In short, by using ebgp-multihop command, we are telling the router that a particular ebgp MAY BE x hops away so it's kind of obvious for router to think, oh if this neighbor could be x hops away, it might or might not be directly connected, so let's disable that connected check. So no need to explicitly configure it along with that ebgp-multihop command.
