I remember people commenting about Mexican makeup in her last video and thinking “But there’s not a particular way of doing makeup in Mexico(?)”... and now, seeing her video I get where she gets her inspiration from: classical makeup used in folkloric dances and old Mexican movies (Gold era of Mexican cinema makeup style): warm eyeshadows, rosy blush and red lips, sculpted face and full eyebrows are also a classical staple in Mexican beauty. It’s a gorgeous look!
Your Mexican side is so on-point! You pinned-down that look sooo well. That's the way I was first taught to do my makeup, almost step by step. 😛 ❤️ from Mexico!
Love this ICONIC Mexican look. I believe you pull inspiration from the Iconic looks from different countries. Do all Mexican women wear this daily? No. But this is very Tipico Mexícano. Dark brown hair, bold red lip, flirtatious eyes, and a warm flush to the skin. I think it’s absolutely beautiful and you nailed it. Love these videos! How about American v. Russian or American v. Norwegian?
Thanks! I hope there are enough differences in that amount of gap. If not go back to 1988. If you do it.....shout out would just make my year! I actually was a teenager in 1988, so not your usual subbie age! lol
Why all this drama? I’m proud to be Mexican and I love the Mexican side makeup, she’s doing just an overall “kind” of Mexican makeup that’s not mean that everyone wear makeup like that, no manchen 😂 dejen el borlote no es para tanto, al final cada quien se maquilla de la manera que quiera y le guste!!! Love all your videos Christen, so pretty and talent!!!
I agree, it's not that all mexican girls and women(I'm Mexican and live in México) wear that same look for everyday, this is like an inspiration, from movies or soap operas (or telenovelas), but really like the end result, love the flower on the ear =D very Salma Hayek in Teresa xD
Why is everyone getting offended? Lol. I'm Mexican and this video of the Mexican side is exactly what I think of for the Mexican culture. Obviously nowadays Mexican makeup has turned more into American makeup. Nothing wrong with that. I love how Christen is showing the traditional side of the Mexican culture. Growing up I always saw my mom and grandmother with the bold colored lip, blush, and the classy wing liner. For those who think this is stereo typical, y'all need to come down. Nothing stereotypical here. I'm a proud Mexican and I love the traditional and modern Mexican makeup! #thisismexicanmakeup #calmdownyall
Silvia Delgado Tell that to half of the butt hurt idiots in the comments. It’s really getting on me nerves. I doubt any of them actually are Latinos and are just mixed who think they know. I hate it how they shove words down out mouths.
I think she's focusing on mainstream make for both countries... so for the most part I agree with her recreation of Mexican makeup, especially the eyeshadow!
Diana Hernandez it's not a lie, not everyone is going to do the same type of makeup, she's doing the makeup that people generally wear at parties or to represent their culture, hence also the flower.

Mariel Matias that's my point, that's doesn't represents our parties or something like that , she is just following stereotypes from films and tv
I’m Mexican and I love this video. And am not offended AT ALL. The makeup she did was beautiful and should be taken as a compliment. She’s doing the “classic novella” makeup look, just like on the American side is the “classic Instagram” makeup look. YES she is doing the stereo typical makeup looks, but THAT IS THE POINT OF THIS SERIES. because different styles of makeup come from different places. And just be thankful she is being DIVERSE, and exploring different cultures, unlike a lot of people who want to only recognize their culture in this world. ❤️
Girl I love how you did this video comparing the two cultures and I did not know you were half Mexican, well that explains why I like you so much lol. Im full Mexican and I also have dry skin so I always look at your videos for inspiration when it comes to doing my makeup and guess u can say I’m in between when it comes to doing a full face, my parents are from Mexico and I was born in the US. Just glad to see people appreciating different cultures looks and style, Love youuu ❤️ Viva Mexicoooo! 💕🇲🇽
As I’m watching the video, I seriously don’t see how so many people are offended 🤔. I love this video! I’m sure it’s referred to the typical Mexican inspired makeup, especially with that red lip 💋and the blush. ❤️🇲🇽
Nowadays I think that all of us ‘western world ladies’ rock almost the same techniques, so I don’t know if there is much of a difference! But I LOVED the comparison and I can’t wait to see a take on ‘American VS Brazilian’ makeup! You look beautiful btw, Christen! ❤️😘
I am Mexican and I have always done my make up like the French or koreans, not on purpose but I am prefer more natural looks. My every day make up would be korean and my more dramatic going on out make up is french.
I’m Mexican an I used that kind of make up she did it for night clubs, and for the day I use more the French style, more natural. And if I need it, it’s more easy to transform the make up, to a party make up
I am from Germany 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪 and i Love you so much❤ you are sooo beautiful😍😍😍 and I'm already super stoked about it. Lovely greetings from Germany 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪 Ich liebe dich ❤❤❤ Karina
I'm Mexican and you literally used my daily make-up rutine haha. The only difference is that I live for the highligth and I prefer darker lip colors (like dark red or straight up black lipstick).
All these ppl getting angry obviously have never seen classic Mexican films, they all rocked bold eyebrows, rosy cheeks, and bold red lips. Beautiful Mexican actresses like Maria Felix, Dolores Del Río, Elsa Aguirre and Lupe Velez had this look, so beautiful and timeless.
that inspirational tidbit at the end actually made me tear up... I feel as though I've been struggling so much lately by comparing myself to others and by trying to find my own path in life. Christen, thank you so much for caring about your subscribes and for trying your best to encourage us. We greatly appreciate it. Love you girly!
You should definitely do an American vs Indian(not Native American) I was born in India and I love seeing the old fashioned makeup. I want to see you execute it beautifully!
Australian would be boring, it's virtually identical to the typical American style of make-up both in the natural and glam departments. Even a majority of the products we use are the same.
I’m Mexican and I find it to so funny how everyone is so offended by this haha so typical of Mexicans 😂 I do agree that I haven’t heard about a “Mexican makeup”, pretty sure we do the same things that Americans do. Maybe you were talking about the makeup they do on typical dances or stuff like that. But I wouldn’t generalized the makeup to everyone else, so I would suggest next time you do a video like this maybe mention where did you get the inspiration from. 😘 love your videos
Every culture does makeup a little different and they have different trends. I think she understands that very clearly. The same as Americans love their blinding hightlight, Mexicans love their blush. I get what she did and I would embrace it, instead of getting offended. Like you said it is typical though!
Camila Haller i'm agree, jajaja yeah its so funny bc she inspires makeup in a mexican dances well that the most obviously but, whatever, i love this video
What you trying to say about mexicans we do get offended by " oh well typical mexican" like if your not Mexican dont come for us that was really offenceive
So many “offended” people on here .. jeez chill .. she’s just describing the makeup, not the people. Let her breathe. Ever heard of flirty lashes? Ever heard of feminine looking makeup? Jesus Christ .. go be offended for things which are way more serious than a makeup look. There are bigger problems in this world
I'm mexican, and I thought it was pretty accurate. Sure, not everyone does their makeup like this (I personally like to use makeup very lightly and tend to lean more towards a natural look), but as a general view of the current makeup trend in México I think it's pretty spot on. It's 100% right that there aren't THAT many differences between american and mexican makeup styles. Why? Because being so close to one another, a lot of the beauty products mexicans consume ARE american. There's also a lot of influence coming from that side of the border on how to do hair, makeup, skincare, etc. If you go to a random mexican supermarket you'll see most of the makeup in the corresponding section WILL be american. So very well done, you! You managed to capture what's going on in today's makeup world while still preserving some style differences!
I can't understand the "Latinos" bitching about the flower, most of yall were born in USA, also she is talking about MEXICAN makeup, I was born and raised on this amazing country and trust me, I know so many women (including myself) that love to put flowers on their hair.
I'm Mexican and I think that both countries have the same makeup style since they are so close to each other other and Mexican culture is so influenced from the american , we love highlith tho
Tiffany Aurora maybe she did Mexican from like the old school black and white movies. Back when mexican women wore frilly dresses with flowers in their hair? Now adays they just wear mac makeup and date narcos.
LOVE THIS!!! Im Mexican and I didn't know I was doing my make up in a mexican way lol but the shadows were very close to what I do and also the wing and blush. I don't really do the red lip because I prefer berry or neutrals for my skin tone.
yay!! i'm loving this! 😍it makes me so happy that you're doing this to represent your culture! i'm Mexican-American & im proud of having Mexican blood ❤️ Viva Mexico!🙌🏼🇲🇽
You look awesome! Could you do Turkish makeup next? I’m half Turkish and I would like to see proof that people know my country exists. I love this series and I hope it continues to do well!!! Edit: Sorry if I have any errors in my Spanish and I’m ALSO sorry for not including accents .p.
It's good, i mean, it has some mistakes but I can understand it. Just as a comment: You don't need to write always "Yo", or the pronoun, as it does in english. when you write "ME gusta la cultura", you're automatically saying that's YOU, because the pronoun its included in ME. also "ESTUDIANDO" it's gerund, so, as in english, it has to have something like was/were. ME GUSTA LA CULTURA DE MÉXICO, Y YO -ESTUDIO ESPAÑOL/ Y LLEVO ESTUDIANDO ESPAÑOL- DESDE HACE OCHO AÑOS. But as I said, your Spanish can be easily understood. (I'm Mexican, so...) also, sorry for my mistakes in English.
Thanks for the feedback! I'm currently trying to improve my Spanish crazily as of recently. I really do appreciate the help, my goal is to fluently speak four languages by the time I'm fourteen. (I'm already at three, not including Spanish!) Thanks for the help!
You can also use the Spanish keyboard to use the “Ñ” with words like “Español” and “años”. It is an important letter because there are many words with it (:
I am Mexican, I am from CDMX and yessss! This is how I do my everyday makeup look! Of course not exactly same, but I love red lipstick, the winged liner and my lashes needs to pop! And yes, I dont use a lot of bronzer, I preffer doing 'drapping ' or something like that just with my blush, love it!!! 👏❤❤❤❤
American vs. the Czech Republic would be interesting. I’m Czech, Polish, and German so any of those countries get my vote. P.S. I usually don’t comment but wanted to say that I love your videos and look forward to that notification that you uploaded a new one. It’s like my weekly therapy lol.
This is the most interesting series E-V-E-R! I love it so much! Great idea! Maybe you can do Indian or Brazilian makeup someday. I'm Brazilian. I would love to know how you see our makeup style. 😗😗😗
I love it! And im mexican american as well and idk how anyone finds this offensive. When you google mexican makeup (which im sure she did) every woman on there had a red lip and same eye look but used different colors. I love this series ! ❤
+Alexandria I live in a border city next to Mexicali and I am very aware that there is a difference in style. Just like Americans like their highlight Mexicans like their blush. My mother was born in Mexicali and she uses her red color lipstick as her blush. There is nothing offensive about it.
vvlkrs24 yess everyone has their own style and oh wow. Thats cool using lipstick as blush!! Gotta use what you got! Thats why i love makeup! You can use it for anything. !
I agree! We just went to a wedding where the bride’s family was from Brazil, and the women were some of the most cosmopolitan I’ve ever seen. And their clothes were unspeakably fabulous!
I HAVE AN IDEA: what if you do American makeup comparisons from different time periods? For example 1950s makeup vs today’s makeup or 1900’s vs 2000’s
suspicious donut you can watch that video withhhh the TH-camr Laura Cortes channel c:
suspicious donut I like this idea 👌🏼

Diana Laura Ayyy y siii😍
totally agree this isn't really how we do our makeup but i get where she gets the inspo its beautiful anyways!

When you see traditional folklore dances, how’s the girls make up done? Just like this! 🙄
This is more traditional makeup. I still wear my makeup more this way. I have pics with flowers on my hair specially during our holidays.

Camila Haller i think she is inspired by the novelas they are dramatic with the make up
Camila Haller i'm agree, jajaja yeah its so funny bc she inspires makeup in a mexican dances well that the most obviously but, whatever, i love this video
Hi
What you trying to say about mexicans we do get offended by " oh well typical mexican" like if your not Mexican dont come for us that was really offenceive
Love this tutorial! I am definitely trying the Arabian & Mexican look!!
Beautiful representation of Mexico ❤️🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽❤️
aYes
So many “offended” people on here .. jeez chill .. she’s just describing the makeup, not the people. Let her breathe. Ever heard of flirty lashes? Ever heard of feminine looking makeup? Jesus Christ .. go be offended for things which are way more serious than a makeup look. There are bigger problems in this world
...when I lived in Mexico I noticed women wore more hot pink lipstick and simple winged eyeliner with emphasis on blush and mascara.
Caroline for everyday yes, but trust me for posadas or going out at night it’s a red lip 90% of the time
Why is this true omg😂 I mean not me but I see my mom do that as a every day look😂
Omg posadas are the real shit in Mexico
Can you do an indian/bollywood style against american ?? Xx
I was about to complain about the mexican side untill i realized thats exactly the same look im wearing...
Patty Gastélum Same🙃
You should do some based on decades 90s vs now or 50s vs now.
Abril Hodge that's a really good idea
Yes! Decade themed would be awesome!
That’s a great idea!
I can't understand the "Latinos" bitching about the flower, most of yall were born in USA, also she is talking about MEXICAN makeup, I was born and raised on this amazing country and trust me, I know so many women (including myself) that love to put flowers on their hair.
I was born and raised in Mexico City. That make up is not what we wear and the flower is very stereotype in the US, you will not find it in Mexico.
American vs Argentinian 🇦🇷 💛💕🎉
I'm Mexican and I think that both countries have the same makeup style since they are so close to each other other and Mexican culture is so influenced from the american , we love highlith tho
Tiffany Aurora maybe she did Mexican from like the old school black and white movies. Back when mexican women wore frilly dresses with flowers in their hair? Now adays they just wear mac makeup and date narcos.
As a Mexican, I agree with you somehow, but I usually do my makeup as the mexican side.
Briseida Favela hahahah narcos, Yeah maybe
LOVE THIS!!! Im Mexican and I didn't know I was doing my make up in a mexican way lol but the shadows were very close to what I do and also the wing and blush. I don't really do the red lip because I prefer berry or neutrals for my skin tone.
I love the Mexican one !omg it's so beautiful
All my Latinas where u at?!
Priscilla Guzman 🙋 🌷
mexicans* we mexicans are not the only latinos :)
💃🏻🌹💁🏻♀️

i didn’t realize i was watching this while eating a tamale and drinking champurado until now 😂🇲🇽❤️
itsashley.5259 😂 really?!!!!!

Lucky 😫😂😍
yay!! i'm loving this! 😍it makes me so happy that you're doing this to represent your culture!
i'm Mexican-American & im proud of having Mexican blood ❤️
Viva Mexico!🙌🏼🇲🇽
You doing good 🤗!
how old are you?? i´m 16, almost 17 and only speak spanish (my native language) and english (fluent btw), and i feel like a champ 😂😂
I love it!!! An African vs American would be cool, or like a different decade vs now would be nice to see the change over time!!!
perfect
MANJOT NAGI +1 😍😍
I was waiting for you to put blush on your nose 😂 I swear my mom always tells me to put blush on my nose, most of the time you can’t even tell lol 🇲🇽
American vs. the Czech Republic would be interesting. I’m Czech, Polish, and German so any of those countries get my vote.
P.S. I usually don’t comment but wanted to say that I love your videos and look forward to that notification that you uploaded a new one. It’s like my weekly therapy lol.
Yassss girl! And yes las mexicanas we love used red lips, María Félix vibes! Arriba México!

Persian vs American
Hiva Mohammadzadeh she did Arabian make up . Is it similar?
Hiva Mohammadzadeh Persian makeup is very similar to Arabic and there is already a video on that
Oh okay
But I think it’s different
Hiva Mohammadzadeh the only difference is eyebrows Persians like their eyebrows shorter and more straight while arabs like a thick arch
Love love love this ❤️ Didn’t know you’re half Mexican but that’s soooo coooool 🇲🇽
I enjoy your comparison videos.. please make videos Spanish vs American makeup and Japanese vs American makeup 🤗
Do a Latin look
YESSSSS!
This is latin...Mexicans are latinos
“latin” is a broad term... i think she needs specifics.
Jaqueline Levaro ^
Jaqueline Levaro that doesn't make any sense. What would a 'Latin' look be? The countries and cultures are all very different.
She reminds me of Veronica from Riverdale for some reason.
tori s omg yes ,that's who she reminded me of! No wonder I kept saying to myself ,she really looks like someone I know
tori s ikr I love riverdale so much
I ship jockhead and betty
Yes she does
She really does I saw her in one of her other videos and I was like “is that Veronica from Riverdale?”
tori s She reminds me of Jessica Alba, and sounds like her to me 😃
You’re half Mexican? I had no idea 😂 I’m Mexican-American and I appreciate this 😁
Aranxa Melgarejo Haha so this vedio is definately for you 😁
I love it! And im mexican american as well and idk how anyone finds this offensive. When you google mexican makeup (which im sure she did) every woman on there had a red lip and same eye look but used different colors. I love this series ! ❤
I totally agree! If they google it all they will see is a red toned lip and blush for days. Haahaahaa
vvlkrs24 my mom had a friend from mexico. Mexicali to be exact and she always wore her makeup like the Mexican side.
Would love to see any makeup tutorial from brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
jagaira cintora I was thinking the same thing
Brazilian make up would be Awesome!
Pleeeeeease
Jagaira Cintora brazilians represent
I agree! We just went to a wedding where the bride’s family was from Brazil, and the women were some of the most cosmopolitan I’ve ever seen. And their clothes were unspeakably fabulous!
Both sides look gorgeous 😍 the mexican makeup is just on point!
You should do American and Chinese ! Love this comparison ❤
Can you do an American vs Indian look
💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽 I find this to be sooo accurate 👌🏽. Honestly feel naked if I walk out without blush 😅
I am mexican and i totally fell in love with the mexican side. i love your videos :) you are so pretty
