightly more precise than Seiko and watches are offered with better crystals. A better product cannot be the winner, especially when compared to a larger parent brand that makes you pay more for an inferior product. 2. I also agree that JacobCO watches show "great engineering", especially when offering extremely useful performance and precision enhancing dual rotating tourbillons, as well as roses and movie posters inside their watches. I also admit that the music box function is what I was always missing when wearing a luxury product. I agree that the uniquely poor legibility of the watch dial and hands in this case can indeed be called "thinking outside the box". Possibly the watchmaker really wanted to either coat the crystal with black paint or apply goldplating to the crystal, but instead was forced to think of creative ways to make sure the time could not be told just by a glance at the watch face. They should make an even more limited edition of godfather watch, where the entire crystal is replaced by a piano top with Don Corleone's portrait staring straight into my eyes, him letting me know that my time is up, since this is the watch I've chosen to wear.
First watch rec? I want it to be diver and with steel bracelet. If it could be below $200 even better. Been looking at Casio duro but I have to buy bracelet seperately
A salesman telling you a watch is too large or too small is like a salesman telling you favorite color is blue or green. It’s is 100% subjective. If you like, and can afford it, but it.
Hey Teddy! What top 3 would be your go to when it comes to a watch under $500 USD on a Jubilee bracelet? I'm hoping I can find one that ill love and can buy in a couple months.
HeyTeddy, I happened onto one of your vids. It was great. I just got back into watchs. I used to have a ton of cash a couple decades ago. Bought a slew of cool stuff. 30 40 year old Rolexs , old Doxa....a couple Breitlings....nowadays I just got into the newer heritage dive stuff...bought a Certina a Squale. What in your opinion. Is a cool micro brand to invest in. I'm looking at Ocean crawler and W T Arthur....any input?
I have a Tissot T-Touch and as of June 14th, it is 15 years old. The rotating bezel broke years ago and it is on its fourth battery. But overall, the watch is still in good shape and works grate. However, the watch smith that put the last battery in said there was a lot of corrosion inside and was wondering how the watch was still working. My family and I have been going to the Outer Banks in NC for vacation the last 10 years. Maybe the saltwater hurt it a little bit. maybe. I want a new Swiss watch, that will last like my current Tissot, but I do not want to send over $550. I really like several brands that you have illustrated, Tissot is # 1, Ball, Hamilton, Sinn, and many others that I have forgotten already.. What can you Recommend? Thanks - Grate Job by the way.

Japan has Seiko.
Switzerland has Rolex.
Seiko is still a more innovative watch company.
Mass production always requires compromise between quality, cost and volume. Seiko does this better.
Seiko also puts out a lot of uninspired crap, where almost everything Rolex releases is a homerun. So that innovation comes at a cost.

I vote Seiko panda chronograph.
Been looking at Casio duro but I have to buy bracelet seperately
orient tristar is essentially done, don't expect a seiko equivalent to suddenly appear to fit some arbitrary pricing expectation
Amazing Q&A, those were some great answers.
Tissot 100% for non divers. Tissot dominates.
Filled out the top 10 but my favorite isn't there. Not surprised though lol
Tissot PRX
Absolutely Seiko 5 Sport GMT
@Official_TeddyBaldassarre-__- what did I win Teddy ?
Hi Teddy thank you
@Official_TeddyBaldassarre-__- what information you need
A salesman telling you a watch is too large or too small is like a salesman telling you favorite color is blue or green. It’s is 100% subjective. If you like, and can afford it, but it.
Any opinions on the swiss watch company bunker?
I 100% dont mind a vintage JDM gs with kanji engraving. saying something like 'thank you for your hard work at the hitachi company 1972.'
Hey Teddy! What top 3 would be your go to when it comes to a watch under $500 USD on a Jubilee bracelet? I'm hoping I can find one that ill love and can buy in a couple months.
You NEED!! To do a video on the Seiko SRPJ85. Way better field watch from Seiko.
Yes, yes! Very enjoyable 22 minutes Teddy!
What about Swiss Military Hanowa?
HeyTeddy,
I happened onto one of your vids.
Still think Seiko still offers the best overall value at this range.. although they have lost a lot of ground.
Excellent video
Are you rocking Vibergs in those walking shots? Hard to tell! Maybe oak streets or grant stone would be my guess if they are not bergs.
