    A classmate and I in university didn't have much in common and didn't socialize at all for like the first few years of our program, but then we were working on student play he'd written and got to talking. He played guitar and loved Brian's work. I was already a seasoned Queen fan, so when he said, "Do you know this song, 'It's Late'?" I was like "Darn right! It's a great song!" A few days later in the theatre, I surprised him by putting the CD on. Across the room, he looked over and was, "Nice!" with a thumbs up.

  • @helmsylvanian
    @helmsylvanian 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Fun fact, at 10:44 and 14:47 the loud sound or high pitch you hear is Freddie's scream! Not the guitar playing! It's Freddie screaming!

    One of my all time, absolute favourite Queen songs. Transitions a-plenty, lyrics that describe what we have all been through or thought about, Brian's god-like guitar riffs, Roger killing it on the drums, and John's incessant bass beat. And, of course, the unsurpassable vocals of Sir Freddie. A song of epic proportions - you really have to wonder how this wasn't the smash hit that it thoroughly deserved to be.

    I remember asking my college friend (avid Queen fan) what’s your favourite Queen track? ...answer... It’s Late!...now
    I know why...analysing these songs reveals many hidden qualities which could have been overlooked back in the early days . Kids today are very open-eyed and pick up on things we old fogies overlooked! They love THEIR music, but give time out to listening to these golden oldies and even sing along and dance to it!

    Favourite part of this song ? Well for me it’s the harmonies my boys belt out , Freddies voice of course, the transitions all through the song, Rogers drums, Brian’s guitar , Johns bass line - think that pretty much covers it. I just love every minute detail of it. Good to see you enjoying it so much too. One of my favourite tracks penned by Brian.

    My favorite part of this song is that it never got much attention, a song like that with that much quality would be a milestone for many other bands but for Queen it was just a song like many others because pretty much their entire catalogue are hits or very well know songs. They made so many timeless songs for eternity, that a song like this one isnt anything exceptional by their standards. This is the crazy part about Its Late to me.

    How many times? Couldn't possibly count the number. Sure, some weeks go by without listening to it, and then some days, end on end, when I TH-cam every variant reaction of this masterpiece for hours. Maybe that's because it resonates so closely to my own story, and then maybe just because it is so goddamn amazing, musically and lyrically. All your fault, Brian - but I am a willing, enamoured, (hopefully) aware, and captive slave nonetheless *sigh*

    OMG yes! Almost nobody reacts to It's Late and it's one of my favourites. As soon as you said you were looking out for harmonies I knew you were going to love the chorus! Some more "rare" suggestions for you: Liar, Misfire, You and I, Spread Your Wings (okay, sorry, just John's songwriting is so underrated), Long Away, Some Day One Day, Nevermore, Fun It. And of course...just because I have to share the sads...No-One But You. Search up the official videos because even if the song doesn't have a video clip the official Queen channel will have a lyric video for you.

    Such an underrated masterpiece, of epic proportions. It has everything, musically, plus an amazing storyline. I seriously don't know where you get this "dope" comment from, though - a dope is a naive fool, ignorant and unaware, and is so far removed from anything and everything that Queen ever produced, that it demeans both you and them. But while your reaction to the actual musical aspect of this song is pretty good, maybe an observation about the poignancy of the lyics (we've all been there at some point) would go down well. But don't stop - I do like your style.
