This is the re-uploaded version of my bass playthrough of the title track of Obscura's album "Akroasis" (originally uploaded on December 2016).
In March 2022 Steffen Kummerer wrote an email to our old label asking them to delete the playthrough videos of his old band mates. This included all guitar playthroughs of Rafael Trujillo and also my bass playthroughs. We were quite suprised when we found out. These videos recieved a lot of feedback and included conversations of fans in the comment section, which had a sentimental value for all of us.
I won't talk about the moral aspect here as it's not my style to spread negativity, but nevertheless I don't want to accept these actions. This is my work, I don't want to hide my past and I surely don't like to be censored. This is why I upload some videos on my own channel now.
I also used this opportunity to optimize the visual quality, so I hope you enjoy it :)

Dude! This bassline is iconic, I am glad you re-uploaded this video, My band opened for Obscura here in Mexico back in 2016 and you were on Akroasis tour, I remember backstage you mistaken my bassist´s bass for your own because it was an identical Ibanez BTB 6 string fretless haha. I rememebr that show the execution was flawless, hope you are well!!!

exactly. like i mean it’s a tough song but he’s not like shredding on the thing. the way it was wrote it just fits the song so much better than if it were following the shred licks
Look up for never understand by Angra, you may like this one either.
One of my favourite things about obscura is the bass. More metal bands need to take influence from your bass playing, it adds a whole new dimension to metal. Too many metal bassists just play alongside rhythm guitar and never add anything extra, THIS is amazing.
Beyond creation
The basslines in this song were really influential for my bass playing! Glad you uploaded it again! Can't wait for the debut album of Obsidious!
There is something soothing yet sinister about well played fretless basslines.. Beautiful man! And nice to see that the "old" Obscura stuff is up again.
It's not fair what Steffen's doing, you are part of the obscura's history, even if you are not in the band anymore, you were an important part of it and this is my favorite album from the band, well anyway, we can't do anything with his new ways to think and thanks for re-upload bro

If you have not already, look into first fragment, equipoise, beyond creation, and augury. They all have amazing fretless bass players. If any at least check out first fragment, it’s actually quite incredible. Also I doubt I have to mention cynic lol.

So, out of all the metal/rock I've heard, this truly is one of the greatest songs ever. Trivium is in my top 3, and this song I would say surpasses possibly everything they've done.

That's great to hear. Ten Sepiroth I will post in a couple of days. Diluvium I can't upload anymore unfortunately. Steffen wrote that he would block all videos where he was involved in any way. In the Diluvium playthrough we used his camera and he pressed the "record" button.
Sad that the original upload got removed, however it is great that it was reupload by the musician who composed this bassline, one of my favorites in all of metal.

Holy Moses man you can definitely play a 7-string fretless bass guitar very well, I ordered a BTB7E 7-STRING BASS-GUITAR & it's being made I think in some Asian country where most exotic 7-string bass guitars are being made for certain bassists who wants the bass with medium size strings & how the body is made by stronger wood materials! I'm not hating Steffen or labeling him a bad guy, but I'd be interested to hear an explanation from him as to why he would want these videos taken down.
Rafael asked him in an email and his response was that our videos are not compatible to Obscura's current campaign.
@@LinusKlausenitzerBass What does that even mean? I don't see any reason for this to be taken down. If fans can cover Obscura's music, the musicians who actually played with them can certainly do it too.

This song was my graduation song during production school, i faced hell to produce a mediocre cover, all my guitarist fucked off at recording time but i was able to play the whole song in a custom 4 string fretless p bass, having the support of my teacher whom backed all my suffering in arrangement, drum transcription and seeing guitarists fall like flies was an amazing thing
