@Violett Fem I disagree. Many, many people who are gay are strongly attracted to God and the church. Many of our young people who grow up with a love of God and the church are not deciding to be homosexual in "total rebellion" to God. In many cases ( like it was for me) it is unwelcome and unwanted! Could it be that God is allowing more gay people because the "be fruitful and multiply" of human beings is out of control and liable to destroy the biosphere?
@@DIBBY40 being attracted to God is a lot different than following God. Are you a fan of Jesus or a follower of Jesus? I sometimes ask myself that question because I don't do everything I should but I do know what is wrong no matter how you feel. I'm a bit perplexed at all the "false teacher" accusations in the comments; I thought the video was spot-on. As sinners, we're all abominations, but a gay person is no more of an abomination than a heterosexual person. The Leviticus verse is clearly referring to the act, not setting apart gay people as being even more abominable. Great video Dr. McDowell!

Great response, but missing one really big and essential biblical truth: There is no such thing as a homosexual person, or a heterosexual person. We are all merely humans, male and female, created in the image of God (Gen 1:26-27), with just one plan: "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh" (Gen 2:24). Jesus quotes this passage to the Jewish leaders in Matthew 19:4-5. And while scholars so often point to the passage Sean refers to from old testament, two more important condemnations of homosexual behavior are found in the new testament, in Romans 1: 26-27, where this behavior is clearly spelled out, and in 1 Corinthians 6:9, where the behavior of both the initiator and the recipient (or the dominant and the submissive, or stated more graphically, the one who penetrates and the one who is penetrated) in homosexual acts are condemned. Publishes works such as Matthew Rueger's "Sexual Morality in a Christless World" reveal the common practice of male homosexuality in the Roman cities Paul lived in, so he was well aware of this type of behavior. BTW, Paul goes on in chapter 6 to condemn all sexual behavior outside of heterosexual marriage.

Bible Verses About Homosexuality Genesis 19:1-11 That evening the two angels came to the entrance of the city of Sodom. Lot was sitting there, and when he saw them, he stood up to meet them. Then he welcomed them and bowed with his face to the ground. "My lords," he said, "come to my home to wash your feet, and be my guests for the night. You may then get up early in the morning and be on your way again." "Oh no," they replied. "We'll just spend the night out here in the city square." But Lot insisted, so at last they went home with him. Lot prepared a feast for them, complete with fresh bread made without yeast, and they ate. But before they retired for the night, all the men of Sodom, young and old, came from all over the city and surrounded the house. They shouted to Lot, "Where are the men who came to spend the night with you? Bring them out to us so we can have sex with them!" So Lot stepped outside to talk to them, shutting the door behind him. "Please, my brothers," he begged, "don't do such a wicked thing. Look, I have two virgin daughters. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do with them as you wish. But please, leave these men alone, for they are my guests and are under my protection." "Stand back!" they shouted. "This fellow came to town as an outsider, and now he's acting like our judge! We'll treat you far worse than those other men!" And they lunged toward Lot to break down the door. But the two angels reached out, pulled Lot into the house, and bolted the door. Then they blinded all the men, young and old, who were at the door of the house, so they gave up trying to get inside. Leviticus 18:22 "Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin." (NLT) Leviticus 20:13 "If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense." (NLT) Judges 19:16-24 That evening an old man came home from his work in the fields. He was from the hill country of Ephraim, but he was living in Gibeah, where the people were from the tribe of Benjamin. When he saw the travelers sitting in the town square, he asked them where they were from and where they were going. "We have been in Bethlehem in Judah," the man replied. "We are on our way to a remote area in the hill country of Ephraim, which is my home. I traveled to Bethlehem, and now I'm returning home. But no one has taken us in for the night, even though we have everything we need. We have straw and feed for our donkeys and plenty of bread and wine for ourselves." "You are welcome to stay with me," the old man said. "I will give you anything you might need. But whatever you do, don't spend the night in the square." So he took them home with him and fed the donkeys. After they washed their feet, they ate and drank together. While they were enjoying themselves, a crowd of troublemakers from the town surrounded the house. They began beating at the door and shouting to the old man, "Bring out the man who is staying with you so we can have sex with him." The old man stepped outside to talk to them. "No, my brothers, don't do such an evil thing. For this man is a guest in my house, and such a thing would be shameful. Here, take my virgin daughter and this man's concubine. I will bring them out to you, and you can abuse them and do whatever you like. But don't do such a shameful thing to this man." 1 Kings 14:24 And there were also male cult prostitutes in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations that the LORD drove out before the people of Israel. 1 Kings 15:12 He put away the male cult prostitutes out of the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. 2 Kings 23:7 He also tore down the living quarters of the male and female shrine prostitutes that were inside the Temple of the LORD, where the women wove coverings for the Asherah pole. Romans 1:18-32 But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness.... Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn't worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles. So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other's bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved. Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. They know God's justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Don't you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people- none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Timothy 1:8-10 Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine .... Jude 7 And don't forget Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns, which were filled with immorality and every kind of sexual perversion. Those cities were destroyed by fire and serve as a warning of the eternal fire of God's judgment. If you classify yourself as a homosexual or Gay then you are lost!! When you repent you leave the title. The definition for Gay: sexually or romantically attracted exclusively to people of one's own sex or gender (used especially of a man). If you have truly repented then your no longer gay right? What is an abomination? An abomination is something that causes hate or disgust. In biblical usage, an abomination is something that God loathes or hates because it is offensive to Him and His character. The Hebrew words translated “abomination” are often used in association with things like idolatry and false gods (Deuteronomy 17:2-5; 27:15; 29:17; Isaiah 66:3; Jeremiah 32:34; Ezekiel 5:9; 11:18; Hosea 9:10). In 1 Kings 11:5, the god Molech is called “the abomination of the Ammonites” (ESV). The NIV translates it as “the detestable god of the Ammonites.” The point is that God hates the falsehood, impurity, and wickedness of these pagan gods. Occult practices are also called an abomination in Scripture, as is child sacrifice (Deuteronomy 18:9-12; 20:18; 2 Chronicles 28:3). Other abominations in God’s sight are ungodly sexual relationships like homosexuality and adultery (Leviticus 18:22-29; 20:13; Deuteronomy 24:4), cross-dressing (Deuteronomy 22:5), imperfect sacrifices (Deuteronomy 17:1), dishonest business dealings (Deuteronomy 25:13-16; Proverbs 11:1; 20:10, 23), wickedness (Proverbs 15:9, 26), injustice (Proverbs 17:15), turning a deaf ear to God’s instruction (Proverbs 28:9), and hypocritical offerings from the unrepentant (Proverbs 15:8; Isaiah 1:13). Most of the references to that which is abominable or detestable come in God’s Law in Leviticus and Deuteronomy, in prophecies declaring God’s judgment against Israel, and in Proverbs. Proverbs 6 contains a list of seven things that God calls an abomination: “There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers” (Proverbs 6:16-19, ESV). In Luke 16:15 Jesus tells the Pharisees, “What is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God” (ESV). The context of Jesus’ statement is a rebuke of the Pharisees’ love of money. He had just been teaching that a person cannot serve two masters and that serving God and serving money are mutually exclusive (verses 13-14). The Pharisees responded with ridicule, showing the blindness of a heart that revels in what God calls an abomination. Titus 1:16 says that false teachers may “claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.” Jesus and Daniel both predicted the abomination of desolation that would corrupt the holy place of the temple (Matthew 24:15; Daniel 9:27). Also related to the end times, the whore of Babylon is pictured as holding “a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries” (Revelation 17:4). She is said to be the mother of all the abominations on earth (Revelation 17:5) and identified as “the great city that rules over the kings of the earth” (verse 18). This city with all of its loathsome acts will be destroyed (verses 16-17). From idolatry to unfair scales to ungodly sexual relationships to wickedness of various kinds, abominations separate people from God. Really, all sin (missing the mark of God’s perfection) can be considered an abomination. All sin separates us from God and is detestable to Him (Romans 3:23; 6:23; Proverbs 15:9). God’s hatred of sin makes Christ’s sacrifice on the cross all the more remarkable. It was at the cross that “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21). As He suffered and died for our sin, Jesus could identify with the psalmist: “I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people” (Psalm 22:6). Jesus took our abominations upon Himself and gave us the gift of His righteousness in return. All who put their trust in Him will be saved. www.gotquestions.org/abomination.html
If God is perfect understanding then what offence could he take? He knows the reasons for all things and why we do what we do. For surely only a being without access to the whole picture could be "offended" and thus imperfect? For to take offence implies that one is suprised by, or expects something different to what ACTUALLY occurs.

Calling them "gay people" infers that they're living the lifestyle. Rephrasing it as "those who have same sex attraction" is a better way because it doesn't infer that they're living it out. For instance, I'm not a "gay person" but I do have same sex attraction. Anyone who claims to be gay and Christian at the same time simply isn't. Your shell game of terminology skirts on the edge of being wrong. While I hear what you're saying, MANY will interpret this video you made as license to live the lifestyle.
how do you deal with lust? I struggle not with same sex attraction but with alot of lust and I try to contain it through prayer and reading scripture but the more I hold it back the stronger it comes back,
But the Bible verse is clearly talking about people who ARE "living it out," thus, by your terminology, the verse is talking about "gay people," and not "those who have same sex attractions." I don't see how this video would encourage people to live a gay lifestyle since it says that the actions of doing so are abominable. Or do you think that pointing out that many sins are called abominable would minimize the significance? People will always find ways to rationalize or make excuses for sin. I don't think we need to ignore the truth of the Bible. But maybe I am not understanding what you are trying to say.

Just like how someone can have attraction (temptation) to steal or lie, it is possible to also have homosexual attraction and be a confessional Christian. However, it is not possible to engange in theft acts or deceit acts or homosexual acts (behavior), and be a Christian. ______________________ I can recommend the channel "Becket Cook". Dr. McDowell - 'iron sharpens iron', so I want to challenge this interpretation. 1. A person can't stop being a Christian. They aren't born of God by their will, therefore, they wouldn't be able to leave the faith by their own free-will. John 1:13 "born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God." It's according to God's will someone is a Christian and according to His power that He preserves them in salvation. The idea that someone stopping being a Christian is an Arminian view of salvation, which I don't hold, but I know some do so it leads to the next concern. 2. I don't think separating the behavior from the Behaver is the intent of Moses' writing nor is it the intent in the NT by the writing of Paul (ref. Rom. 1:27, 1 Cor. 6:9, 1 Tim. 1:10) and the ramification of not inheriting the Kingdom as a result of the behavior. The overarching intent of Leviticus is holiness which is representative of someones behavior so the idea would hold that it's an unholy behavior before God. I think the atheist drew the correct conclusion. 3. I don't believe any historical, conservative commentary on the passage would agree with the idea that the Bible disassociates the behavior from the person or that this particular behavior should is not an abomination. 4. The verse is bracketed by the perverted topics of incest and bestiality as well, which have also been seen historically as abominations and illegal in most any society that has a rule of law. Traditionally, that has been the view toward homosexuality and not until recently has that even been reconsidered.
ALL sin is punishable by death (Roman's 6:23). Jesus went beyond the Rabinacle laws for what constitutes sin in Mathew 5:28 to include even intentions of the heart. If I have sex with another women's husband, than I am an adulterer. And if only desired that in my mind, I still have committed adultry. Sin is sin and separates us from God. We all have sinned and fallen short of His glory (Roman's 3:23). We must admit to and grieve our sin and repent (turn from our sin) and receive the only remedy, Jesus bloody death , the only atonement! Make no excuses, no comparing, no rationalizing. But if we deny our sin (and don't call it sin) we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us (1 John 1:8). A loving and Holy God has invited us into fellowship with Him, into His kingdom for all eternity...nothing else is worth holding on to. He's provided all the power of grace to overcome and not continue in sin...whatever sin that is. (2 Peter 1:3-4). We will never regret honoring God ✝️🕊❤
@@PETERJOHN101 No that's not relevant. The trouble is a man left a life 'in Christ' because of his understanding of God's position/the Bible's position on homosexuality. Regardless of the word study of abomination or the doctrine on comparable punishment of sin, the reality is a man did not come to repentance and salvation because of the offense of God's law. He understood it clearly and rejected it because it offended him. Instead of the offense leading to humble repentance it lead him to the damning effect of self-pride. It's an error to attempt to redefine the original intent of the message in order to comfort the conscious of someone offended by God's word. The point is the definition of abomination and its obvious intent lead the man away from Christ and that in itself is an abomination and that is the trouble. All understanding of Scripture should lead to the simpliest understanding of what the author meant by what he said. The meaning of the passage is the passage and the meaning of the passage offended the man to the extinct that he reject Christ.
@@lauriefreeman3244 You are very mistaken that sexual desire is the same as lust. You have to understand the Hebrew use of these words to know what is meant by them. Coveting, for example, is not simply admiration or desire for something you see in someone else's possession. Rather, to _covet_ means you devise some means, whether by theft or deception, to acquire the property of another. Lust is exactly the same only it applies to a sexual indiscretion rather than a thing. If you elevate sexual desire to the level of intent you have only then yielded to temptation. By the way, you are not to teach biblical doctrine to others as this is a violation of your role as a female in the body of Christ.
@@davidbelcher7097 Somehow it appears I deleted my comment to which you responded, so I am repeating it below in case others may see our discussion and wonder what was said... Earlier, I said your argument fails to show how the word "abomination" should be applied to both the offender and the act. It is worth noting that in Hebrew culture adultery carried the same penalty of capital punishment as did homosexuality. This raises a more interesting question. Is there a meaningful difference between two sins that carry exactly the same penalty? p.s. None of this means that God doesn't expect us to avoid all sexual sin, he does. In fact, he expects us to keep _all_ the Commandments, not just those that pertain to sexual sin. I am, of course, not referring to traditional Jewish Rabbinical law, which are the "works of the law" Paul was referring to when he admonished Jewish believers not to substitute man-made rituals for faith in Christ. I am not sure I know which individual you are referring to in your comment, so perhaps my discussion wasn't really a response to you. Or, perhaps you are moving into a separate area of theology that is more to do with repentance and redemption. I certainly agree with you that people make every excuse imaginable to escape accountability to God.

After reading some of the comments I'm not sure how people are concluding that Sean is "separating the sin from the sinner" but rather I believe he is putting emphasis on the fact that we are all sinners and fall short of God's glory, the kingdom of heaven is not merely excluding homosexuals and letting everyone else in, and that God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked and Christ came into the world to save sinners. I can however see how some Calvinists may argue that God hates some and loves others, but even then of course under that view we cannot begin to assume we know who is elect and who is not because the bible warns against that as we are instructed to preach the gospel without partiality and of course we are no better than they are we? As clearly stated by Paul.
AMEN!!! Thank you Dr. McDowell for this message that ALL BELIEVERS should listen to! "Love the sinner, hate the sin" may be an overused cliché, but it's a Biblically backed TRUTH that so often gets overlooked. Just because God doesn't approve of the LGBTQ+ lifestyle doesn't mean that He hates those who practice it - He sent His Son to RESCUE those people. May we as followers of Christ strive to speak the truth in love to the LGBTQ+ community, treating them with kindness, respect, and dignity as fellow image-bearers of God while remaining firm in our faith and values, living our lives to honor the LORD and letting them know that there's a BETTER WAY TO LIVE - the JESUS WAY!
Nathan, have you ever heard preachers put as much energy into preaching against divorce? I didn't. It was all about the gays! The thing is Jesus said that anyone who divorces and remarries ( except for narrow reasons) commits adultery. Why are the preachers who rail against the " homosexual lifestyle" not railing against those in the church who are on their 2nd, 3rd or more marriages ? Surely God loves them but hates their adultery?
@@DIBBY40 I understand your point but there may be something about divorce you might want to reconsider. th-cam.com/video/aVY7S2UOd1s/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=MessianicTorahObservantIsrael I am not a messianic Jew but this explanation has the ring of truth to it. We lost something when the Jewish wing of the church that understood Hebrew and Torah disappeared. Yes, more teaching on HOW to remain happily married has been badly needed especially in insisting on wives submitting to husbands. If you make marriage less of a war, this would cut back severely on both divorce and homosexuality. If marriage is a mostly pleasant and stable way to experience sex and companionship, people are less likely to look elsewhere. Pastors have at least partially concentrated on homosexuality because this is where one of Satan's big attacks have been. Hetreosexuality and stable marriages have both been under severe attack from our satanic culture for at least 50 years. You defend where you are attacked. Better to prepare premptively.
@@johnbreitmeier3268 John, thankyou for the video you sent. I just watched it. It was very educational and gave me more understanding of the situation and the greek words used and Jewish understanding. I,m not sure that what the preacher said though alters what Jesus in the Matthew gospel meant. I think the main reason why Jesus said these deep, confrontational things was to get us to explore more deeply, not simply to give us another impossible command to follow. But the video you sent does show how crucial it is to understand the original languages, cultural and historical context of scriptures. To me this shows a very human creation ( inspired by the experience of the Divine, no doubt) that means we have to dig deep for its treasure using our own experience of, and connection to, God and our reason. Most evangelicals and fundamentalists seem to just to read scriptures (often inadequately translated into English) like a simplistic handbook devoid of common sense, reason and spiritual enlightenment

@Violett Fem I agree there are ways to constructively point it out...and we should. However, what I often see is that the presentation is poor and often causes division. I might add I don't think this channel is doing that. That was not the intent of my comment. If I serve someone a good meal on a trashcan lid, they probably won't want it.
The Bible says that those who bring in FALSE doctrine and sow division are doing wrong. Otherwise, Paul and other apostles/teachers that called out sin and wrongdoing would have been sinning against God. It's not how you present it, it's what's being presented.
@@ivylagrone8632 point well taken. I would say, however, that Paul's presentation was much different when he spoke to the Jews in Acts 13 than when he spoke to the Greeks at Corinth in Acts 17. The truth is truth, but the people you are addressing and the "presentation" does matter.
Baton. Legitimate discussion and argument are not a sin. Neither is pointing out error. Maliciouslt going around deliberately trying to stir up a fight for the sake of causing discord which it appears you are doing is a sin. A more modern term for that would be being a troll.
Eph 5:5-6 The sexually immoral (outlined in Lev 18) will have no place in the Kingdom of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon you. Salvation and redemption are available for all sinners acknowledging their need of a savior. True salvation, by His grace, bring change and a desire for Holiness to commune our God. The whole book of Leviticus maps out the boundaries of this relationship that gives us the privilege of being set apart as His people and He being our God. The freedom (being set free) under the covenant of choosing to be a believer, without the responsibility of obeying Gods law to commune with Him through Holiness is incomplete, meaning it’s disingenuous. Shame on you for not speaking Gods truth, consequently, setting no one free. Love is speaking truth so people can be set free to live out their purpose, not being held back in bondage. Placating to worldly culture keeps people in bondage. And a culture in bondage, due to ramped sexual immorality, leads to the destruction of a nation. Lev 18:24
I disagree with only one point and that is that he says that everyone has unique and of infinite value. That is incorrect only from the stance that the Bible never says that. That is a secular world belief rooted in woke culture. It’s found nowhere in the Bible. Salvation is not rooted in taking you as you are. Salvation is you giving up who you are to follow Christ.
It seems like a lot of the objections in the comments are oriented around what it means to “be gay”. I would definitely infer that he is using the term to mean “a person who experiences same-sex attraction” - whether or not they act on it. If a child comes out as “gay”, you (probably?) wouldn’t assume they were in a gay relationship. I would think that it’s most likely that they’re talking about their sexual “orientation”, not how they’ve acted on it so far. We can’t necessarily control who we’re attracted to. We need to be clear that being attracted to the same sex, or to another person’s spouse, or being tempted to look at pornography, or any kind of temptation, is “only” temptation. It’s not a sin. It’s not an abomination. That question depends on what we do with the temptation.
You can definitely control who you’re attracted to. You must use self control when it comes to lust or any other sinful activity. No it’s not sin to be tempted, but it’s what you do with the temptation. If you choose to follow the temptation it becomes sin. If you rebuke and shun temptation it is not sin.
@@danielcoleman3395 Thanks for your clarifications. I would perhaps define attraction differently from you, and would say attraction is a kind of temptation, and lust might be entertaining those attractions in particular ways, which is where it becomes sinful. I would say we have a lot of control in some ways over how much temptation we experience or are exposed to, but we can’t necessarily prevent it entirely.
I guess I can see what you mean by attraction is a type of temptation, but I would say that lust is more the temptation, because it’s driving you to desire or to crave sexual gratification. Whereas attraction is just act of being drawn to by physical beauty, but lust is the action by which you are tempted.
@@danielcoleman3395 how would you define “attraction”? Is it merely “temptation”, or is it itself sinful in some way? E.g. is “attraction” between a single man and single woman sinful? If so, is there a different sense in which a man and a woman might somehow be drawn towards one another, possibly causing them to decide to marry, without necessarily sinning in any specific way?
@Matthew Fearnley Being tempted is to be drawn to take an action. Whereas being attracted, while it may have a similarity to temptation, means to be drawn to. Lust is the action of allowing temptation to grow into the desire for sexual gratification. In regards to a man being attracted to a woman or vice versa. That’s how anyone, at least in today’s world even ponder marriage. In order to pursue a soul mate there must be an attraction. Like I said, attraction is just a drawing to, not and a drawing to take action.
look at the whole section, not just the one verse. he literally just spent like 20 verses describing all these many different types of women that you shouldnt sleep with, like dont sleep with a woman that is close kin (followed by a huge number of explicit examples because that apparently wasnt enough for some reason), or dont sleep with a woman that is another mans wife, etc. then at the end of all that, this verse comes up and he basically says just like with a woman, you shouldnt do these things with a man either. like, no incest with other men, or, no adultury with other men, etc. in the context of the previous verses, I really dont see how it could be read any other way. and thats literally all he's saying. the whole section is about not committing adultery or incest with women and then in one verse he says all of this applies with a male just as it does with a woman. its not a condemnation of male relationships in general, just specific types of relationships, both male and female. as with most things related to scripture, people like to use only as much context is needed to support their agenda. for homophobes and homophobic organizations, the amount of context needed here is precisely zero, to the point that they even go so far as to isolate the verse.
@@zenyattamondatta7757 I definitely know some people who are afraid of gay people. I know, it sounds stupid, but not any less so than hating gay people. but you do have a point in that its weird that we tend to call people who _hate_ gay people the same thing as those who _fear_ them. not sure if there is a specific word for a person that hates gay people though... aside from idiot...
EXACTLY!! and ancient Hebrew was perfectly capable of saying men shouldn’t lie with men and that being understood, but that’s not what it said, it refers it back to the male on male equivalent of all the male/female relationships that has just been described. People use this to condemn same sex relationships and it’s just gross! The same goes for the New Testament passages people like to flock too with words we can’t even accurately define. We know pederasty was common in Paul’s time, so are we actually to believe that the issue of same sex loving couples is a bigger issue than sexual child abuse, because you can’t have it both ways, I mean come on!! We know Christ loved the “little children,” which to my mind means there is more worry about out their abuse than those in same sex loving relationships. I will die on that hill, because the God I love who is all good and completely just is certainly more aggrieved with sexual abuse than those who are in committed relationships.
Owning slaves and telling how to treat them, selling your daughters to slavery, killing your child, killing nation and keeping small virgin girls for pleasure etc. Can bring a lot to you of that garbage. :)

When I read Leviticus, it seems to ... well, rate sins. Some sins were punishable by death while others by being cut off from their people. There a different consequences dependent on the sin itself. God wanted to purge this behavior from his people, in one way or another. In the New Testament, we are to love these people but not associate with them. Jesus can change people from the inside out. No one else can. So, love your neighbor and pray for them. Then let Jesus do what he came here to do. God bless.
“For the wages of sin is death…”. Rom 6:23…you can attempt to separate the behavior from the perpetrator, however that will never excuse sin and it’s cost.
A person’s sexuality is not a hobby, but a fundamental part of who they are as an individual. Saying an expression of that sexuality is an abomination IS saying they as individuals are an abomination. Like if a verse was to say “looking out at the world through blue eyes is an abomination”, it would not be an effective excuse to say “well people with blue eyes aren’t an abomination, it’s just when they don’t wear a blindfold when they sin. It’s their action of looking around, not them personally, that god forbids.” You’re still demonizing a fundamental characteristic of them as an individual.
Being with the Body of Christ mature brothers and sisters have taught me that I need Christ much as more as they need him to. We need to consider our ways and always remember that those who struggled what we use to fall into we can help them to get out of it, by shepherding.

My confusion with Leviticus is how many things are listed as abominations such as seafood that lacks fins and scales (Leviticus 11:10-12) all insects except for locust, crickets and grasshoppers (Leviticus 11:20-23, Leviticus 11:41) eagles, ossifrage, and the osprey (Leviticus 11:13) other biblically unclean animals or touching certain things,(Leviticus 7:21). Also with mixing fabrics, their could be certain fabrics people have seen allergic reactions too which is why it was listed as an abomination as well. Some of these things I think may have been based on hygiene and safety and risk as opposed to moral behaviour. Like people are allergic to shellfish where known to die very painful deaths, it could be that male on male sex acts similarly at the time had a higher risk of STD spread, but that was not fully understood at the time which is why it's written. So either they linked morality to sexuality on the basis of a perceivedd judgement of god not to do it. Or the ambonations where just a list of laws at the time that where made as their where observed risks of behaviour and to miniize the harm of the risks they where killed to stop the spread of the STDs that where not fully understood at the time. Like how Leperacy was seen as a punishment by god in the old testament. Considering this, can we consider these things to actually be moral laws, or hygine laws, which where made to protect the population overall similar but in a more harsh manor that the department of health would do today? I have also heard also that 18:22 by some scholars it has been mistranslated and was referring to sex acts against a child, which does counteract this idea somewhat but of course should be punishable by death. But it does not fully follow the trend of essentially these abominations that where an ancient form of preventative healthcare albeit exessively harsh in the consequences of not following some of the amboninations. Which leads to pork maybe being incredibly risky to eat back in the day, which is why many religions are against eating it, originates from it being a high risk food causing disease due to older farming practices being unsafe leading to higher incidences of parasites. Also a lot of the sex things listed as abominations most contextually are around either adultery or incest. Adultery is bad for the community so obviously is made not legal, incest is bad as it leads to producing unhealthy offspring. Which kind of furthers my idea that Leviticus is reffering to specific laws at the time that were set out for the health and safety of the specific community. They make sense, but some things at the time may have been mistaken due to a lack of understanding as to why something is bad. With the exception to adultery, although nowadays it's just looked at badly, incest is still taboo for obvious reasons, but with added power dynamics the victim of incest and SA would likely be forgiven today. As morality regarding consent has progressed from back in those days. Just an interesting thought tbh. But if they are hygine laws does this mean they are moral laws? If not what does this mean in homosexuality assuming the translation is correct suggest? Are their places in the bible contextually outside of the abomination laws that also suggest a moral failing? I know their are some about having children and multiplying, but not even all straight couples are tragically incapable of having children. But other than that I am not certain myself.

Abomination is translated from the Hebrew word "toevah" which means taboo and is present in the Torah 210 times but is not always translated as "abomination."
@Mr. Rich B.O.B taboo=cultural rule; abomination=hated thing. Not the same thing. The two words can apply to the same thing, but the two words are not the same thing. Just because ancestor translators treated them as the same word does not mean they are correct. And they are not. 🤷
@Mr. Rich B.O.B Hebrews had other words for hated things, and yet called many things toevah that were not translated into the word "abomination." with many taboos, only a few were called abominations in English.

I understand what you are saying, and I agree. However, I think you might be missing an important part of this issue. You are arguing from the standpoint of separating the person from the behavior. Yet that absolutely falls apart when you encounter someone who is GLBTQ+ and truly believes that their behavior defines who they are and who they are defines what they do. They do not make the same separation as you do. So, you are still saying they are an abomination. I’m not saying you are wrong, I’m saying there are a few more steps that need to be addressed before the “step” you present is ready to be considered or even taken. If I’m missing something, please let me know. Thanks and God Bless!
I get what your saying. There's a difference in the mindset that we are dealing with at the onset. Non affirming have the mindset of who you are sexually attracted to is *what* you are, not who. Affirming will say who you are sexually attracted to is *who* you are, not what. We are automatically disagreeing on the level of importance. I say this as people tend to put who you are on a higher level than what you are. Both are of course important in how you live your life, and what labels you put by each guides how you go. We also need to make it clear when we say homosexuality is a sin we are looking at the sexual act itself. Since they put both the attraction and act together it's understandable to think that they are thinking we are as well. And I also understand the thought process. I'm bipolar. I was born bipolar. I cannot change being bipolar. I was "born this way" as they say. So I get it. The thing is, I do not put my bipolar as who I am. I put it as what.
That’s their problem though. Your behavior isn’t who you are. I’ve seen “gay” people one day become straight and vice-versa. So it would seem to me then that sexuality is more of a choice than identity like people try so hard to make it out to be. The act is the abomination. @JC3 Productions You've never seen anyone change their sexuality. Ever. Want to know how I know that? Because it's literally not possible. Sexuality is not ever, has not ever and will not ever be a choice. Maybe you've met people who THINK they've gone from gay to straight, but all those people have done is suppressed their homosexuality because they let religion and cult goers brainwash them into thinking it's a curse or disease that can be cured. They're living their life in denial; lying to themselves. One day, though, they'll realise they can no longer hide who they are and will be their true selves again. As for straight people "turning gay", that's also not a thing. They were either always bi-sexual, or they've spent their lives living in the closet, too scared to come out as a homosexual. Now say it with me: 👏🏻 SEXUALITY 👏🏻 IS 👏🏻 NOT 👏🏻 A 👏🏻 CHOICE 👏🏻 The sooner you and everyone else learn that, the better for humanity it will be.

For Christians who feel Calvary wipes away the need to keep the laws in Leviticus, enforcing Levitical laws on homosexuals is grossly inconsistent theology.

@pastorbri in context huh? Its pretty plain and simple. Are you saying God is homophobic? Will you put the word phobic at the end of every sin to try and justify it? Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Using the very language of "gay or straight" is a capitulation to the existentialist idea that these things are identities. The equating of behavior with an identity is based in Freud and Existentialism, especially Sarte. If it is "Who I am" then it cannot be a fault or be criticized. After all God made us "who we are" right. Biblical language however does not speak in anything like these terms. It is all behavior and we see from Paul that "some of you were once like this." meaning it cannot be an identity at all, but merely a behavior only. Stop using the identity laced language of those who justify their behavior in such terms. The biblical language and terms are just fine.

But where are homosexuals called abominations? They're not. Their actions are. That's the point. People are always valuable as image bearers of the living God. But our actions are abominable. Same thing with homosexuality. You must commit the act to be one. But I must be careful because you can still have the desire to be one while not committing the act.
Why did God destroy sodom and gomorrah? Did he only destroy the behavior, or did He destroy the people who wouldn't change. 1 Corinthians 6:9 tells us that there is no place for wicked in heaven including men who sleep with men. Scripture is really clear about this. Really really bad doctrine Sean.
God judges people for their actions. But the people themselves are not called abominable in scripture. Their actions are. Which is why they are judged for said actions and not simply for being who they are. If you murder someone, you're a murderer. You will be judged for your act of murdering, not for having the label of murderer.

Genesis 19:1-11
That evening the two angels came to the entrance of the city of Sodom. Bring them out to us so we can have sex with them!"
So Lot stepped outside to talk to them, shutting the door behind him. "Please, my brothers," he begged, "don't do such a wicked thing. Look, I have two virgin daughters. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do with them as you wish. But please, leave these men alone, for they are my guests and are under my protection."
"Stand back!" they shouted.

That evening an old man came home from his work in the fields.
We have straw and feed for our donkeys and plenty of bread and wine for ourselves."
"You are welcome to stay with me," the old man said. Here, take my virgin daughter and this man's

Romans 1:18-32
But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness....
1 Corinthians 6:9-11

I struggle not with same sex attraction but with alot of lust and I try to contain it through prayer and reading scripture but the more I hold it back the stronger it comes back,
But the Bible verse is clearly talking about people who ARE "living it out," thus, by your terminology, the verse is talking about "gay people," and not "those who have same sex attractions."
I don't see how this video would encourage people to live a gay lifestyle since it says that the actions of doing so are abominable.

I can recommend the channel "Becket Cook". He is a former practicing sodomite and is now a Christian.

You are very mistaken that sexual desire is the same as lust.

Somehow it appears I deleted my comment to which you responded, so I am repeating it below in case others may see our discussion and wonder what was said...
1 Corinthians 2:12-14, "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

By the definition of things that are an abomination in Proverbs chapter 6, wouldn't Christians who are constantly arguing with each other over things like this, be an abomination because they are "sowing discord among brethren"?

EXACTLY!! and ancient Hebrew was perfectly capable of saying men shouldn’t lie with men and that being understood, but that’s not what it said, it refers it back to the male on male equivalent of all the male/female relationships that has just been described.

Saying an expression of that sexuality is an abomination IS saying they as individuals are an abomination.

@Mr. Rich B.O.B false.
I often say it's not people I hate but what they do including myself. We know as believers that our fight is spiritual and the devil ,that sneaky pardon my french, sob ,is always planting seeds of doubt, sexual immoral thoughts, judgement towards others etc... But God in his infinite wisdom and grace has given us the sword of the spirit, scripture, and more importantly the advocate, holy spirit to guide our very steps..Because of God's great love for us, He's given us freewill to choose and has given us every tool we need to follow and grow in/with Him.
I lived a life of sin, selfishness etc.. but by his grace, mercy and countless prayers of my wife and family I've made my choice... JESUS ‼️‼️‼️‼️much love to all 🤟✝️🙏🔥🔥🔥💪🏼
so we should hate love if its LGBT but not if its heterosexul?
If you identify with your persona of being gay, that’s on you, but this explanation of the verse was correct.
The same thing goes with people who lie. Everyone has lied at least once...you definitely have. So are you an abomination? hmm...

@@PETERJOHN101 I'll start here...
We receive the gift of eternal life (John 10:28), not temporary life. Someone who is born again (John 3:3) cannot be “unborn.” After being adopted into God’s family (Romans 8:15), we will not be kicked out. When God starts a work, He finishes it (Philippians 1:6).

Yes, but being gay and participating in homosexual intercourse will not prohibit one from the salvation of christ. Laying with another man and telling a white lie are both detestable sins. If all of these detestable acts condemned us to hell, then nobody would be met with salvation upon death. We all lie. We've probably all stolen in some way. A friendly reminder that homosexuality wasnt understood in bibtical times.

Just found your channel after watching a vid where you pretend to be an atheist to some kids. Your content is educational, edifying and awesome chief. Thank you!!🙏🏾
God is who God is. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The only way to truly know God is to read the Bible and pray. You will find that you agree with God on many things. You will also find that you may disagree with God on some things. This is where faith comes in. Is the God you believe in the One true God? Is God always right and have your best interests at heart? Or are your interests more important than what God says? That is up to you. That is the choice he gives you.
@HANUNIJA5 I agree with a lot of what you say but disagree with some aspects of it. The mark of the beast will be an obvious decision to choose or reject God. This vaccine is not that choice. There are vaccinations given all over the planet every day. Why is this vaccination suddenly the mark of the beast? The mark will be a choice.
You're preaching to please man & not God. Why are they called gay? It's because of the act. So I don't really know what you're trying to prove but it's either a yes or no. There's no shady area when you follow Jesus & walk with the Lord.
True 🙌🏽
But where are homosexuals called abominations? They're not. Their actions are. That's the point. People are always valuable as image bearers of the living God. But our actions are abominable. For instance, when it says "Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord", it's not saying liars are an abomination, but lying is.

@Dr. Sean McDowell You can’t commit the act without the actor. Just like you would call someone who kills a murderer. If they haven’t murdered then you would call them one. 1 Corinthians 6:9 tells us that there is no place for wicked in heaven including men who sleep with men.

{Jeremiah 9 vs 3,5}
This is a very effeminate and squishy reading of scripture. Ultimately this is why many atheists and nonbelievers know the bible better than an average Christian. In their rebellion they reject what is clearly written. Furthermore ever sin listed in Leviticus 18 is an abomination because it is outright rebellion against God's design. Whether you want to disassociate the behavior from the person or not, it's a moot point when the person identifies as their behavior/sin. Thus Paul writes, as some of you were.
The word translated into abomination is "toevah" which means taboo, which appears 210 times in Hebrew in the Torah, though the word abomination does not.
