David Matthews and Friends. Featuring Ryan Kisor Trumpet, Andy Snitzer Saxophone, Chip Jackson Bass and Dave conducting, arranging and at the Piano. Also featuring the Manhattan Strings.
Ryan and Andy give a lesson in melodic improvisation and soloing that suits the style of the song. No needless pyrotechnics when you have nothing to prove .. They are my favorite tenor trumpet combo ... Great tones and tasty licks ..
I agree with you Obergsson, no pyrotechnics, just blended with the style of Matthew's superb arrangement and fitting perfectly David Matthew's brilliant talent as an orchestrator and arranger.
Oh ... restrained, beautiful ideas ,,, no over blowing ... great feel. Love it! This guy is very very efficient on the trumpet ... great embrouchure, with nothing moving.
I am sure my parents had the pleasure of dancing to Ryan Kisor as he started traveling some with the Eddie Skeets band when he was like 10 or 11. I love his buttery smooth sound. He does these old standards flawlessly. Love the saxophonist just as much.
this is nice and i like ALL kinds of music quality all the way.this is a very smooth classy outfit.dont worry these boys are well capable of a tear up when its called for.
Que lujo....!!!! lindos arreglos ....buenos solistas, muy buena interpretación...!!! GRACIAS POR ESTO...GRACIAS A DAVID.... QUE IDEAS MAS FRESCAS TIENE..!
Wow, you gettin' owned! Seriously though, why the hate? Everyone has their tastes; just because everyone else that's not you likes this, you shouldn't impose your own opinion.
Take away the sheet music and play, this isn't Gershwin... Jazz should be raw, and this shit is overcooked. It is a good thing these guys have lots of friends and family posting encouragement here. Boring and uninspired trumpet & sax playing regardless of their great training. Good job "Manhattan Jazz Orchestra", I now respect Kenny G.
Nice! A lovely arrangement. It would have been perfect for me if the opening refrain had been included; I really like that. Still wondering how Ryan gets such an upright embouchure; a lovely tone.
That tenor sax player; his face is soo chill. I can tell he really enjoys this. lol

Miles Davis and Cannonball Adderley is a pretty unbeatable combo as far as soloing goes

Che bell'atmosfera. I soli sono bellissimi. Non una nota fuori posto. Giovani e con grandi sensibilità e gusto. Complimenti.
Beautiful trumpet playing. Reminds me of Chet Baker - one of my favorits.

Ryan Kisor is such a wonderful player.

I love those velvet tones coming through... a great extension to the tune...
TERRY SILVERLIGHT on drums
Espetacular a interpretação e construção de frases melódicas do Andy Snitzer.
Damn you Andy! I'm so jealous of that tone
It´s just great to hear an ole favorite come to life with such
a great crew of musicians....well done!!!!
when you are improvising, you must tell a story or a feeling, not just following a score, go back to the real music and listen
maybe you should listen, and stop watching the video. ryan kisor doesn't tell a story?? smh....
WoW.
Ryan you're such a jazz cat!
Swing on bro!

Brano che ha fatto sognare milioni di innamorati americani. E non solo.
Non solo americani..
Wow! Now this is really MUSIC, something you rarely hear anymore. I wish we still had that sound today in popular music.

A very fine jazz orchestra who know what to do with the jazz standards and the strings add the contrast and background.
