If both the family members and officers alike, are telling Brandon Johnson that they do not want him at the services, then he will be "trespassing" and should be arrested the same as anyone else who would show up at a funeral after being told they are not welcome.

Recognizing someone else’s funeral is not about you & your desires is ground level empathy. He has none so he will attempt to make a spectacle by showing up. Then when there is backlash despite being publicly for-warned he will likely position himself to the media as some sort of victim. It’s outrageous behavior for anyone but especially for a mayor to even suggest that doing this would be acceptable. If he shows up I hope the family is shielded from the spectacle and he is not allowed to cross the threshold of the door. They deserve to mourn in peace. He is an agitator to the grieving and clearly does not care.
Edit: If he truly wanted to show support after being asked not to attend he would send his condolences via flowers or contribute to whatever the family is requesting. That’s how most normal people pay respects if unable to attend a funeral. But we are obviously dealing with someone who has no self awareness; what he does have is pure audacity.

The funeral service is not about the city, it is not about the man’s service, it is about that man’s family and their grief. There is a lot to think about when you have to make arrangements for a burial and life after losing someone. The family shouldn’t have to be worrying about this.

@ it’s a tough situation, they had a family member die and while many say they understand unless they had a family member die I don’t think they would understand… when you’re working for law-enforcement or the military I think it is reasonable for taxpayers to pay the funeral cost. That’s the least we can do in these situations. There are many other tax pair expenses that wouldn’t pass the test and are very controversial, but when someone dies in line of duty, I think that’s the least we can do
