Annie's face when Cackowski asks her if she's excited for Avengers is foreshadowing to her thoughts in the finale that she was scared to share with anyone but Jeff
Just watched it again for the first time since it originally aired on Yahoo Screen. I've gained a whole new appreciation for season 6. It's pretty remarkable how good it is despite the circumstances of the show having lost 3 original core cast members, gotten canceled and left network TV for some upstart streaming platform.
troy leaving basically ended the show and created a completely new one (but not a worse one), just like when michael left the office. in both cases the character was such an integral and fundamental part of the show's appeal. i know everyone likes to pick on season 4 but at least everyone was still there
@@vitorgfreire I think to a certain extent Troy leaving allowed the show to make Abed more mature thereby changing the structure of the show. It worked well
@@fazza2104 The then-upcoming film being referenced was Age of Ultron. The one Marvel made Whedon overload with plot threads, and then forced him to edit down pretty dramatically, resulting in it being both the choppiest and the worst Avengers film.
also the fact that the officer mentioned how the govt should be given the power to find potential hackers and eliminate them beforehand is similar to the plot of TWS.
@Reuben Salter You think it's better than Avengers 1, 3 or 4? I'm not saying it's sub-Thor 1 & 2, but it's easily the worst film with "Avengers" in the title.
I think the digs were at Whedon. The positive references and homages were towards Russos. They almost recreated the elevator scene. And just before the Whedon dig, the officer says about giving the government power to eliminate hackers before they turn into one, which is essentially Project Insight from Winter Soldier with "hackers" swapped for "terrorists".
@@advaitpetiwale9596 I agree. There are very direct digs at Whedon. For instance, Officer Cackowski says: "They really pushed Whedon creatively. How could that go wrong?" (I'm paraphrasing). You actually picked up on more references than me. However, there are also playful barbs thrown at the Russos. In the series finale, both Jeff and Annie agree that the Marvel movies are bad. Annie calls them "unremarkable".
@@Hoops_Fan yes.. "boring Marvel movies". "They're so not a big deal!" Those are playful jabs, indeed. But w.r.t. @@advaitpetiwale9596 The joke isn't about Whedon at all though, but about Hollywood practices. If you listen closely, they say: "I heard Marvel got really hands on this time, really pinned in Joss Whedon creatively, so, how could that go wrong ?" It's a jab, but directed at the producers who force a number of things on directors to try to make the movies artificially popular, not letting the creative people do their work freely, which usually results in movies of inferior quality. You could replace Whedon by almost any other director. If anything, the show shows sympathy for him here.

The "don't call us boys" line is hilarious, when you realize that they have a literal boy in the cyber security division.

I agree. Stylistically, its quite different. They left network TV. Episodes lasted 28 minutes or so. That factored into why its different as well.
