      That is awesome! I had an RC plane but I’m embarrassed to even show my video when I converted it to brushless and let’s just say it did not make it very far. :-) Video is on my Chanel!
      You are welcome. Thank you for the kind words. That is awesome. You’re gonna have a track! Sounds like a lot of fun. That HBX is going to fly… Literally.

    I agree 100% , short of speed runs in a large parking lot , 40 mph is plenty fast , low 30 s even but it’s nice to have that extra power . One thing is for sure , the throttle rarely gets floored driving normally . 😂

    I almost got that pup after using an HBX 16980SA . It’s good as it comes with 2 s and 3s is an uncontrollable beast for inexperienced drivers . The smaller ones take some practice to get the steering and throttle down at high speeds so this larger version should have better handling based in size ? Thanks for sharing . HBX will have their own 3s batteries for the 16 size . I’m using a zee 50c 2200mAh , it fits , she rips . The chassis could use a steel plate underneath for durability imo .

    • @BriansRCStuff
      @BriansRCStuff  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have a modified 16890A that goes well over 50 mph and it is a HANDFULL. Yes, it is tricky to drive at speed and the 2997A is somewhat better (but far from good). When I was doing 60+ mph runs it was all over the place but it was fun as hell trying to control it! I have some great videos running it and hitting myself (and some near misses too lol).
      I didn't know HBX had 3s LIPOs. I bet the Zeee is at least as good and there are even higher performance ones out there for sure.
      I have 850 mAh 3s LIPOs (Tattu and LiperiAir) that perform as well as a 2,200 Ovonic in my 16890A (34 mph or so). If they high performance LIPOs were 2,200, they would no doubt be hitting more like 36 or 37. In my 2997A my slower 2,200 3s LIPOs hit low 40s and my fastest one (LiperiAir) hit 46 mph (and 47 on a different ESC)!
      I would love to see your 16890SA run!

    Hey man, you got two motors listed as recommended for the 2997A, I think you had it linked on another video. Which one is the best motor to get? 3650-5400kv or 3665-2700kv? Thanks again for all the info on this RC!

    • @BriansRCStuff
      @BriansRCStuff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry about that. I used the 5400 and that works well on 2S and 3S is OK but you have to monitor the motor temperature because it can get pretty hot. Forget about 4s.😂
      The 2700kv is too low (the stock motor is 3800kv so I would at least go into the 4000s but 5400 is pretty crazy if you are careful.
      On another note, I got the truck nearly as fast using two of the stock 2S batteries in series as I did three with the 5400 KV motor.

    i recently purchased the HXB 2995 ...it runs 18 mph w/ stock 550 motor and 1600 2s battery..so by switching to 2200 3s battery it would run 40+ mph..? sounds great..thx again for info

    • @BriansRCStuff
      @BriansRCStuff  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry, no.😞
      If you could adjust the gearing you might be able to get it to give 40 but that is not an option.
      As a result, you need a faster spinning motor to get those speeds. The 2997a has a brushless system capable of those speeds on 3S. If you try that on your motor it will quickly become a paper weight.

    • @BriansRCStuff

      @@BriansRCStuff So the xteam 3650 brushless motor ..would that work w/ the 2995..and what about that w/ 2s or 3s?

    • @BriansRCStuff
      @BriansRCStuff  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@whitmanft 36 in 3650 is the width in mm and 50 is the length. A 550 motor (usually used to described a brushed motor) is 36 mm in width and probably about 60mm long (maybe longer, you could measure to confirm). A 540 (usually used to described a brushed motor) is also 36mm in width but about 50 mm long. The 50 in 3650 is the length. So yes, a 3650 will fit in a truck that has a 550 motor. You could even fit a 3660 in there but I wouldn't as it will have a ton of torque (too much, even a 3650 will have a hell of a lot of torque and brushless motors make way more torque/power than brushed motors).
      Not to muddy the waters but you could consider a F540 motor (this is a brushless motor that is only 28mm internally but the outside diameter is 36mm and is the size motor that comes in the 2997A. The length of a F540 is 60mm. A F540 will have less torque than a 3650 motor and still have plenty of torque for your truck (it will not be as hard on the drivetrain as a motor with more torque). So a F540 may actually be a great way to go.
      The next thing you should consider is the kv rating of the motor. The higher the kv, the faster the motor spins but the more heat it will generate. The 2997a comes with a 3800kv motor which is a good speed for running on 2s and 3s and even 4s for a few quick speedruns (I got my 2997A up to 60 mph on the stock motor running the 2 stock 2s LIPOs in series). You could get a higher kv motor (I was running a 3650 5400kv in mine for a while and it was spicy) but not a good setup for 4s as it will spin too fast (mine failed violently as it got really freaking hot after a few 65 mph passes back to back). This setup is good for 60 mph on 3s but you need a 120A ESC for this setup as it draws a lot of amps!
      I have like 20 videos of my 2997a with various motors in it and it has gone as fast as 65 mph. If you ultimate goal is a good cheap setup that can go 40 mph on 3s, a F540 around 3500kv and a 50 or 60 amp ESC would be a great setup. If you want to go crazy, you could go with a more powerful motor and a 120A ESC.

    • @BriansRCStuff
      @BriansRCStuff  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@whitmanft This could be a great cheap setup that should have a ESC that fits in the stock location (check measurements to make sure) and be able to get up to at least mid and maybe high 40s on 3s (you may need a cooling fan as it is a 4370 which is a pretty quick spinning motor but not crazy). While the 4370 may not overheat... if you want to have a combo that is less likely to overheat, get a motor around 3500 or 3800kv (the 2997a comes with a 3800kv F540 even though it says it is a 3650..... they list the wrong motor in the specs) and I don't think it will ever get crazy hot on 3s.
