    Hey guys, two corrections (thanks for the comments): The read sight apparently is metal. Second, the rifling is 6 groove and not the original micro groove.

      Thank you for the great video. And thank you for the correction. I was like “micro groove?”….”PLASTIC REAR SIGHT LEAF?!” I didn’t see either of those on my new 94 44. And I also like the distinction of the 18” on the 357 vs the 20” on the 44. The model 39M in 22lr I had came equipped with a 20” lighter contoured(as opposed the the heavier octagonal) round bbl. I really like the way the 20” handles. But I can also appreciate the handiness of a 16-18” lever gun. If you have any influence at all in the gun community I ask you, please let Marlin(Ruger) know that a 39M in 22lr and an M444 in 444 Marlin are highly desirable Marlin Models. Thank you for everything that you do. I’ve been a sub for a couple of years now and haven’t been disappointed

I'm in south Texas. The deer are smallish. The big Midwest deer? Think I would want something bigger. That buck was a cull spike. Field dressed just over 125 lbs. I bought a 1894 Winchester in 44 mag brand new in 1987. I shot at least 3000 rounds through it and killed every kind of game out there. I could never part with it. I had an original Marlin gold trigger modle 336 in 30-30 made in 1972 and it was as smooth as butter. I loved that rifle too, but traded it, and regretted it since. I bought a new Marlin 1885 Limited in 45- 70 back in 1994 with a 24" octagon Ballard cut barrel for cowboy action shooting that I still have. Very nice rifle too, and always wanted to take an Elk with it. I can still remember in 1984 when I was still in college, a local gun shop had a 1894 Marlin in 357 for $250, in great shape. I was poor and couldn't afford it. Always regretted not borrowing the money from grampa and just going ahead and buying it so mom wouldn't find out. ( Grampa was her dad and would keep it secret). Now with these new Marlins coming out, maybe I can finally own one. Thanks again Mac for your content. I am a dedicated viewer.

      @@Militaryarmschannel As I understand it, in 357 and 44 mag they switched from microgroove to Ballard style rifling (way) back in the 90s. FortuneCookie45LC has some videos comparing the two two rifling, and per wikipedia: "In the mid-1990s, Marlin changed the .357 and .44 barrels from 12-groove-or-more "Micro-Groove" rifling to 6-groove "Ballard"-style rifling.[1]"

    @rileyneufeld7001 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +22

    Lovely looking rifle glad to see marlin getting back to quality work! The reason people had issues with cast lead bullets with the micro groove barrels were they were using undersized bullets for the barrel. Not allowing the grooves to get a good bite into the bullet to stabilize them. This would also allow gasses to travel past the bullets and cause extreme leading of the barrels in short order.

I put a Skinner peep site on it and I cut 6" ( not compressed ) off of the magazine spring. I looked at the offerings from Miroku /Winchester, very nice and very expensive. and Henry. Very heavy. I have no regrets for buying the Remlin. Shooting .38 Special ammo there is almost zero recoil and it's surprisingly quiet. The longer barrel gives the already potent .357 magnum and big boost in velocity. It's light and handy and just fun to shoot.

    The first rifle I bought when I turned 18 was a JM marked 1894 in .357. It's a fabulous rifle. The only issue I've had (and the reason for the comment) was a vertical screw walking loose on the underside of the receiver ahead of the lever pivot screw...something to do with the shell catch. If (when) it comes loose, less than even a full turn loose, it locks up the action by releasing multiple shells at once. Threw a dab of loctite on there about 18 years ago and haven't had another issue. Really glad to see that Ruger did it right in getting these back into production.

      @@juanspicywiener you're obviously not keeping up with the progression of modular rails, options, and platforms for lever guns, and if you want a light on a weapon, even if there's not a bracket or mount for it, its not that hard to do. Necessity being the mother of invention and all that.

    I have two lever action Marlins. My first one is an early model 336 that belonged to my grandfather. According to Marlin's records, the serial number shows that it was made in 1952. It does not have the micro groove rifling nor is it drilled and tapped for a scope. The second is an early production 1894 in .357 Magnum. All of the early Marlins had two small screws on the rear of the left side of the action. When removed they match the mounting pattern for a Williams receiver sight. I have a Williams receiver sight on the 336 and a red dot on the 1894. Both are fine rifles.

    My wife has a InterArms 92 SRC (357 mag), which was the basis for the Rossi 92 when they purchased IA, and it's her favorite gun...she can part the hair on a fly at 50 yards 😉🤔🤠. Most time she shoots 38 spcl (less expensive).

    Really good video, I really love the lever guns (and my ARs too), I had an early 2000'''s vintage marlin, it was nice but something about it was missing, the fit and finish, the shot well, but the feel in the hand just was not as good as I expected. Fast forward to today, I stumbled across one of the new Ruger-Marlins and loved it, I ran my hand over every seam and found it to be really, really nice to the touch, the action was very smooth (I guess other customers ran the action too). I should have bought it there and then, but I decided to wait a while until there are more out there and the price, though not terrible, comes down a little. Thanks for your review.

    I purchased two Winchesters many years ago, both purchased new. One was a Big Bore in .375, the other was a 94AE in .44. The Big Bore was well made with a gorgeous finish. The USRAC made 94AE had a lackluster finish and mediocre fit. It shot okay, until part of the lift mechanism just cracked and broke. When I could afford a new replacement, I went to Henry, as the Ruger Marlins were not yet available. I really wanted the gorgeously finished Henry Big Boy, but I had to be more practical -- that is, I wanted one for home defense, needed a threaded barrel, and bought the X model. I don't regret purchasing it, as it fits my needs. But I miss the gorgeous finish. I'd like to get the Marlin 1894, but it is even more expensive than the Henry!

      I have a Remlin 336 in 30-30. I've never had to send it back. It works and is accurate, but I will say the fit and finish wasn't good. The wood to metal fit was bad and you could feel the edges of the wood. I said screw it and just bought some black synthetic furniture for it which actually fits better than the stock wood and just left it like that. Not the best looking gun, but she runs at least. These new ones look sooooo good though. Too bad the price is a bit high in my opinion.

    Freedom Group was a Holding company. Holding companies control the operations and assets of the companies they acquire. Their sole interest is maximizing profits, quality be damned. As the victim company begins dying, it is leveraged to the hilt and offered for sale. If this fails, bankruptcy liquidation ensues. The principals and shareholders of the holding company waddle off with pockets full of cash, leaving another destroyed manufacturer in their wake.
    I believe Cerberus was the culprit in the downfall of Remington. They almost destroyed Chrysler too.

    This is a rifle everyone should own. Why? It can do whatever you need a rifle to do for sport and defense. If fires a versatile 38/357 round d. Ammunition is cheap, reloading is easy. You can plink with cast bullets at around 900-1000 fps 38, move up to hard hitting 357 loads. Can pair it with anything from a 38/357 revolver to share same ammo. Both the ammo and rifle will be unrestricted for the foreseeable future, and a lever rifle is pretty much legal everywhere. It traveling interstate in an RV , would leave handgun home, take a 16-18 12/ 357 lever rifle , avoid jhp if passing through NJ, a pump 12 gauge shotgun, and a 22 rifle, either a lever or Ruger 10/22 stock configuration , that’s my story and I’m sticking to it

    I have a model 92 Rossi with a 16 inch barrel , in .357 magnum…. Under 125 yards it is very versatile , with proper loads it handles anything from small game , self defense against both two and four legged varmints . With heavier .357 loads it has no difficulty with bears or boars ..

    🇦🇺😎👍Hey mate I own a Remlin in the 1894 38 /357 mag ( bout 6ish years old now ) My opinion is it has a beautiful finish and fitment of wood etc but the trigger is about a 35 kg pull , yank or tap with a hammer. Loading the 38 special rds is a bit of a task sometimes as they seem to catch inside. . Apparently they sell a trigger kit and mag kit to solve the issues. Beautiful gun though. Would I sell it ? No ! I bet the Ruger made model would be a bit better though .. lol , I cheated , I put a 3x9x40 Leupold scope on mine. Great video
