We used to ride bikes just like that in the 80's. They were called mountain bikes. Drop the pressure down to 35 psi and you'll be golden. Mind you, the day after a race I'd wake up and every joint in my body would click and pop 😂 Drop back on a full sus on the same route and you'll fly.
Haha I used to ride rigid bikes when I first started riding too I think they were 26x2.0 tires. Brings back memories rattling around hahaha! I figured my pressures were a tad high but they are 700x40 tires.. so I figured higher pressure and protect the wheels a bit more. The FS will feel like a comfy couch! I bet you would be sore the next day! No suspension at race pace wouldn’t feel too good after haha. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I got into mtb 30 years ago on a full rigid cannondale m500 and while the excitement of mtb overshadowed the many jarring rides that comes from riding a full rigid w/26 in tires can bring, I felt a bit of flashback trauma watching your vid 🤣
Haha likewise, I got into it maybe 20-25 years ago on rigid mtb’s, v brakes, 26” wheels as well. It was a blast from the past. That last trail I rode “the muff” has been around since the 90’s as well. Cool to see where mtb was and where it is now!
Haha yeah it was a little rough in spots! My mtb’s are definitely more enjoyable on the downs but I gotta say I was surprised how much fun the flat trails were on this bike.
Does this bike go as fast as you can pedal on downhills and is the 1-10 drivetrain have plenty of gears for both. I like to ride fast so just curious. Thanks!
Depends on the hill and how fast your legs spin. We have a pretty decent hill close to my place, it’s about 2km long and I can hit roughly 70-75km/h. I can comfortably spin to about 50-55km/h but after that I prefer to just coast and cover the brakes. According to gear calculators the gearing the bike has (40T front ring and 11-42 cassette) will give you about 62km/h at 130rpm. That’s on smooth concrete/tarmac. In this video I’m not doing any pedalling on the downhills since it’s rough singletrack.
If the bike was all stock I could have still ridden it on all the same stuff. It would have been more hairy on the steep sections but still possible. The tires made the biggest difference.

@@ivanmtb00 no worries, I've subscribed too, happy trails ✊
Thank you! (Sorry, late reply!)
Oof that looks bumpy! Those trails look like fun though, I love some good old fast flowy trails!
Haha yeah it was a little rough in spots! They’re great trails, especially for a 10min pedal from my house.

Bumpy 😅 I think I’ll stick with the FSB lol.

Mostly about your ride rather than what changes you made to the bike.
