    I still maintain that rally drivers are the best in the world, they have to be able to drive on tarmac, mud, snow, dirt or sand, at day or night int the sun, rain or snow, there's seemingly no end to what conditions they can drive in!

    One of the Polish rally drivers (later vice-champion of Europe) was shocked when he saw fans standing in the middle of the road for the first time (Cyprus Rally?) - "fuck, I can't see the road". More experienced colleagues advised him - "go where the most people are standing". As he later admitted - they were right. 🙂

    You STILL HAVEN'T watched a rally - just clips. A World Championship Rally event takes place over 3 days in countries all around the globe. They are run under various conditions - day / night - mud / dust - gravel / tarmac - snow / ice on special stages of various lengths. The winners often win by seconds after hundred of miles with top places measured to 3 decimal points. There is no "doing donuts to please the crowds" - it is the quickest way to carry on in the right direction.

      You don't even have to visit WRC races. There are a lot of local rally or hill climb events in almost all european countries, and they're just as exciting. And there are many classic cars still driving on smaller events.

    You should check those "notorious Group B" videos! Those cars was monsters. In this video you liked the sound of an engine. It was a group B. Like 750 hp on a rally car. That class was discontinued for safety claims...

  • @Cr4z33_YT
    @Cr4z33_YT 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    That car at 1:51 was going at an average of 200-220 km/h (124-136 mph) and they go like that even in the dark or with rain. 🤯

    • @akyhne
      @akyhne 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's absolutely not true at all. First of all, these cars can't do more than around 195 km/h. In the last 3 years of WRC1, I've only seen the speedometer go to 196 a couple of times and only when they're almost not having all 4 wheels on the ground.
      Second, they don't go at the highest speeds in corners like this. They wouldn't do more than 130-150 km/h. They don't really at all exceed 160 km/h, unless it's on a straight.

  • @Pyllymysli
    @Pyllymysli 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Life long rally fan here. You should definitely get your Group B fix. It's the era that rallying went absolutely ballistic. Way too light cars with way way too much power, all in that glorious 80's desing.... And with 80's chassis and brakes. Nowadays if you wanna follow it, WRC Rally1 is the class to go. The cars come with bonkers 1,6 liter hybrid engines that generate all and all over 450 horsepower with the hybrid on. The cars are limited to ~120mph, but you really don't understand how fast that is until you see a 4WD rally weapon screaming through forest paths. The pilots are some of the most skilled in motorsport world in my opinion (mandatory Kalle cheer of support. Go Kalle!) and the co-driver makes the races a unique teamsport in motorsport world.
    Most prestigious events to watch are probably Rallye Monte Carlo, Safari Rally and Rally Finland. Monte is a classic, mountain roads, huge drops, insane speeds. Rally Finland is probably the fastest rally on calendar, with HUGE jumps. Often referred as "The Gravel Grand Prix" rally Finland has also been on WRC calendar for over 70 years straight. Safari Rally is a classic also. A grueling test for the car and crew both, Kenya is waiting to ambush the crew with rough roads, wild animals, rocks and anything you can think of. Even finishing this event is a achievement. I should probably also mention Rally Sweden, it's the only event that is driven on snow with studded tires, and it's unique even inside rallying. These 4WD cars with studs have insane grip, and they fly through the snow with amazing rooster tails. Other great events from recent years include Rally Estonia, Poland and Central European. Rally Japan and New Zealand have also made a comeback as classic events. From the big 3 only Finland is left this year, but rallying is done almost every other weekend in the main class around the world!
    I hope you check it out!

    Hi, so the rally cars are awd witch makes them able to take hairpins and other corners sliding while being "easy" to keep on the track, also thats why the guy that whent half in the grass just continued like nothing happened, modern rally cars have strict rules concerning the safety of the crew, the roll cage has to be to the norm set by the FIA, the group1 and group2 cars are unibody cars, meaning the roof and doors are made to avoid crumpling, add to that the roll cage and you can have spectacular accidents with the crew being ok at the end, the snow tires for rally cars are studded to have some traction in the snow when there is no tarmac underneath it, there wasn't any spectacular jumps in this video but when they go over a crest, those cars go airborne for a few seconds before continuing full speed all of that makes the magic of WRC

    Please react to more rally! A couple of suggestions: as someone else said, group B, also if you want to see more of the rally in the US, check out Travis Pastrana.
    Regarding the crowds; some of these videos were on the older side, when things were less regulated (Group B, in other words. Which is why you need to check it out, it'll blow your mind ;)
    Nowadays, there are normally a lot more safety measures in place, keeping the fans in safe areas. However, it is still rally, where there isn't anything stopping you from going where you want. Having said that though, bad accidents are very rare these days.
    Happy to answer any other questions! (I'm both a co-driver, and driver....at club and a bit of state level, so haven't got anything on most of these guys!)

    wrong its not called rally18 its name is wrc rally top dog now. its probably video from 2018 rally which was wrc rally.also for people who dont know what rally is: i give you map where to go with map where is written turns obstacles etc if mistake rally car end in crash, they rarely drive same place, ussually its some town, some forest, some offroad, snow, rain night doesnt matter, they send cars with intervals someytimes they do pass each other. Driver doesnt know where hes driving, basically you can place blindfold on him nothing will change, copilot reads where driver needs to go, there is no laps and people who watch always too close. watch groub which was long ago that was smth which gave us 4wheels, composits, carbonfiber, spoilers basically eevrything we have today on cars on road comes from rally. And no there is no show only speed. as they drive on clock to win race so no there is no show, also dont forget ion rally car may drive asfalt than dirt, than again come on asfalt and again dirt. Marshal post whats that? thats your problem if rally car will crash into you, where im am in EU they give posters where not to stand and they always send safety car which gives spectators some rocks in face than they go away from road :D

For the record, when I was co-driving in a roll, I just held onto the road book, on my lap. While it wasn't a that high speed roll, I didnt feel any need to have my hands flying around. In some cases that will change.

    The reason to raise your arms is probably to protect your neck/spine in case something goes wrong.
    I don’t know if you are aware of this, but if one day you have an accident and you stay heads down, when releasing yourself, make sure that you use your arm to support your weight so that it’s not supported by your neck, since that can be very dangerous.
