Difference between irwin and trent is that irwin could defend...and score free kicks...and penalties. Massively underrated, best wing back premier league has ever seen
That's more profit rather than initial value. Obviously, it's a good deal considering what he did, but he wasn't the best player for United (not ever, just United, so calm down). Plus, 12m at the time was a pretty hefty price. He definitely made up for it, but yeah. Cantona was far better for United and only cost 1m... That's insane. Even then, it was a really good deal. Same as Schmeichel and Irwin, incredible values for what they did.
Dennis Bergkamp for £7.5m had a very similar impact at Arsenal. Changed everything. Took us from a very defensive side, to one of the most exciting teams in the PL. I miss those days of United vs Arsenal back in the late 90’s and the 2000s Both incredible teams, played incredible football, and the games between the two were simply epic.
rooney cost around 27 million but considering what he done for club and amount of goals he contributed is my best signing but Eric for a million is incredible
Considering the fact shearer moved the same year for 3.6 (which was the record of the time. That makes Cantona around 30 million in todays market. I’d say that’s more than a bargain
Cr7 was bought for 16mil(not sure)sold for record fee back then won the Bollan dor what he did was immense but not going to knock King Eric of that pedestal both number 7s grt8
I watched scholes play all my childhood and I don’t know why but this is the first time hearing him speak. I just had a made up voice in my head from watching his mouth move on the pitch ( which we can’t hear through the tv )
4 titles in 5 years. Would have been 5 for 5 if it wasn't for the kung fu kick. Scored a bunch of goals. Provided as many assists. Could head, take free kicks, dribbles and tricks. Cantona was the Michael Jordan of the EPL in the 90s.
The best signing (not player) was Dwight Yorke. That partnership with Cole opened up their attack to be the most formidable in Europe, A treble came with that. I remember them making an inter Milan team with the likes of Ronaldo look ordinary, and beat a stellar Juventus side with minimal struggles.
@theinvisibleman. I watched that game, juventus were supposed to have Man U 5 down, don't tell me about football back in those days brother. It's the same way Barca beat Liverpool in the camp nou, they scored 3 goals, but Liverpool were in that game all the way through, it's just the blaugrana's goals were going in and Messi was clinical.
I'd say Peter Schmeichel was an even bigger bargain! 750k euros and he was the worlds best goalkeeper for a decade, maybe ever... Cantona was great yes, but he is not ever talked about as one of the best of his position, and he wasnt there as long as the great dane...
Cantona was a great player but what made him even more valuable than his ability was his aura, he gave the team confidence and class. They became serial winners with him. Even the kick and rage moments made him bigger than he already was.
Henry, Rooney, Aguero, Van Dijk, Drogba, Lampard, Irwin, De Bruyne, Silva, Salah, De Gea, Cech, Suarez almost got Liverpool the league, ... So many players
Ashley Cole, William Gallas + £5m post invincibles. Not only Arsenal’s greatest ever left back but Chelsea’s too. I don’t think anyone has done that for two top premier league clubs
Trent might not be irwin but hes still young his defending has got better but could erwin play in todays game dropping in midfield playing 60 yard balls
Now I’m born in 96 so I’m just at the age where I can remember watching the 99 fa cup final and the champions league final. But from what I can remember did United not sign cantona for a million quid and lee sharp or am I wrong ? Like if sharp was in the deal it’s not a cheap million quid is it ? Red Devils forever 🥳
Best signing in PL history is probably Haaland, £52m won golden boot, record breaking goals, and delivered his clubs first ever champions league in his debut season as part of a treble. Don't think you can get any better than that.
He didn't deliver, the team did. Remove Rodri, De Bruyne or Stones from that team and City still have 0 UCL-s. It's not only Haaland. Rodri and De Bruyne are more important for that team.
@@perakojot5628 He didn't deliver? Fairs man, only the 12 goals in the CL that season. Just being bitter because he's a City player, don't always have to hate, sometimes just appreciate instead
@@interestingasf444 Are u slow or something? Where's the hate? He can score 50 goals in UCL, if the team is not playing well, it's not gonna help. Haaland is pure finisher, he needs the team to perform well so he can score a lot. His big numbers are reflection of a good team performances. Trophies are team success. If there's a City player I like, it's Haaland. But he's not the most important one in the team. Rodri was definitely the best one in that UCL winning campaign but people tend to focus only on numbers.
Denis irwin. 500k. Bargain. people go on about trent but denis took penos, free kicks, rb playing on the left. Great defender and never let utd down

Jamie has a less competitive, less combative relationship with Scholesy than Gary. It’s much easier to watch.
Facts, it’s nothing but respect between these two
Probably respects scholesy as a player more 😂
They arent really mates like gary and Jamie so it will be more cordial.
@Cymru85 This for sure
Probably Gary’s fault tbh
Thought he was gonna give a couple of options, but editing was perfect. Best United signing ever will always be The King.
Alex Ferguson paid 500k for Schmeichel, called it the bargain of the century.
Edwin VdS was immense, winning leagues and multiple cups including the CL. We paid Fulham very little. Underrated value for money also
