@@adrianmars1206 well I appreciate that, I think being an artist is hard in this day and age because there isn’t much room for development or experimentation. We have tried various things and loved some, liked some, and found some aren’t for us. With over 100+ songs and nearly 14 years we are happily in a position to make this record which I think feels more like a culmination than anything else, mixing a lot of my favorite parts of the band from day 1 until now.

The fans were there first when no one cared so when other people around them start caring, the fans feel less special. And the fans don't like this feeling and this translates into hostility.
Well I think most of these bands dislike comes from them changing their sounds not becuase they got more famous cause for the most part these bands were pretty famous before the dislike
i never got that. Maybe it's just me, but if I'm SUPER into some tiny, underground band, then when they start blowing up, i'm happy for them. I'm happy they're getting notoriety and success. And i'm glad other people are finally discovering something i've known all along is good and that other people get to enjoy it too. i think maybe part of it is that metal has always been seen as "noise" and not really taken seriously by the music community at large. So it's like, metalheads actively reject popular mainstream music in reaction to it. and then when a metal band gets big and enters the mainstream, it kinds of messes with that dynamic and people don't know how to feel. that's a theory anyway. I dunno. All i know is that, personally, i prefer to be happy for bands i like. I want bands i like to succeed, so it makes me glad to see them doing so.
Nick! Thanks for highlighting All That Remains. I had fallen off with them, but you're right, it's Ollie's last piece of work. So much of my playing was and still is inspired by The Fall of Ideals. That album made me push myself harder on guitar. It motivated me to get the John Petrucci Rock Discipline DVD and really put in the work. Now I'm gonna go listen to that ATR album, thanks to you. 🤘
Honestly, I think it's kinda disrespectful to judge Architects for their new sound. They're not selling out like some of the other mentioned bands. They lost their main songwriter. So yeah, shit's gonna sound different. And while I personally don't like it as much either, I'm hella glad they found a way to keep going. When your main songwriter dies, chances are you're done for good. But Architects pulled through. That's what counts. It'll never be the same without Tom, but it doesn't have to be. That's life.
As someone who enjoys both metal and pop, I’ve never gotten that upset when bands lose a bit of their metal stylings (Bad Omens, Architects, and Bring Me are some of my favorite bands)
I share the Asking Alexandria sentiment and don't as much as look at the albums after the self-titled, but in the end you just shrug and listen to something you like. AA embraced their change, I didn't and that's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes, no reasons to hate it or bitch about it
That is what im saying as well, I dont enjoy their newer stuff either, but Im also not shit talking them. In the end, the things you buy (Tickets, albums, merch) you still get what you pay for, you arent paying for the future of the band, you are paying for the experience, the shirt, or the specific album, so I really dont understand why people get so spiteful of bands that change their sound
I am so glad so many people agree with me on AA, Danny started to fall off right before he left the band and I was worried Dennis wouldn't be a suitable replacement but I later found out his rise to fame came from doing covers of the OG AA, the good stuff, so when they went from hard rock back to skinny jeans and black tee's I felt soooo relieved. I was so happy until they kicked him out and brought Danny back, after hearing We Are Harlot broooooo I was scared.
100% agree with The Word Alive. The members are all super talented (or they were cuz they borderline all left) but maaan their last couple of records were incredibly bland and boring. Dark Matter and everything prior were incredible IMO
I’m so thankful that THIS was the episode I was able to catch this week. The costume to the INSANE donations made this just a great stream. Always thanks to the mods!
I think Asking Alexandria wouldn’t be on this list if they had kept the sound of the self-titled album, which wasn’t metalcore, but had a lot of heavy moments and some experimental parts too. Unfortunately, they had to go full butt rock after that. EDIT: And now Ben Bruce is gone. There's really no hope for them now.
I love when bands try new sounds. Then integrate what works from their experiments into something even better. The issue with Architects for me is how weak the lyrics are, I find them distractingly poor. As an aside; Josh is just left standing there, massively under-utilised too. On the subject of tattoos I knew someone who got a full back Lost Prophets tattoo 😬
while I definitely do agree that Architects' new stuff is weaker overall, I still love their new stuff, cause the weakest stuff by one of the best bands is still 500x better than the best stuff by a lot of worse bands
my only argument of Josh in Architects being underutilized is that he is not the frontman. i understand using him a little in a few songs, but he has his own band to sing in. not every band need dual-vocalists.
lol really? Out of all the things you can legitimately criticize about this band, for example: no existing melodies (I mean what's even the point of using guitars when they don't produce any melodies anymore?) no energetic or creative rhytms, only 0-0-0-0-0 monotonic djent riffs with excessive double bass drumming (wow so original and creative) and a very annoying raspy vocals (the singer can not do low growling screams nor can he sing in a clear high voice either)... but out of all these things you chose to criticize the fucking lyrics? On a fucking Metalcore band? Like who even gives a fuck about the lyrics in fucking Metalcore dude! 😂🤣 yeah sometimes good lyrics can be nice touch, but I mean you don't even understand half part of the lyrics anyway, unless you're litearlly googling it 😅
Its decent but its just so much weaker than everything after (except httk). Nightmare and the stage are prog masterpieces city of evil is like a pop album om comparison. Whole other league imo
Man I'm so glad I'm not a part of the metal community. Shit's more toxic than a GTA Online lobby. I just like the music that I like and I like Nik Nocturnal. That's about the extent of my involvment and interest in metal. I honestly don't even listen to metal anymore. Just doesn't fit my vibes anymore. However, I respect the fuck out of it and I like to stay somewhat current with it and that's where Nik comes in. Out here providing news and funny content. It's great. Edit: can't fucking wait for Lorna Shore to drop the rest of Pain Remains, though. That is the next evolution of metal and it very well might drag me back in.
Bad Omens (imo) is a perfect example of a band who can change their sound and still manage to make it incredible. “The Death Of Peace Of Mind” is such a well-crafted masterpiece of an album for it being something totally different from their original work. I wish BMTH would have evolved the way BO did and it’s a huge shame with the amount of potential they had. I’m highly surprised they weren’t on the list honestly.
@@thursdayfivenine3106 yeah if they just stuck with Amo sound throughout Covid times (granted I kinda dig Amo in a guilty pleasure kind of way personally), then easy pick for a band that sucks now, but almost everything they’ve dropped since Amo is honestly fire even though they are getting to super mainstream status
I probably still need to listen to it at least one more time, but I really don't understand this sentiment with the Bad Omens album at all. I only thought the singles were very interesting, while the rest of it was just not that memorable.
I'm gonna have to agree with Crucifixed. Even though bad omens is not my favorite, their music evolution is phenomenal and if BMTH would have done it more like Omens I think it would have been even better...
A7X's "City of Evil" is an S-Tier album that none of their albums have come even close to touching. Such a fantastic journey of an album from top to bottom. Don't get time wrong, they have a lot of great albums, and the self-titled was a perfect follow-up... But still nothing comes close.
I love it.... at 2:40 someone asks in the chat comments that are on screen "Is Spiritbox great? just started listening should I continue?" How about you think for your gotdamn self and listen to what YOU like. Who gives a f*ck what everyone else says. These videos are so annoying to me.
ALL THAT REMAINS The Fall of Ideals and This Darkened Heart are 2 of the best metalcore albums ever. They've had several lineup changes and even a death so somewhere they allowed a small amount of success go to their heads and they completely changed their sound and started making ballads.
Two Weeks was the start of the end. That album (Overcome) had horrendous mixing and sounded terrible, but the actual songwriting wasn’t too far off from TFOI. But then Two Weeks - a good song - got extremely popular and the band completely changed their sound. And maybe Phil fucked up his throat because his vocals are so overproduced since Overcome.
i’ve never understood why people think telling other people to not like certain music is okay. nik’s opinions in this video are very good, these big bands aren’t gonna give a shit if a few people decide to not like their new shit. don’t tell people what they can or can’t like. good video nik!
For me the main thing is not really the bands wanting to change their style on future albums, but not playing much of their old stuff live or straight up refusing to play it and basically shitting on that style of music even though that’s what got them to where they are now. Even if they can’t do the harsh vocals as well anymore they could get some crowd participation or something to help out
Definitely Atreyu for me. The Curse is really good and Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses is something special, every song is amazing. Lip Gloss and Black is one of my favorite songs ever. But after that I like them less and less
8:53 The Stage is a phenomenal album, an otherworldly experience where every track serves its purpose to guide you through an emotional rollercoster with heavy passages, beautiful melodies, jazzy and bluesy moments, amazing drumming patterns and the best guitar soloing you'll ever hear in metal in this decades. The problem is that the average core kid A7X fan is too close minded to appreciate something more mature and complex like The Stage.
I was literally thinking the exact same thing - they've always been pretty damn consistent. Although one thing that always bothers me about their music is Mike's screams. His cleans and growls are amazing, but I just can't stand his screams - they sound like Mickey Mouse. Apart from that, TDWP goes hard.
@@L0zzasooo true. TDWP is a good band and I really enjoy some of their songs. But damn, I do think their screams are probably the worst among all of the somewhat popular metalcore bands. First time I heard them, it really hurt my ears. However later I did dig them and started enjoying the band much more, but the screams are the thing to these days that I can’t say I like.
Man, All That Remains. The solo on Everything Is Wrong almost FEELS like Oli somehow knew it was one of the last that he would record. There's just this longing there, that hurt SO bad (in a great way) to listen to when he passed. Just full of life, and Nik's right, it's some of their heaviest work. Can't wait to hear some new material from them.
Rings of Saturn was so huge in the Bay Area. One time we went and saw Job For A Cowboy in SF and they brought on ROS singer and the whole crowd lost our shit it was an incredible surprise.
I do not believe people should throw a fit when their favorite band changes their style. Music evolves. Bands evole. At the same time though, bands should not expect their fans to follow them no matter what. If you change your product and people don't like it anymore, then you have to accept that as well. It's a two way street.
I completely agree. A band can and should do what they think is the best for them and if this means that they want to try something different or change things, I welcome them to try. Maybe I like it, perhaps for different reasons than before, or maybe I don't but it doesn't matter as it isn't MY band. I'm only a listener, able to tune out if they go in a direction I'm not interesting in following them. Sure, I feel a bit bad when this happens, a bit disappointed but I would thank them for the music they have given me and move on. Our paths will separate... The band owns me nothing in their future releases and I own them nothing for their future releases. You can step away from a band without being entitled about it.
I have a mixed opinion about bands that drastically change their style. Like, yeah, its nice to see then trying new things, it's important for them to grow as musicians and stuff. But on the other hand, I can totally understand the hate they recieve. Like, sometimes their new music isn't even bad, but it's like they threw away everything that make them "them" and it's now a totally different band. It's like you're reading an amazing thriller/mystery book, and in the next volumes they turn the story into a romcom or something.
You know what makes me happy to see people not list? BlessTheFall. Then, the devil wears prada, OG bmth, OG asking alexandria, and a few others, all were my gateway bands when i was in middleschool. I know some of these ARE on the list tho and i somewhat agree with some just because the new sound of some of these bands just isnt my taste. Didnt really like BTF with Craig tho, there were some bangers and im sure his vocals have improved but duing his time with BTF before Baeu, his vocals needed some work imo. Also Of Mice & Men. Everything with Austin in the band was so good. Dont get me wrong, Aaron is still killing it but Austins vocals were iconic, even in Attack Attack. Also, with Attack Attack, Caleb when he was on vocals. Still killing in in beartooth too. Feeling so nostalgic just thinking of these bands and artist.
It's quite interesting to me how similar opinions are on A7X and PWD despite these two bands and their paths still being very different from each other. Both bands have been pretty much set on achieving the same goal of becoming massive headliners. And the Rock & Metal industry desperately needs bands like them to step up and fill the void that older bands are leaving behind sooner or later. People can bash the new stuff from Avenged and Parkway all they want but they are never going back to either WTF nor Horizons and that is good. It would just feel fake at this point. In the end the artists have to make music they themselves are more than happy with because otherwise they are just going to burn thremselves out and end up quitting. Same with Architects. People would be like "oh that's good they sucked now anyway" without realizing that the dreams and jobs of so many people involved inside and outside the band would be crushed. Who in their right mind wants someone else to be this miserable just because they don't like the music anymore? Ridiculous. Not to mention that Darker Still has quite some really amazing music on it. The title track is possibly the best piece of music they have ever written. Can throw Chronos off Reverence into the conversation too. Honestly though, it's funny to laugh at people bashing them while these bands play massive festivals. PWD even being a Wacken headliner. That is worth A LOT more than the opinion of some average metalcore fans stuck in 2009 unwilling to accept change.
@@snacker66 wow one song out of 11. Or let's say 10 due to strangers being an interlude. Just because one song actually sucks doesn't bring down the quality of the entire album. Plus, if they wanted to make that song then it's their decision.
As someone who’s never listened to Parkway before Darker Things all I can say is if Winston learned how to fucking sing most of that album would be tolerable.
I'm with you there dude. The people shitting on PWD's newer stuff clearly haven't grown with the band. They also seem to be bigger now than they've ever been, so clearly their new music has been well received overall.
This lmaoo, even though modern bands like Bad Omens got me into metalcore, I eventually fell back to OG metalcore (2003-2009 for me) and just couldn't compare how insanely better the guitar work and lyrical structures were in the OGs. Have an album of stuff from Shadows of Security, Horizons, The Fall of Ideals, As Day Light Dies, Poison, The end of heartache, An Ocean between Us and Ascendency that I keep listening daily. That playlist is peak music for me.
I got an A7X deathbat tattoo way back when Waking the Fallen came out. Sounding the Seventh Trumpet was also a good album. Didn’t like City of Evil or anything after. But I can agree with some of these. Atreyu will never be the same without Alex on vocals. Used to like Bleeding Through a lot but the new songs aren’t doing it for me. I don’t think the new Parkway Drive is terrible and you can still her some of that nostalgia in the music but I just can’t get into it. I appreciate Winston trying the singy screamy stuff and love they are doing what THEY want and trying something different. Just doesn’t have the same excitement to me as the older music. Throwdown… went from hardcore to sounding like a Pantera cover band. And I know members of that band personally. Still friends with a couple of them.
The Arena Rock sound is what made me lose hardcore interest in the Metal scene. You either die having 3 albums, or you live long enough to hear yourself play butt-rock.
@@kennethgdula712 nothing hit harder than the Escape the Fate commemt comment. Mfs were my favorite band in High School. They were like a heavier version of The Used. When Monte left, I was actually pretty excited cuz Kevin Thrasher was from LoveHateHero, and I loved them almost as much as ETF. But it was just nothing... like nothing. It's just basic rock music.
I think that AA's latest album is dope for what it is. Their self titled album is objectively really really good tho. And yeah, FDTD is fucking good haha (my AOAT)
Ah from death to destiny by asking, now i know, never listened to that album cause i mostly listen to underground metalcore so yeah, but I gotta do that when i have time, im excited now 😁🤘🔥❤️
As a former musician myself i am of the opinion that it's completely fine to switch up on things once in a while in a sense of alternating the core sound with something new/different. But when bands do a total make over like going from melodic death to idk, irish folk music then it's a insult which could avoided by creating a side project ting un-attached from to their main band. Allthough it's a grey zone too because i gotta say what Ice Nine Kills did deserves mad respect. Dragging for 15 what not years then finding their theme/image,. Allthough their sound didnt differ dramatically in a way like my example i mentioned
Underoath. They used to be my fav band of all time growing up. I remember being in middle school, seeing writing on the walls when mtv would actually play music videos. I was still in high school when they broke up back then. I really like all the albums until they broke up. They came back and the new stuff is just not it for me.
One of my favorite bands growing up was trust company. Then they stopped making music for a really long time, got back together, and made like a love song album that was nothing like their old stuff
i'm a huge asking alexandria fan but honestly i was very disappointed they changed but i still love them and understand you can't stay the same forever and i still like the newer stuff but the old stuff is a 100% gold period
I feel the same about All That Remains for one I think Phil Labonte is a really underrated vocalist his screams are some of the best in all of Metalcore in my opinion and sound just as good live as they do on the album, and yeah sure they go back and forth between hard rock and Metalcore on there newest albums but they are still super heavy when they choose to be. Their songs on their new albums still hit and are good dating all the way back to For We Are Many when they started experimenting and including more hard rock influences into some of their sound. I agree The Fall Of Ideals and Overcome are my top two favorites albums but them but they still put out good songs and are one of my favorites bands to this day
PWD. you could tell where things were headed with Ire, even though bottom feeder is still a guilty pleasure of mine. But it was probably the last release they had which I could listen to and still feel like it was PWD.. and at the same time it started to get a bit more pickup truck metal sounding. They have pretty much shifted to the radio friendly metal at this point, and well... good for them I guess.
It makes me sad, because I really loved Parkway. I used to blast Horizons and Deep Blue all the time. Those albums were sick. I took a break from listening to them after IRE and then I revisited those 2 albums last year and I thought to myself, holy fuck this is awesome shit lol. I can't listen to anything past Atlas. I wish they kept their sound.
Idk man, I kinda always thought they were basically just always pickup truck metal even back when when they were considered good. Though that could just be because of Winston's looks and name and the first lyrics I've heard from them being from Jared Dines' old metal vocalist impressions video.
Going back to the Hail to the King album by A7X, I hated it it originally. I wasn't even trying to cope and say it's good when it's not. But going back to it, there are more tracks I love than I do hate. It's funny, even M Shadows admitted he was tired of the title track when they were about to play it live a few years ago
Self-titled album is the best comeback from Danny, ngl. But two albums after that they just went downhill. They just don't care what people say about them and just do whatever they want but this resulted to a downfall of AA as a whole. They targeted new audiences anw but a lot of their older fans didn't care about AA anymore.
Ive been listening to The Cursed since it first came out back in 2004, and I still fuck with it as hard now as I did back then. Youre right, there is a TON of nostalgia tied to that album...especially The Remembrance Ballad
Atreyu would have been my answer tbh. I loved The Curse. Listened to it all the time. I went to Taste of Chaos to see them. They sucked live and the singer was pissed that we were all tired from moshing to As I Lay Dying right before them. Atreyu left the stage early and didn't even finish their set. It also didn't help that they were primarily playing new songs off the 3rd album before it was released so no one knew the songs. Luckily the later bands all killed it (Story of the Year, Thrice and Deftones). This was the show that made Deftones my favorite band. Core life memory.
8:30 yoooooo I didn't know All That Remains brought back the heavy shit, I was introduced to them back in 9th grade with Weak Willed, shit changed my life, I went down the Metalcore rabbit hole after that, but then they started putting out softer stuff so I hadn't checked back in a couple years. Gota hear this song now
totally agree with bands getting bigger... back in 2005/2006 i saw bring me the horizon play in bars/pubs and clubs soo many times to 50-100 people, (once olly's fringe extensions fell out lol), and now they headline arenas and are played on UK mainstream radio .... i never disliked them cause of this.. i just wasnt into the musical direction they took and got into other bands.... it happens as life goes on and you get older. ATREYU are GOATS
We definitely become more attached to bands than we should. Especially when younger. We act hella entitled. Just like how Nik says he likes holy Hell, so did I, and I also did not like BMTH before TIAHBMISITIAHLKIAS, and Sempiternal. Sempiternal to this day is my favorite album. And I fucking hated That's The Spirit when it first released, and was cringing at Amo. Then I listened to Amo, and even though it's so damn different than Sempiternal, it's very close to beating it for me at the same time.
Personally my thing with bands changing their sound is I think its fine, artists are allowed to grow and try new things as long as they keep what made them unique in the first place. It’s hard to explain but you can listen to newer songs by a band and be like “this sounds different but it still feels like THEIR song” yaknow
Nothing wrong with it. The bands know the risk when they change up they do it becuase thats what they want to play or they think they could gather more fans. Its completely fine to not like a bands new stuff. Im not understanding where not liking something is considered toxic. As long as your not threatening anyone or anything crazy theres nothing wrong with voicing your criticism and opinions.
A7X was my fav band. Still one of... but i havnt bought an album since nightmare. The songs are still great, I just preferred the previous sound. Not my call, and I still listen to em and go to their shows!!
@@real30yearoldboomerhours53 I have recently started playing The Stage on the jukebox at the bar, it is a banger. I'll have to check out the rest of the album now.
Bullet for my valentine for me. A few songs after the fever album are in my normal listens, but instead of every song on an album I only enjoy maybe a song from all of their newer stuff.
I actually liked a lot of the new AA stuff that’s being put out, Danny kills the vocals every single time. Didn’t like self titled a ton, but it has some good tracks but I love LAHOF
I wish some of these bands just stopped while they were ahead. I hate having to explain to people I like X band… but only their old stuff.. 🥲 another point Asking Alexandria being the biggest let down.
Bullet For My Valentine I love their first 3 albums. Then it just gradually went downhill from there for me except Venom which I think was a really solid album. I know their latest album is heavier again, but to me it just sounds like a they’re trying too hard to be heavy like they used to.
Temper temper made me cringe so hard. Lyrically, Matt was on the level of Ivan moody. There newest is definitely refreshing compared to there previous albums

When your main songwriter dies, chances are you're done for good. But Architects pulled through. That's what counts. It'll never be the same without Tom, but it doesn't have to be. That's life.
Architects are one of the most overrated bands anyway, they’re so generic
@@SillyOlive maybe in metalcore but there are way too many overrated bands in other sub-genres of metal
I love holy hell, but after that everything = shit for me
@@LeMichaelJordansPoleRiders architects may as well be any metalcore band, there’s nothing special about them.
@@SillyOlive okay? So i'm curious which metalcore band is "unique" or "special" for you?
As someone who enjoys both metal and pop, I’ve never gotten that upset when bands lose a bit of their metal stylings (Bad Omens, Architects, and Bring Me are some of my favorite bands)
Out of curiosity what other metal subgenres do you like?
BMTH & Bad Omens got me into metalcore via pop-rock and I hate them now 😔
FR JUST LIKE ERRA OR THORNHILL. THIS IS METAL OR FCKING POP? GET SOME DRUMS/GUITAR WHILE SINGING!! it should be a whole new genre not metalcore...
Who tf would even think Panic at the disco was Metalcore? LMAO
They specifically separated "metalcore" and "in general" in that comment.
He didn’t lol he mentioned metalcore bands than said non metal
i got a tdwp tattoo and i’m so happy i get to see them progress as time goes on. color decay is absolutely beautiful
Dark Matter and everything prior were incredible IMO
as a person in brazil when i find a band that i really like i hope they get huge quick for a slim hope of seeing them live
RIP Vitalism 😢
@@nogokola Really wish they hadn't split.

Nik trying to make serious points about criticising bands changing their styles based on what they like playing.
Also Nik: dressed like a crab.
Waking the fallen is literally the album that got me not just into metalcore but metal with screaming in general.
“Dark void” is a good song change my mind. I don’t mind butt rock sometimes if it’s good
I love when bands try new sounds. Then integrate what works from their experiments into something even better. The issue with Architects for me is how weak the lyrics are, I find them distractingly poor.
As an aside; Josh is just left standing there, massively under-utilised too.
On the subject of tattoos I knew someone who got a full back Lost Prophets tattoo 😬
my whole body recoiled when i got to the back tattoo part, yiiiikes
while I definitely do agree that Architects' new stuff is weaker overall, I still love their new stuff, cause the weakest stuff by one of the best bands is still 500x better than the best stuff by a lot of worse bands
my only argument of Josh in Architects being underutilized is that he is not the frontman. i understand using him a little in a few songs, but he has his own band to sing in. not every band need dual-vocalists.
@@ManG1aze He means utilizing him as guitarist. Which I agree they should. Not everyithing is about the vocalist.
yeah sometimes good lyrics can be nice touch, but I mean you don't even understand half part of the lyrics anyway, unless you're litearlly googling it 😅
The Stage is one of my favourite albums ever, but hail to the king wasn’t my favourite. And agree on you about walking the fallen
Hail to the king was like a love letter to metallica lol I still liked it though it is probably on the bottom of there album list.
Are we just gonna forget city of evil?
Its decent but its just so much weaker than everything after (except httk). Nightmare and the stage are prog masterpieces city of evil is like a pop album om comparison. Whole other league imo
@@thatdesertguy9113 it’s a good album. It’s in my top 20 all time but not top 5 like The Stage, Nighmare and walking the fallen
Well their POST-HUMAN album is a MASTERPIECE!!
@@thursdayfivenine3106 yeah if they just stuck with Amo sound throughout Covid times (granted I kinda dig Amo in a guilty pleasure kind of way personally), then easy pick for a band that sucks now, but almost everything they’ve dropped since Amo is honestly fire even though they are getting to super mainstream status
agree! Bad Omens is great at changing their sound. The Death Of Peace Of Mind is a masterpiece for sure.
Waking the fallen is better
All that remains is why I am into metalcore and started sing. Because of the darkest heart and the fall of ideals
Listen to I PREVAIL
I love it.... at 2:40 someone asks in the chat comments that are on screen "Is Spiritbox great? just started listening should I continue?" How about you think for your gotdamn self and listen to what YOU like. Who gives a f*ck what everyone else says. These videos are so annoying to me.
ALL THAT REMAINS
The Fall of Ideals and This Darkened Heart are 2 of the best metalcore albums ever. They've had several lineup changes and even a death so somewhere they allowed a small amount of success go to their heads and they completely changed their sound and started making ballads.
Yeah when they started being on the radio i knew it was over
Two Weeks was the start of the end.
Their latest stuff has been great. Underrated is a fantastic song.
Can't agree more on _From Death to Destiny_ ! I used to play that on loop constantly and I _still_ would in 2022. It is fantastic!
Plus Phil from ATR is probably the sweetest man alive. Straight up nice dude. I love their work
8:53 The Stage is a phenomenal album, an otherworldly experience where every track serves its purpose to guide you through an emotional rollercoster with heavy passages, beautiful melodies, jazzy and bluesy moments, amazing drumming patterns and the best guitar soloing you'll ever hear in metal in this decades. The problem is that the average core kid A7X fan is too close minded to appreciate something more mature and complex like The Stage.
I love A7X as is, but my god The Stage is something else. Its just as you said. It's not an album, it's an experience. It's absolutely stunning.
The stage is amazing
Really enjoyed watching the crustacean claw wave around as he made points. 10/10 should be a permanent thing now
I'm so glad I don't ever have to worry about TDWP putting out bad music 😩
The claw coming up gesturing is killing me xD

U should do, Metalcore bands that didn’t suck 20 years(or so) ago and still don’t suck till today.
let me start with one,
The Devil Wears Prada
- Killswitch Engage.

Victim of the New Disease didn’t get the credit it deserves cause it leans to the right side of things and Phil isn’t afraid to speak his mind
God damn it when you zoomed on the claw hand affirming the chat, that one got me
I have a mixed opinion about bands that drastically change their style.
*cough* Whitechaple *cough*

Okay but have you listened to If a God Can Bleed? That's quite possibly the worst thing PWD has ever recorded.
Glad to hear some darker still appreciation
All the OG Metalcore holds up for me personally, I made a Playlist of Metalcore from 1997-2007 that I listen to daily.

Throwdown is still around? My back hurts thinking that far back

A7X's The Stage is so good! It's my second fav of theirs just after City
Underoath has been garbage since dallas taylor left the band.

Super valid analogies regarding the tattoos, nik. Genuinely mean that.
I don’t like AA’s House On Fire but imo their newest album is awesome. Not the best album in bands history but it’s still really good, just different
Pickup truck metal is the best way to describe them. Is Bogan Metal a term yet? Parkway’s earlier albums were so damn good though
“If A God Can Bleed” gave me PTSD.
Tbf I love all of asking Alexandrias albums lol. Primarily their self titled one. One day I hope the scene will realise how good that album is.

For real, I'm so sad where parkway drives' sound ended up. Horizons was fire.
Take a shot everytime nick has to bleep himself
Atreyu would have been my answer tbh.
I loved The Curse. Listened to it all the time. I went to Taste of Chaos to see them. They sucked live and the singer was pissed that we were all tired from moshing to As I Lay Dying right before them. Atreyu left the stage early and didn't even finish their set. It also didn't help that they were primarily playing new songs off the 3rd album before it was released so no one knew the songs.
Luckily the later bands all killed it (Story of the Year, Thrice and Deftones). This was the show that made Deftones my favorite band. Core life memory.
I'm glad other people are looking at what from death to destiny tried to do. it was a really solid album
I keep getting distracted by the crab claw when Nick's trying to make points.
Yeah Crown The Empire is probably a perfect example. Their first two albums were literally perfect, and their first EP was too.
You know who will NEVER be on this list? Killswitch Engage and Trivium. They've both just consistently put out banger albums.
