At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

So Hurrem had the Captain’s daughter kidnapped to blackmail him into quitting?
    And why?
What did the Captain do to Hurrem?

He was one of Mustafa biggest supperters, in terms of power. With him there was a lot of soldiers, and he essentially controlled their ships.

@@linachater5334no he wasn't, it was the Crimean (dynasty hafsa valide Sultan belonged to) who sold hurrem to ottoman place.
Crimeans did not know that the slave they are sending will be such a problem to their princess (hafsa).

@@ojasvashishtha4453Actually, Hafsa Sultan was not a princess and if Barba was the one who kidnapped Hurrem and apart from that she was a great comrade of Mustafa

So hurrem finally admits the actual reason for 'loving ' the sultan. All she wants is to stay in power and be powerful. Which is only possible by sticking close to the source of power. She always wrapped her power hunger in the garb of love.

Hurrem did love Suleiman unconditionally until the older version of hurrem came out.
Some of their views are similar while some are in contrast which usually happen due to the longevity of power and life experiences. We do change our views the more we grow, the more we delve into daily life experiences.
After holding power for almost 2 decades, she didn't intend to lose it. Mehmet's death changed her. She became more brutal and tough. She could even hurt Suleiman for the purpose of protecting her children (sons actually) and wanted to die as Sultana. She loved him because he supported her and gave her power. If Suleiman supported mahidevran, she would love him as well but he rather made her life miserable, then why would she love such a person. We are all humans and we all are capable of love and hate.

@@ojasvashishtha4453who wouldn't not want that power especially after she lost a son? She only wants it to protect herself and her kids knowing that one was targeted and lost his life

The day her son died changed her, as she grew older she grasped that power is needed, there are many snakes in the palace and hurrem needed to adjust again in a different way

Loving him didn’t keep her safe, using the power him loving her gave her helped keep her safe-ish. You would have chosen to be murdered in year one I presume?
