Enjoy!

what dropper lever is that?
It’s the PNW Loam Leaver Gen 2. I also have a 200mm Loam Dropper on it. Great combo!
Great video thanks for sharing. I was able to get out for a few spins recently, it's great to be able to ride dirt in the middle of winter
Thank you! Yeah the weather has been pretty good, I like the snow but I gotta say we’re pretty lucky to be on dirt this time of year. Happy to hear you got out too!
There's that gorgeous Norco Torrent! How are does PNW bars? I just upgraded my bars to the Renthal Fatbar with a 40mm rise. I'll be riding this weekend. I'm in South Texas so I ain't too worried about snow and ice. ha ha. That's just incredible to me to see icy rivers; but I guess to you, it's just another Tuesday.
Thank you! I love the bike! I really like the bars! I like a higher stack on my bikes so the rise helps with that. Feels more comfortable on the downs for sure. The PNW bars are slick, they felt more compliant then my factory bars they use 2014 aluminum and say it’s a more comfortable metal then other aluminum bars. I’ve heard great things about the Fatbars too, I’m sure you’ll like them. That’s funny about the frozen river. I try to appreciate the little things and not take things for granted, something we have locally that’s kind of “meh” might be really interesting to someone else.
Noice!
Thank you!
Thinking about buying this bike, it’s on sale for 1500. Is that worth it?
That’s a great price! I think Jenson has these on sale as well. Its been an awesome bike over the years.
@@ivanmtb00 I am getting the newest one is it different then the one you have?
I don’t think anything has changed with the bike, same geometry and same spec so your bike will be exactly the same.
@@ivanmtb00 ok thanks
No problem!
Beautiful weather!
We have been really lucky lately! The snow has been awesome, no wind either!
Ever see snakes there?
I heard there are a ton of dens in the area but I haven’t seen any snakes on that trail. I have seen a few garter snakes on the top of the coulee and rattlesnakes in other areas but not there yet!
Always neat to see you posting videos of our local trails appreciate it!
Thank you! Trying to bring the camera along for rides but I’m also afraid things are getting a bit repetitive!
@ well I enjoy your videos, thank you!
Thank you! I appreciate it!!
Awesome run!
Thank you!!
Wow great video and review. I ordered this exact bike but in the green/teal color from the Norco website to be delivered to my lbs in Minneapolis. Can't wait to get it! One question - how many studs do the stock 4.5 tires take and what kind/size of 45nrth stud would you recommend for riding on frozen lakes in Northern Minnesota? Thank YOU
I’m not too sure how many studs the Vee’s take. I think it’s around that 240-ish, I’m pretty sure it says on their website. I went with a 4” tire because we don’t have any groomed trails locally. Kind of weird because it’s labeled 3.8 but on every website including 45NRTH says they’re 4”. My LBS advised me that the more narrow tire is a better for ungroomed trails and I agree with them. The closest groomed trail network has 3.8” as a minimum so the odd ride out there I’ll still be good on the groomed stuff. I found my Dillinger 4’s for a great price but for ultimate traction and ice the Wrathlorde seems to be the go to. They look like they would roll slowly but I bet the grip is pretty awesome. If you plan to run on groomed trails as well as the lakes double check what the minimum width is. Enjoy the new bike! I absolutely love mine!
You are ver y good
Thank you!
Schwalbe: like "Shvahl-buh" "Sh" as in "shoes" "v" as in "vivid" "ah" as in "father" "l" as in "love" "buh" as in the beginning of "book"
Thank you! I absolutely butchered that. It also doesn’t help where I’m pre-occupied riding and talking, but then again I’m just making up excuses haha
Awesome ride and hope you had a great xmas day!
Thank you! Merry Christmas! I hope you had a good one this year!
Not sure what you wear for gloves? I wear some from castelli estremo and are good only after halfway through , fingers get painfully cold in the beginning eventually warming up .
I had an old pair of Columbia ski gloves for this ride. They were worn, tinned out and torn in spots haha. They definitely have seen their day. I just got a pair of Wind River ski gloves so I’ll see how it goes. I think they will be warmer then those old Columbias. I do have a couple pairs of bar mitts (a thinner and thicker pair). The thicker pair matched with those old gloves were comfortable and warm down to -40C/F last year.
@ oh nice, thanks for the input I have a bar Columbia ski gloves too however just a little bulky for me and I do have some pogies as well but very hard to get used to it's kind of a tight squeeze in there
Did you happen to try the bike without studded tires ? Cheers
I’ve done trail rides without the studs but anything in the snow I’ve had my studded tires on. The Vee’s have been fine on dirt, the big footprint makes a ton of traction. I did a fatbike snow ride years ago on some groomed trails with regular non-studded tires. They did great for the most part. Later on on the evening things started to ice over and at the time I wish I had studs when I was looking at a downhill run we were about to head down. I aired down a bit more and made it safely but I was dabbing a lot more then my 2 friends with studded tires.
Thanks
No problem!
Just ordered an S2 from Jenson for $949👍
That’s awesome! I paid full price for mine since it was COVID when I got it. Under 1k is a steal for the S2! Your going to love the bike!
same!!
Got studded tire?
Yes, 45NRTH Dillinger 4’s
Owls like to follow along and see what mice and other critters you stir up
Ah that makes so much sense! Very cool!
☆☆☆☆☆
Wow you could literally bobsled down bobsled! So cool you had an Owl leading you down so awesome!
I was thinking it would be fun on my kids GT Snowracer! That Owl was super cool though
Bobsled?!?! I've never heard this trail called that before
Yup! It had an official name change and signage from the city/LTA. Funny story, a buddy of mine knew the original trail builder. He called it bobsled then a few months later it got the name “the Muff”.
What tires did you put on? (The 40s)
They’re Goodyear Connectors set up tubeless. I’ve been really happy with them. I ride them everything from tarmac, shale, clay/dirt singletrack and gravel roads in the area.
Thanks so much
No problem!
Awesome video ! Would i be correct in assuming old footage , as your last video was snow everywhere ? Cheers
Yes it is old footage, added the original video link on this one (it should show up on the bottom). Funny though, we had a ton of snow which was on November 27th, two weeks later I’m back on my skinny tire bikes bc the snow is 100% gone.
@ivanmtb00 wow the legend of Chinook. Lol . I'm up north no way could one fat bike today . Might get out the snow shoes tomorrow. Awesome vid
Haha yeah that chinooks can give us some pretty mild winters at times. I’ve ridden dirt in January because of them. The temperature fluctuations is tricky, we can have a week of -30C to -40C and two weeks later it warms up to 0. Snowshoes can be fun! Especially when it helps pack down trail for fatbikes haha! Thanks for the comment!
@@ivanmtb00 my mate has the exact same trance and I've had a few goes on it on some trails and I have to say they're a great bike suspension and geometry is quality 👌👌👌
Thanks! I love the bike, pedals well and bombs on the downs. I have done a ton of upgrades, overforked, -2 degree angled headset, drivetrain, brakes, etc. haha basically the only thing factory is the frame lol. Thanks for watching!
Great ride especially on non-groomed trails! What gloves are you wear that you do not get your hands cold?
Thank you! I have a pair of Columbia Ski gloves that work well to about -20C after that I move to bar mitts/pogies
Nice work riding B.B with out a crash in those conditions! I found it challenging enough riding the flats after that snow dump! How low did you go on tire pressure?! I was running 6psi front & 6.5 rear which seemed ok but maybe should experiment lower?!?! Any recommendations?
Thanks man! There were definitely parts where I was a passenger. It was fun though! As far as tire pressure goes I wish I could give you a better answer. I left the hose with about 7psi up front and 8psi in the rear. I would ride and if I wanted more grip I would air down a bit. I would squeeze the tires and just go by feel. I would also make sure the front had a bit more squish then the rear. When it was time to head back home I took Whoop-up and I pulled out my pump to air back up for the ride home. I’m not too sure how low I got but previously I have ran 4-5psi with snow like we had. It is easier getting air out then putting it in though! Start higher and go down from there
Cool thanks for the advice I guess it’s about finding what pressure works best for the conditions! It might be a while till the next snow rides! Got a couple dirt runs in last evening ridge & c.t even bobsled looked not to bad a few avoidable ice patches nothing serious! Happy riding!
Awesome! I was out the other day and bobsled was a tad too icy, must have melted a bit! Thanks for the update, I’ll be heading out again in the next couple days. Looking forward to more dirt rides, I like the snow but dirt will usually win if I had a choice! The one thing I found in the winter is matching conditions. With winter conditions changing so much sometimes I wish I was on my hardtail, or non-studded fat tires all on the same ride. Haha happy riding buddy!
Looks like fun !
It’s a blast! I just wish the trail was longer!
Awesome run!
Thanks! Such a cool trail. I remember riding it when I was a kid, there were a bunch of little drops in it but as time and weather went by it turned into flow
@@ivanmtb00 A very awesome flow!
Hi. Why the two lights on the handlebars?
I do a lot of night riding and just left them on from my last ride. In the winter it’s basically only daylight from 8am to 5pm around here.
I always look for that aqueduct in the background of your videos. Its such a landmark.
That’s awesome, it really is and you can see it almost anywhere in the valley.
Ive updated just about everything on my Torrent, but think I'm going to hang on to these Tektros. I'm that fond of them. If i ever upgrade, I'll probably go with the TRP Trail EVOs. Its no wonder why I like the TRPs; the T in TRP stands for Tektro.
They have really grown on me as well. I like the Deore’s on my Trance as well but I would say these are on par and that would be a lateral move if I went with Deore for the Torrent. If I decided to upgrade I would do the same as you and look at the Trail Evo. Maybe even go all out and get the TRP Dhr-Evo which is overkill for this bike anyways.
Another great vid! That was definitely a perfect day to ride! It’s to bad we ran into each other at the end of my day and the start of yours! I hope to cross paths again and get a few runs in! Cheers
Thank you! I’m sure our paths will cross again. I’m guessing I’m seeing your fat bike tire marks with this last snowfall?
Ya could be I was out a few times during that snowy cold spell! If this chinook continues we may be back to riding dirt soon!
Haha I know what you mean! I just hope the weather decides what it wants to do. I love riding dirt and happy with snow but this in between dirt, snow, ice, mud mix is tricky! Plus muddy trails here are impossible and not even worth it
I agree 100% ! I am happy just riding the black top on my commute until Mother Nature makes up her mind!
I agree! Wow looks like things are drying out nicely! If the mud dries up we will be good to go on the skinny tires!
What suspension are you riding? Looks like you're going pretty fast.
Thanks! I have a Suntour Aion 35 (160mm) with a PCS damper up front and a Rockshox Deluxe (140mm) in the rear. I’m really happy with the setup!
Watching this as I sit in physio wishing I was riding!
That’s too bad! Speedy recovery! At least there are things like TH-cam to scratch the itch a bit!
Miss riding in Lethbridge! Thanks for sharing all of these!
No problem! There is some pretty fun riding here. Thanks for commenting!
Damn that is a beautiful Norco. Love that orange. Yes, I have an older one (2017) and I'm going to try out those dillinger 4's this winter. Bought them last year, but we didn't have any snow here in Minnesota so didn't even mount them. Thx for the video
Thank you! My buddy has that gen Bigfoot, great bike! That’s too bad you couldn’t test out the tires last year. I’ve been really happy with them!
Yo thank you so much for telling me that passed was there I live 30 minutes away from that place In Raymond Alberta
Awesome! Raymond is super close. Taber also has a trail network. Obviously Lethbridge is much closer but it’s another option. Crownest Pass is a great place to ride as well!
Hell yeah!
I really wish the camera would do a better job on these night rides. Super fun!
Nice video thanks. I’m too old for this but I enjoyed the ride lol.
Thank you and thanks for the comment!
Gotta have a water cage for sure. Bladders i wouldn't like either. Around 3 litres is plenty. Bear spray is something we dont need here in Oz ha ha but yeah I'd freeze if i saw a bear! I don't do gels much better things to have. Great advice thanks for this video Ivan. 😊
Awesome happy it helped! Luckily I don’t have to worry about bear spray locally but only when I’m in the Mountains. I figure if I’m riding longer then 3-4 hours I’ll have to make a pit stop at a gas station or something to refuel, grab some fresh water bottles etc.
Biking this year 2024 I seen 16 bears most within 20 feet . All in city limits ! Not one was aggressive ! 26 last year !
@@garysmith643 🤯🤯
Wow that’s crazy! Closest I’ve seen riding was about 40-50ft and that was years ago.
Thanks for your video! Which tire did you have on your bike?
I’m running 45Nrth Dillinger 4 studded for winter. We got a lot of ice around here so studded tires are huge. My summer set is the VeeTire Snow Avalanche that came with the bike. Thanks for watching!
@@ivanmtb00 Thanks. I'm in the market for a fat bike for Winter riding this year and studded tires are a must. From what I have been told, the 45Nth Dillinger 4 is a great tire. Cheers
I really like them, I think 45Nrth tires are made by Maxxis but I might be wrong. They do have different levels of studs as well. There are also their other tires that are a bit more aggressive tread patterns
I almost did the same thing on that trail lol
Haha I’m not surprised! It’s a pretty fast trail until that last bit. It’s a blast though!
was this good for everyday use? i mean bike to work, enduro and trail?
@@miggygallano2857 it is a good Jack of all trades tire. I also wonder if I tried some of the softer compounds if I would be happier with them on the more trail/enduro side of things. My next set will likely be the Continental Kryptotal in Enduro/Soft but I’m also looking for a tire that will give me more confidence on the downhill side of things. If your looking for an all around tire I think the Hans Dampf is an excellent choice.
@@ivanmtb00Thank you so much for the advice..I'm building an enduro bike to use to work and play.. at first i was thinking for maxxis combo tire minion dhr(front) then aggressor(rear)
Thanks for sharing your night-time adventure ride. I often use night rides to explore as well. Have you ever ridden those trails on the North side near Pavan Park? On trailforks I see "Rocky Road" and "The Last Dab", but I have never been up there. Wondering if you ever have..?
@@jordanwalker2000 I rode out that way a few times what I was a kid just exploring pre Trailforks and iPhone but never recently. I keep meaning to give it a go and head up that way. A friend of mine rode some of the trails in the area and said they’re fun but I’m not sure if they were the ones on Trailforks either. One day I’ll head that way and I’ll be sure to grab the GoPro
Has the sunset earlier here in New England, I decided to buy a light so I can maintain my exercise through the week I don't think it's for me I don't know what the hell is behind me and off following me and it trips me out to say the least it is still a fun don't get me wrong I can't tell if it's something in the woods rumbling the leaves or if it's just my tires, but I can't say enough good things so far about the outbound lighting Evo
That’s too bad but totally understandable. I’m lucky where I don’t have to worry too much about animals as much as other places. Bears and other large animals that can kill you are extremely rare but we usually get a couple Cougar sightings a year and the odd Moose so they’re around but more worry free. Lots of rattlesnakes but I usually only see them on hot summer days. Those Outbound lights are sick!! Doing a night ride with someone else might help if your thinking of giving it another shot.

Im mesmerized by those orange handlebars. I've sprinkled orange all over my Rocky Mountain.
Awesome! I’m digging the orange theme on the bike. There are too many all black bikes out there these days!
Думаю, что Dual Sport 2 больше подошел бы для такого катания.
For sure! But I thought I would give it a try for fun. I have a couple mountain bikes too that are ideal for this riding.
Too close for comfort nice save!
Thanks! Yup that was a humbling moment haha. Things worked out pretty good there!
Very lucky definitely wouldn’t of been nice to catch your face on that. I don’t know if you’re wearing a full face or not but not fun.
No full face so I’m super lucky, that could have went really bad. Really it was the best case scenario.
9:21 were those cracks on the handle bars left of the stem?
It kind of looks like it in the video but they’re just the factory PNW stickers. There are some marks on the bars, stem and even my brake but just cosmetic. No cracks, dents or anything.
You're absolutely right about those Tektro brakes. I've upgraded the forks to Marzocchi Z1 Airs, the handlebars to Renthal Fatbar (40mm rise), and added Tannus Armour Tire inserts. That's all this bike needs.
That’s awesome! It’s a great bike for sure! I have been thinking about upgrading the fork as well but so far it’s been serving me well. A Z1 would be a nice addition, I also saw Suntour has a sale on their Aion 36 which has some solid reviews too. Thanks for watching!
