In the maddening bustle of Mumbai's Girgaum locality, a quaint little street - which often goes unnoticed - leads to the 200-year-old heritage precinct of Khotachiwadi.

Iam a khot and we come from malvan sindhudurg. Our ancestors had built lots of properties like these all over Maharashtra coastline and even in Goa. Basically the Khots were vatandars appointed by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Khots used to give lands to stay, toil and collect taxes. These properties are such those given to various communities to live. The Khots were loyal Sardars of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Disclaimer: All information collected from the history of Khot descendants and also being a Khot myself.

Very true Catholic homes like these definitely r British n.heritage. When my Mom was young she lived with cousins in Kotachiwadi. She used to tell me during Christmas the whole atmosphere n scenario was so gd that you feel in yr heart that Jesus Birthday is celebrated so well. Inwardly u feel abundantly blessed. Most of houses r of Eastindians all wealthy educated people. But now many people r migrated abroad.some people r old n cannot maintain these beautiful homes. Now people of all religions enjoy living thst place. I pray may god bless kotachiwadi n.hope the young ones will maintain this beautiful place of Heritage nShaan.of.our Amchi Mumbai
