Context:
In 1996, it was planned that the Hawthorn Hawks and Melbourne Demons were to be merged. Hawthorn was very successful but was in financial trouble. Melbourne was financially healthy, but had not won a premiership in 30 years up to that point. Their theme song was to be a combination of both the Hawks and Demons theme songs.
