Best tutorial I've ever seen. Teaching with fun is the most effective way to make someone print the information in it's brain. Good job, i'll never forget that tip.
i almost died laughting at the begining, this is what i was doing yesterday, took me like 3 hours and i kept wondering-there must be a better way :D best tutorials ever
WTHF, AFTER 2 DAYS, I SEE THIS THUMBNAIL AND I THINK SAME WITH THE OTHER TH-camR VIDEO TUTTORIAL, BUT THIS IS MIND BLOWINGGGGG, THANKS FOR SAVING MY LIFE TEAM MOTION DESIGN SCHOLLL.... *BIG HUGGGG
I think it's so the cc bend effect position moves along with the tree as it bends, otherwise the tree exits the area covered by the effect and becomes invisible.
What happens if you wanted to make it a Christmas tree and parent a star or something to the top of it? Im doing an animation with a fisherman holding the fishing rod and I'm using the cc bend it effect of the fishing line. for some reason the hook and sinker (which are separate objects but are parented to the line) don't move with the bend it effect applied. Would it just be better to pre-comp the fishing line with the sinker and hook then apply the bend it effect? Thanks.
hallo, can you help me sir, how to parent an object "A" to another object "B" with bend it effect applied on the "B" object, it's posible "A" object to follow the bend it effect that applied on the "B" object? thank you alot
I don't get the "toComp" part, when I do that on mine the object disappears. It would be good if this was slower with a person explaining what's going on.
Whenever I add the toComp(value) expression, my layer disappear (it is still in the timeline, I just can't see it). Now, I am using a photoshop layer. I have an image of a leaf I made using a Photoshop brush that I want to bed. Does this only work when applied to shape layers or layers made within After Effects? I even tried Pre-comping my layer, and that didn't help either.
Good video but was super confusing for me at 52 second mark when you starting coding, I cant even figure out how to get that box to open to type the code.
i tried dozen of times and id never been able to make it work that toComp expression, neither shape layers nor precomps, theres something missing here?
Probably don't need it anymore, but make sure your have 'continuously rasterize' turned on for all your illustartor layers. It's that little star icon to the right of your layer name. (If you can't see it, press 'toggle switches / modes', the button below your layers)
@@soirema I'm not sure if I really understood but what I did that helped me there was to move the anchor point to be at the base of the tree. Don't know if that will help you or not.
how can you animate the position property on a layer that has this effect applied?, when I do so even with a null the image crops because the start and end position of the effect wont move. Thanks for amazing content :)
Try pre-composing the layer with the effect. Go into the composition and change the size, so that your element roughly fits inside. Then, animate the position of your new precomp 🙂
He take the expression and put in Start and End points of the Bend It ( ele pegou aquela expressão [ toComp(value) ] e pôs no Start e no End do efeito Bend It da layer

HAAHHAHA I can't agree more. These tutorials always have me cracking up. They really relate to the inner turmoil of the animator.
Not sure which I love more: your tutorials, your music selections or your sense of humor. So much HURRAY!
The beginning - this process is so very familiar xD Thank you for the tip!

Your tutorials are out of this world.
you need to make sure your layers are shapes not vector art to be able to use CC bend it without cropping your image.
you're so much more helpful than any tutorial
Or a comp (or Illustrator layer) with continuously rasterize activated
thank you very much
i've been looking for a solution for over an hour now!!! you don't know how much of help that was, thank you @@leomass
good to learn new things and basic tools of after effects too, bendio works good too but every designer must know the basics also
Excellent, The best tutorial ever.
omg this expression just saved me even more time than Bend it already did!! Thanks
Just after I've been pinning a whole forest of trees :-( Bookmarked this for the next animation :-)
that toComp expression is the Game(Changer) for this effect! Thanks MDS
Saved 1 billion lives
Great and fun video! I loved all the people spying the motion designer working! Well done!
useful, straight to the point, fun. OK this is PERFECT! thanks for sharing
Does that effect work on a PSD file? 'cause in my case the images is still being cropped.
Pre-compose the layer (the second option with move all attributes to the new composition) and then put the effect on the new composition layer.
Maybe you can also try to use "Grow Bounds" ;)~
Thumbnail looks so nice and clean i had to click 😂
Thank you! But what is 'toComp(value)' actually doing?
I think it's so the cc bend effect position moves along with the tree as it bends, otherwise the tree exits the area covered by the effect and becomes invisible.

Thank you so much, these tips lifesaver for me.

after applying toComp(value) you might need to readjust Start and End targets. Cause the might have been moved by the expression
I like it but I'm having issues with it. Comp(value) is not working for some reason.
Love you guys!

you guys are the beeeeeeeessssssstttttttt
I love your videos, go on!
What exactly is "toComp(value)"? It's not working... Couldn't find a solid explanation on the web.
hi for me is you can move the object anywhere in the composition without re arranging the start and end of the bend it
me too
i tried dozen of times and id never been able to make it work that toComp expression, neither shape layers nor precomps, theres something missing here?
press alt and click the clock
Thank you a lot guys.
Even after adding toComp(value) im getting cut in my image
Try adding an adjustment layer, then apply bend it onto the layer. It works for me
@@mrd1512 thank you!
@@mrd1512 can you please explain?
@@mrd1512 How that works? i tried adding the effect to both the original layer and adjustment layer and still it cuts the layer, im going nuts
@@facupov Try putting the object you want to bend in its own comp, it worked for me. Good luck!
Great tut! I give it tree thumbs up!
hi,
I followed all the steps in the tutorial and even with precomp etc. But the image I try to bend still cuts off. How can I fix this?
same to me!
Have you resolved? How was your solution?

Same, nothing works this or the Grow Bounds effect
Holy moly this music :)))
Fantastic video!!
Really fun tutorial!!thanks!
I love this tutorials!
Love this! But I am having trouble at the 1:20 mark, "add animation parameter rotation." Am I missing a short cut or is this just a standard rotation?
Never mind, I got it. Thank you!

@@soirema I'm not sure if I really understood but what I did that helped me there was to move the anchor point to be at the base of the tree. Don't know if that will help you or not.
click on layer and press "R" to appear rotation parameter. ok?
only works for vectors
You are the best !!!!
Thanks !!!!
Thanks! toComp saved me)
loved it!!
Tip: It doesn't work on illustrator layers. You need to convert it to shape layer for this to work.
toComp didnt work for me. still getting cut off
extremely great!
great stuff.tx
