As a baseball fan who is always looking for more content, this channel is a godsend. I'm so shocked how few people know about it given how high quality these vids are, the editing is incredible. Great vid :)
I'd love to see more of these. A history of Cardinal CFs, Ranger 3Bs, etc. That would be a great idea, something you could always fall back on if you can't think of anything else, there would be so many interesting stories.
That’s actually what the “Replacing..” series is gonna be but in the future I’ll more than likely expand it to be whatever position/team combination I wanna talk about. Glad you liked it!
They also got absolute monster seasons from Miguel Tejada and a few quality seasons from JJ Hardy. Orioles have a ridiculously rich history of shortstops.
Great video . Love your work. Now I must learn everything I can about Jacinto Hernandez. Edit: this is not a great video. IT IS AN ABSOLUTE FANTASTIC VIDEO. Thank you.
Great video, hope you pop off in the algorithym soon. My favorite banana facts is that bananas are sterile meaning you can’t sow seeds and grow them. Bananas are grown by cutting a piece from another plant, sort of cloning. Which means the banana you are eating today is genetically the same as the banana your grandparents ate.
David Howard was somehow on the "protected" list for the 1993 expansion draft, in favor of the organization's top prospect Jeff Conine, whom the Marlins drafted, and went on to a solid career in south Florida. Remember that spectacular diving, over-the-shoulder catch by Jim Edmonds? The batter was David Howard. It only played out that way because Edmonds was playing the weak-hitting Howard pretty shallow and had to scramble back to snag that longer-than-expected line drive to center.
favourite banana fact? probably that we now eat the Cavendish variety, but used to eat the Gros Michel which was wiped out by disease, but can still be bought in some places, and apparently tastes infinitely better than the Cavendish
As bad as Jackie Hernandez was with the 1969-70 Royals, he got a lot of playing time with the 1971 World Series winning Pirates. In fact, in a 2-1 seventh game win, he went behind second base to throw out the last Oriole in the final inning.
Man, I used to think the Twins had it bad with shortstops in their team history, but at least they got that one MVP season from Zoilo, excellent defense from Greg Gagne and All Star seasons from Roy Smalley, Christian Guzman and Jorge Polanco. Correa has been absolute crap for the Twins this year, but he’s already one of the 3-4 best shortstops in team history by default. Also Bobby Witt looks like he’s going to completely obliterate all shortstop records for the Royals going forward, they finally got a good one.
6:55 love the video and the effort, but it's pronounced "hya-keen-toe". The manager wouldve had an even harder time pronouncing the english equivalent of the name, derived from the greek name/mythological character "hyacinthus".
In the middle of his 2nd year on the Royals, and man, despite the HR, it looks questionable that he will get on base enough to ever be an above average hitter. edit: Bobby Witt. also edit: I loved this video.
Yeah his OBP is concerning at best, unplayable at worst. I’m just glad his defense his evening out there. But I was maybe too quick to call him a super star.
In most states in the north, those signs "serving white only" didn't exist. I guarantee racism existed back then in the northern states, but nothing like southern states. 99% white does not mean it's racist. I'm talking about the people, the government implemented racist laws, like redlining, etc. But everyday citizens didn't think like that, just like most Iowans don't now. Especially then, it is more about the religion of strangers that bonds you to them than their skin color. Back then, a Christian was a Christian. My grandma grew up in a house that always had 2 or 3 kids from South America who stayed with them on a study abroad program for the church. Like foreign exchange students.
Disappointed with the ending. I thought you were gonna talk about the actual shortstop of this team but Noooooo you had to cover the third baseman. Good otherwise.
His OAA this year is +13 at short. I'd like to say he's improved his defense. I'd be more concerned about his OBP. It hasn't really improved and will hinder him when his batted ball luck stops going his way.
Coming back in 20 years when Bobby has 115 WAR
Coming back in 2025 when Freddie Patek attempts an MLB comeback at age 80 Cuz that’s how he rolls
nah nick pratto is gonna learn how to play short and hit like barry bonds, trust the process
He will be Atl Brave
Coming back in 2099 when Nick Loftin has 8,301 home runs
He's getting there almost 2%!

Mark Belanger and Cal Ripken really boost that O's SS WAR
I like to think they are the inverse of the Royals
The Blade and Ironman I mean doesn't get much better.
They also got absolute monster seasons from Miguel Tejada and a few quality seasons from JJ Hardy. Orioles have a ridiculously rich history of shortstops.
"Hello, Darkness, my old friend" describes life as a Royals fan.
I prefer “bridge over troubled water” but both are apt
2 years later and Witt is currenty leading the league in WAR

Onix Concepcion took over from Washington in 1984. He hit a home run on opening day leading off the bottom of the first inning.
Really kind of No More Fielders to let And That's Baseball get a head start
Yeah he really needed it
Bill Pecota also played for the Braves and we are prolly both the only people who even know anything about him

The Royals are another piece of the puzzle that shows that an elite SS is about as needed in winning a world series as a blind dog.
Your videos are like playing Dreamcast
Oh heck yeah that’s the goal
May I ask why mike aviles 2008 season isn't mentioned? Also why no adalbarto mondesi?
I love my royals but it’s been tough since 2015 lol. At least we got BWJ.

While SS Gold glove does take in defense you should notcie the hitting stats for A-Rod, Cal Ripken, etc.

Lol I wrote this when it seemed like he was destined to be their everyday shortstop long term, but yeah his OAA had something to say about that.
