Saw this link on the subreddit. Thank you so much. There is in fact a lack of this kind of content on TH-cam. Please keep this going.

Thank you - they need more beginner strategy with explanation videos online. Keep going on these going through more strategy. Views will pick up once discovered! I like that you didn't talk 1 mile an hour.Maybe when I'm decent in 10 years I'll make some if no one else has stepped in.

Loving the contents! Hard to find anything like this for beginners. Thank you for the hard work. Also huzzah, in your 1,000 sub! Nicely done and congratulations on the milestone!

You should definitely do a more crisp new 2020 Go for beginners. I find learning this game very difficult compared to chess because with chess, there is way more content about it.

yes, i am planning to drop all new content once we hit 1k subs with better production.

Good video there is a lack of basic tutorials like this so I'm happy to see someone made one. At 18:55 white can cut the stones at the star point so the two stones black started with is not connected. I think the black 3 space extension is an example of where the stones can technically be cut but where black usually ends up in a superior position if white cuts it, the one space jump towards the center is another example of this. At 20:35 there are still other big moves on the side (like 3-6 approach on the lower left or securing the corner on the top right) so I wouldn't say that the one space jump is the best move but it is good.

Thank you for the video, it was great. Just the content I was looking for. Just a quick question - At 15:45 and 17:40 how are our stones connected? I know that they are connected as a group of 2 and 3 (respective to the time stamps) on the left side, but the top and bottom stones aren't. I thought that stones that are diagonal from each other weren't connected. Is the main focus here the fact that our stones on the left are connected, and not the top and bottom ones?
Also at 18:12 - 18:20 you say that 'all' of our stones are connected but there are three distinct groups: the two blacks stones on the left, the two black stones just diagonally under them, and the single black stone above.
And then lastly at 18:55 - 19:01 you say all of our stones are connected but I still don't see how as there's a lot of diagonals there. I'm really really bad at Baduk so please pardon my ignorance.

at 18:42, why doesn't white take the black stone and form a little eye?

    • @davedevosbaarle

White's game move also works to kill black's 2nd line stone. Capturing instead would even be risky for white, because black can then atari white's 3rd line stone, more or less sealing white in and more or less forcing white to connect and fill his little eye (so it wouldn't be an eye).

@@davedevosbaarle thanks for reply. After an extra week of watching game tips I see this. I'm usually good at games and puzzles but this game is insanely complicated for beginner - constantly knowing that you don't know anything. lol.

At 3:09 you would need 16 stones, not 17.

16 pieces to surround 9 in the middle

I’m confused about the part where you said it would take 17 stones to surround 9 points in the center. Only 16 stones can fit around 9 points.

You said 5-6 instead of 4-6 many times. It's really nothing but I couldn't help but say for some reason.
