    Jim: "Sometimes its a heavy burden being a man of science"
    Sheen: "I know what you mean Jimmy. Thats why I decided early on to sabotage my hightly scientific mind with cartoons and sugar"

      I’ve heard that by the time they made Power Hour 2 and 3, the studio that animated Jimmy Neutron had had to lay off the vast majority of their modeling department due to severe financial trouble, which is why the models for FoP characters in those specials look even worse than Timmy did in Power Hour 1. Cosmo and Wanda notwithstanding, since they were just modified versions of Timmy’s model. Apparently the intended plots had to be rewritten to accommodate these limitations.

    Jimmy is a more relatable boy genius than Dexter. The latter felt more like an adult in a kids body with some kind of sophisticated accent and had this kind of bleakness to him, as well as the show overall. Jimmy has more of a personality beyond his genius that I felt was appropriate for his age, not to mention he was into more than just math and science, whereas Dexter seemed to live in his laboratory world.

    I Legitimately Enjoyed this cartoon;
    I'm Glad to hear you say good things about the show as a whole; Even though it's Open-Source CGI Animated, and Has one of your biggest pet peeves in American Media: The DumbASH Dad; and even though He's another example of that trope you hate so much; Hugh Neutron Still ends up being one of the most FORGIVABLE examples of that Trope for you
    Since:
    A. Whenever he unintentionally Causes Problems for his son it's mostly part of the plot and not a Random One-off Joke
    B. It's made very VERY clear in Several of the show's episodes that He Legitimately Cares for His Son, and wants to help him & see him succeed(He's Not abusive to him like Homer is to Bart, or Peter is to Meg; Nor is he Neglective towards Jimmy like Timmy Turner's Dad is to Timmy)
    C. More often than not; Hugh is mostly Harmless
    D. Hugh DOESN'T pull random Interests out of his Butt; He has 2 Main Consistent Interests throughout the show that stick with him as defining traits; His Love of Ducks, and his Affinity for Pie; and it makes sense for his character to be involved and go out of his way to care for Ducks, and/or Obtain Pie

    I remember watching the crossover this had with The Fairly OddParents and since then I watched a few episodes and the movie. I even grew accustomed to the memes online and all the reviewers talking about it. I even molded part of the movie's dialogue into a story that crossed over with a fictional Thomas fanfic of mine! But anyways I'm glad you reviewed this even if it was out of chronological order.

    The problem with this show that I had at the time is that Jimmy is supposed to be a genius. But he is usually framed as being in the wrong. You can do that with like hard science fiction where brilliant minds are led astray by hubris. But Jimmy Neutron never really rises to that level. His failings are not so much do to hubris, as they are due to not considering the ramifications of his actions. But looking back on it, its something that he has in common with his dad Hugh. They are both overly goal oriented. They know what they want, and do whatever they see as necessary to get it. When others try to bring up reasons why its not worth the cost or the risk, they brush them off because that is not goal oriented thinking. Maybe this show is actually better than I remember.

    • @purplecatsaysmeow
      @purplecatsaysmeow 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Interesting insight. Also keep in mind that genius or not, Jimmy’s still a child. While he might technically be incredibly knowledgeable and intelligent, kids still have a lot of issues with planning ahead and fully being aware of the consequences of their own actions. An average kid may be focused on whether they can do a backflip in the classroom or if they can get away with eating the entire box of gushers in one sitting. But they won’t think that hard about whether they should. Jimmys still a kid but he’s also a kid with a lab.

    • @fernandobanda5734
      @fernandobanda5734 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe it's always established that Jimmy is very adept at the method but not the planning or even moral questions, because he's a child. If he could actually foresee everything and outsmart everyone, the show wouldn't exist because such a premise is just boring.

    • @Sewblon
      @Sewblon 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fernandobanda5734 I think that that is a problem with writing geniuses as the protagonist in general. If the protagonist can accurately foresee the consequences of their actions, then the show is boring. But if they are supposed to be a genius, and can't foresee the consequences of their actions, then it strains characterization and suspension of disbelief.

    According to the show's page on The Other Wiki, there was going to be a fourth season, which would've been Darker and Edgier. First, the season premiere episode "Deep Impacts" would've shown Jimmy's Final Battle with Evil Jimmy. Another episode would feature Cindy and Betty interacting with each other, Cindy and Jimmy would've finally become a couple, and Nick, who was basically Demoted to Extra in the show, would've gotten a larger role. Finally, there were going to be more appearances from the League Of Villains.

    I’m glad you reviewed this cartoon for your nick-o-Rama series, it’s one of your better nick-o-Rama reviews honestly. Jimmy Neutron is without a doubt my favorite cartoon/nicktoon of all time, and it was great hearing all of the stuff you had to say about it, . You said the many flaws it has, and your overall experience with the show, and it was perfect, I agree with all of your points in the show!
    I definitely do think that the animation in the show has aged very poorly, but it still looks great and I like it because of its 3D aesthetic it has going for it, and the 3D animation set it apart from the many nicktoons airing at the time. Being the first 3D animated nicktoon, it’s 3D animation is a true pleasure, while still feeling dated, I can say that the character movements and expressions was very much so improved in season 3, compared to season 1s stiff character movement and expressionless faces (the show felt more muted in season 1). I have noticed that there are many animation errors in the show, but honestly it’s funny to me, not really a bother, I mean it was an early 3D animated show, I was expecting animation errors honestly. I also really like how you talked about jimmys weird design, as I highly agree and Jimmys Design is very strange and weird, and would say it honestly looks better in 2D, but jimmy in general design is fine, and his little curl in his hair is very recognizable, and his design isn’t no where near as dreadful as like “butt ugly martains”. The characters are very great and distinct with their own unique personalities, while they maybe simple tropes of characters, like the two idiot friends, the love/hate girl and the stupid dad, they are indeed great takes on them, and are forgiven since they are very rememberable since the show is known to be a cult classic by most (I also like the 5 main characters colored clothes and seeing them all on one screen makes them feel like the belong together and the mesh well, with Jimmys Red Shirt, Sheens Blue, Carls Orange/Yellow, Cindys Green, and Libbys Pink/Orange, it reminds me of the Scooby Doo Gang color scheme almost.) Hugh is one of my favorite characters in the show (practically my absolute favorite) Since he is a very caring dad, and is very distinct then just being the dumb dad trope. But overall, I love this show a lot, it holds a true deep place in my childhood and I had so much memories with this show, and it made me laugh a ton. And while I get that people only talk about it for the memes, I truly care about this show, and the show overall is pretty under appreciated compared to the others, though it’s very known. I do think people should give the show a try since it is a great cartoon, and I think you should start with the movie if you want to binge watch the show, since the movie is basically the introduction of the characters. I truly hope this show gets a proper return of sorts, maybe a ACTUAL GOOD reboot series, or a Netflix Movie like Rocko or Invader Zim (Two other very amazing shows I love) since a new movie would be Perfect for Jimmy Neutron, or any revival of any sorts, it’s a golden gem of Nickelodeon and will always be my favorite nicktoon! :D

Having both Sheen and Carl usually gives either a funny joke or one of them being on Jimmy's side of the equation, and that balance is good to see. For example, when Sheen asked Jimmy about space, and Carl decided to sing over it.
