So I googled the ex bf, Deb said in this interview that they're not together anymore. But they were together in 1997 for a movie premiere. They got back together maybe?

Thanks for digging up an interview by Geraldo Rivera from Gibson's EMI days.

I think she made a big career mistake after "Electric Youth". I read that when she was in her peak, the record companies wanted to hire male song writers and producers so they could bring her music to a new level. One of these male producers was Prince. However, she refused to do that and went on to write and produce her own songs. I believe if she had done that she could have become the new Madonna, but unfortunately she was forgoten because her following albuns didn't make a lot of money as her first two. I guess she kinda lost the moment, we have to understand she rised to stardom in 1988-1990 between two decades and the music industry was kinda of feed up with 80's pop. New singers like Whitney Houston and Jennifer Lopes would get the spotlight with songs influenced by Jazz, R&B and Hip-Hop. Too bad in my opinion. Deborah was a super star, had an amazing voice and a lot of charisma. She just didn't understand what was going on around her. I wish we had a whole decade (or more) of her singing instead of only 2 years of success.

To be honest, when she was in 1989, it's hard to expect that the pop music industry would change that much after only 1 year. When we looked back, it would be easy to say that she made a mistake about her career, but at her peak, she would not think it's gonna be a problem if she was to continue her own songwriting since she already had 2 No.1 hits written all by herself at that time.
Actually, I think she has a great sense of pop music, and that's why she soon moved on to New Jack Swing in her 3rd album. She was not the one to blame. "Thanks to" Milli Vanilli, the industry did not welcome teen pop stars anymore. The radio stations just blocked them from the lists. All of the teenpop stars disappeared on charts at that time, no matter how great their music became. Only the luckiest few like Rick Astley and Kylie Minogue made a commercial revival.

Frankly, thanks to TH-cam I've seen plenty of Debbie videos in a short span of time.
I'm really inspired of Debbie's life story. And I'm taking a cue. Have also tried composing and doing some crazy dance moves with my cousin at age 7 as by then I have knowledge of musical notes from classes.
And by age 10, I topped the Music Final exam beating our Valedictorian who unexpectedly approach and congratulated me. Haha
And by age 15, I was a Seminary Church choir music director but sadly, my beat was fast as listening to Bon Jovi was my thing. Our music coordinator adviced me to listen to church songs to know the beat.
In college, I won Best Keyboard Player on a Battle of the Bands which i wasn't expecting since I knew somebody who was way more expert than I am. But I think my hard work for details won me the price. I was even nervous playing the solo intro of the song.
I wasn't as focused as Debbie. Sports was my thing, a soccer player beating the finest Military School in my country with my goal.
I'm going back to music again, thanks to Debbie's Documentaries. Will be taking voice lessons and piano lessons or even song composition. Will see what tomorrow brings
