  • CLOUDWHEEL Rovers 165R Airless All Terrain Tyres - Unbox & First Ride Comprehensive Pro Review Vlog No.191
    Feat. Verreal RS Pro Electric Skateboard Motorised Skateboard Powered Skateboard Esk8 EBoard
    Today Review of Cloudwheels ROVER 165R is a mark in the eSk8 and EBoard history where a company has bought a new direction of technology in all-terrain tyres arena which is very exciting. These are the first airless foamcore all-terrain tyres to hit the market.
    “Firstly the attention to detail and craftsmanship and pure aesthetic’s of the Rovers 169R wheels is exceptional …it really is high premium product, the ride is firm smooth and very supportive in terms of rebound and cushioning … the wheels are perfectly balanced and aligned with minimal out of line tolerance. The feel would challenge and rival any pneumatic at even a much lower PSI. Couple with the firmness of the wheel you’ll get a proven better torque better sprint speed and overall better long range than its air tube tyre contemporaries. The Rubber insert is not as grippy as a regular air tyre and is more slidey which allows for some ridiculously controlled sliding… which makes for enjoyable drift affect when needed. This is a hidden secret and feature of these wheels, this combined with the added reinsurance the benefit of no punctures or tube replacement and pre pumping checks …this is a very exciting product. I can …from a Pro Rider point of view totally recommend the Cloudwheel Rovers 165R for the medium to advanced and Pro rider” - Andrew Penman ⚔️

Have an awesome day cheers Andrew⚔️

      Hey Martin, great to hear from you again yeah this was a fun video awesome 80s track from the band the Madonna first did backing vocals for the breakfast club, yeah these wheels are quite interesting they slide a little bit although I haven’t bed them properly over weeks but they provide a really nice bounce and yes, drift effect as you saw , but more importantly no punches is the best stressless ride ever lol … thanks Martin that’s a wonderful comment made my day awesome cheers Andrew ⚔️

      Hey Freddy :) 👍 great to hear from you mate keep up your enormous contribution and lightning exciting videos you’re putting out on Instagram and TH-cam 🔥🔥🔥 you’re going to be a force to reckon with, Congratulation‘s great work. Now Fred you are going to love these Rover wheels…. I love the way you slide the back out ….it’s not the way I normally ride but it’s so beautiful to watch yon film … it’s a very snowboard look and feel… but seriously you are going to just love these wheels do you can control slide them up to 15 inches in total safety with your experience you’ll be slide then probably 2 feet lol … I must say again right makes for a really exciting enjoyable euphoric drifter feeling… The best analogy so far is blindfolded do you think you are riding 90mm Evolve stone ground you would not think you’re right he nearly 7 inch wheels… it’s dam crazy … I totally understand why those guys like to drifting in cars and slide now… it’s the wheels to put on a group ride to show off …. and slide but also you’ll have no punctures and no air problems and no bloody preparation all the time, but give them a good two hours to bed in they do grip better… yeah because the front wheels hand open spokes In in between clear so you just only see the grey spokes and the back wheels look different …. But if they were black would look and match the same as the front I’m gonna spray my black next week … and I’ll show the difference before and after 👍 keep up the great work Fred look forward to talking again cheers Andrew⚔️

    • @zulupenman
      @zulupenman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey James :-) yes this is interesting I talked to the engineer about this and also did my test some people may argue that because it bounces more you’re gonna get more bounce back ….that’s incorrect think of masking tape in two tennis balls to a piece of wood and hitting it against a wall …..you’ll feel that more direct i… opposite to I f you have a pure rubber ball (foam core) and hit that timber against the wall …. It will definitely absorbs because the bounces more greater.. there’s definitely argument and I agree to have a heavy hit like a 3 inch gutter with the air tire would definitely absorb it more …would be softer silent hit …. And that extreme case a pneumatic would be better.. but…. I’m more talking about general vibrations from the road and that I can assure you the Rovers are far better with this foam core in the Rovers, it does give a beautiful smooth ride 👍 hope that helps cheers Andrew⚔️

      Hey James :-) excellent great idea with the pen, I think I’ll sprayed them with a nice black caliper paint or a primer black in one paint. It will look so much nicer the spokes on the grey will stand out just like the front wheels and match more I👍 ’ll do it before and after photos ….and then do it one of the videos to come out 👈👍 awesome cheers Andrew ⚔️

      Hey eSk8 James;) Great to hear from you good stuff. Look as I said to Andrew F if the last comment have a read of that I look pretty much answer this too …. you can’t really put a bigger 6" wheel and hub motor because there’s too much pressure on the motor itself. We are getting away with it with a 120 mm cloud donuts but that’s a sleeve which is thinner …. in terms of attaching a bigger wheel it certainly will put a lot of stress on the motor they’re not designed for them or designed for Standard thin Urethanes sleeves or at the most to 105mm or 120 Cloud donut. But let me know if it’s a four-wheel-drive hub motor setup ? If so … no problem at all we can have pneumatics on that, let me know if that’s make sense look forward to hearing from you James cheers Andrew ⚔️

    Whats the range like with them on your RS Pro. Might pick some up for mine. With 120mm clouds I get about 25-40km based on how I decide to ride and weather.

    • @zulupenman
      @zulupenman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Prism :) great to hear from you again, ok i’m actually in the process of doing the Rovers Long-Range Distance Test but I’m tipping it will get even better than the pneumatic tire the 6 inch from Verreal because the fact it’s a lot more solid and doesn’t have the flex, / spongey absorbing effect as you saw in the bounce test which is exactly reflective of the non-loss of absorption therefore you get a much tighter torque less soft resistance and obviously more kilometres and therefore greater range. I’ll have that video out hopefully in two weeks… I’m going to do a night ride in Sydney to do it over hilly terrain as well so I’ll give the worst possible scenario but I would go ahead and do it just get them if loss of range is your concern … you’ll have no worries.. will be better than the normal clouds and definitely better than a 6 inch pneumatic tyre. One thing you must be aware of these wheels do you have a bit of slide to them some give… especially initially so when you have to bed them in first for a while and after that they still give a bit of a slide under heavy carving than normal pneumatic tyre which makes for a really nice Mr Drifter feel into corners but if you want to being super grippy then just stick with your pneumatic tire. Otherwise with no punches protected this is a pretty good trade off and a dealbreaker for me I don’t want to repair anything out on the road;) stay tuned the channel Prism and will have them ready that long range in about 2and 1/2 weeks ;) have an awesome day cheers Andrew ⚔️

    Are those orange bands/tape on your thigh for visibility? Curious why you picked the rear leg as opposed to the front leg? Rear visibility? Rear leg moves more and therefore more visibility? Is that just neon duct tape? It's actually a really smart idea. Got me thinking.

    How would you compare these wheels to the airless tires of the Vestar Black Hawk?

    • @zulupenman
      @zulupenman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey David, great to hear from you, well this is such an interesting question. You know I’m a big fan of the Vestar Blackhawk I owned and rode it …it for many many months and carved like crazy on it 👍….. until….. one day “live” on Facebook I had a jacket on it got caught on the Velcro and trigger got caught … went zipping off ..straight in the Sydney harbour lost the bloody thing so pissed. But it provided an awesome entertainment… and a catchphrase in Sydney of .. what’s called now “doing an Andrew Penman” means losing a board in the water $2000 Blackhawk bloody hell, oops we got sidetracked ….LOL look completely different David it’s chalk and cheese the Blackhawk airless wheel .. while being incredibly pioneering and a beautiful design didn’t provide a lot of shock resistant on for example.. worst case..2" gutters and heavy hits you had that slight clanking noise, right ? . However these Cloudwheels Rovers have no sound at all while riding or hitting heavy bumps the only thing is if you had a 2" inch cutter you might hear a slight bump different need to a pneumatic tyre but that’s the only condition you’ll notice any difference ….. They are and I would say three times better than the Blackhawk airless tire and best of all there’s a little hidden features you can read in my other comments and that’s the rovers actually actually slides a bit under a bit of pressure and slides beautifully and controllably so you can that make for some nice stylish drifting. It’s worth every cent of the US$229 I think they are 100% a great investment..getting them but just bear in mind they do slide a bit they’re not as grippy as the Blackhawk or any normal air rubber pneumatic tyre… but having said that it is early days of a done 25 km on them Scott Davies said they do get a bit more grippy over the next 50 km, but definitely not as grippy as the Blackhawk airless tyres but three times more soft and bouncy and premium ;) hope that helps let me know any more questions they will have an awesome day cheers Andrew⚔️

      @@zulupenman Thx Andrew!!! That sucks about losing the board in the water!!!! I’m always worried when I ride next to the river trail for that reason lol. Yeah still loving the Blackhawk just the tires like you said are sooo hard and unforgiving. I’ve put pneumatics on it snd that really helped but lost a lot of range. Do you think the Rovers being soft would lose similar range? I’m debating keeping the pneumatics on but want more range without losing the comfort.

    If the Verreal rs pro is top 3, what are your other two favorite boards?

    • @zulupenman
      @zulupenman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Red723 ;) Nice to meet you thank you so much for asking and awesome question. I based my boards on reliability precision build ESC Speed controller curve and lastly …truck carving. The Verreal RS Pro not only providing an awesome bang for buck money for value price point… is by far the pretty much Goldilocks perfect Eboard for me and my style of riding which is a surfing style and is tailored beautifully for my lines …because of the slightly shorter 39" deck and the stiff non-flex deck I really love the feeling of it under my feet feels just like a surfboard. The other 2 boards would be the Tranzite Range of Direct drive of Boards that are coming out of Sydney they are literally another level again but you’re paying premium dollars $$ or those boards I have the Carbon hybrid and I can do some ridiculous carving on that board they coming out of Australian it’s the first official Aussie made product (yes not even Evolve was able to get that as most of it’s from China) it is incredible company check out the website…. And the current board I like from their fleet is the Roadster AwD … it is pretty much the perfect electric skateboard… check out my Roadster review it’s mind blowing and compared to the price they want from Evolve Hadean … you get 3 times more technology and power and far more range ..from a Roadster … The other board I like is all terrain super powerful 4WD Planetary gearing from EkeWill … I’ve got the the EkeWill GTX 4WD … The next batch down of boards would be money for value and again performance based ….my favs of the next level down … that I own and love these Boards too / BiBuff Carbon / Viper and Apache from BeastBoard / Lycaon Carbon 3.0 …. In terms of popular boards I don’t like .. … Evolve / Meepo hurricane / Zeus / Eovan / Backfire / OwnBoard / … not impressed with any of these boards they really are quite ordinary in my opinion … based on many factors I can’t go into here… I’ve ridden a lot of them that are the two powerful or bad curves .. decks too long of too bouncy .. or cheap in terms of components and all and all don’t like the feel right to carve on … but I will make a special mention for Propel it is a nice board if you’re into more off-road…. I hope it helps Red let me know if any other questions more than happy to advise more :) cheers Andrew ⚔️

      Hey Andrew F :) great to hear from you, look this is an interesting one I’m yet to talk to Eduardo but he would be able to match the gearing and get them customised for the Tranzite direct drive motors for sure, however I really do love Tranzite‘s all-terrain roadster tyres they are just beautiful, however a single rear drive drive drive motors on their own wouldn’t really work very well with these any of these all-terrain tyres it puts too much stress on the motors so you need to have the a 4WD ie the Roadster or four-wheel-drive direct drive …. to really incorporate an all-terrain larger wheel Andrew, but I love riding my Carbon Tranzite with it’s 120mm clouds that is the perfect match those Direct Drive motors but yeah if you want to go to 6" pneumatics…. maybe look at getting a second board for that purpose that’s my advice, congratulations on the Tranzite by the way it is absolutely a BMW of Electric Skateboards … Hope that helps Andrew let me know cheers Andrew⚔️

      Hey Uncle ;) Nice to meet you welcome aboard;) yeah this is a beautiful board The Roadster AWD next level kinda shit LOL okay the RS pro has got amazing battery it’s not a mollicell system but sourced from a unique factory and they do have an incredible range I got 54 km range on my RS Pro on my6" pneumatic Tyres I haven’t tested the 165 rovers (which by the way is my favourite wheel the moment big time that’s all I have on all my long range and group ride sessions) but I expect them to get a little bit more because they’re” firmer “ I did a roll test on them I did a bounce test (you can check out that in my rover review) to prove my theory I think I’m spot on…and they don’t sponge as much as a pneumatic with air so I would roughly say hmm … close to 58 km range.. these are based on my weight at 94 kg… having said that it’s crossing about Park roads etc with some times to speed goes down to maybe 15 k’s an hour for 50m or so, but all the rest the time I was on high-speed doing 38 k’s an hour average … yeah impressive range, but this will get the 70 km range with incredible torque and AWD Power, awesome uncle have a great week cheers Andrew ⚔️

    How are they on shit pavement? more or less absorbent compared to pneumatics?

    • @zulupenman
      @zulupenman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Clayton, great to meet you thanks for your awesome question. Ok this is something hard to define you need to ride it but essentially ….this is what it does …. Pneumatic feel like it’s softer as they are obviously quieter over rough ground … while the rovers obviously make a little bit more noise cause of the solidness of the tire itself, however this is where the perception ends …. I’d say actually blindfolded and ear plugs in you definitely feel the Rovers being softer spongy ride …. The only noticeable difference is when you hit a hard 2" gutter and might make more of a bang rather than a soft bounce on pneumatic tyres but that’s say front on … very minimal but more off a hit bump … but nothing like previous examples of solid airless tyres… The majority of riding on corrugated concrete footpath expansion joints paving at Manly all very rough street roads with bad bitumen … yes ..it is comes into its own it really is a beautiful ride… One hidden feature Clayton of these wheels … and it only came out when I was testing is….. the rubber grips nicely but when pushed it will slide beautifully which makes for an exciting bonus feature of these Rover 165R wheels so you can slide them in the controlled fashion even as a novice rider without falling off and it gives a really nice show pony drift affect if you want to have fun with that aspect. This is a big selling point for the wheel because until now only the Evolve Stone grounds 90mm allowed that kind of slide. Rubber pneumatics will not slide ever …unless pushed extremely hard so this is something enormously important in a quiver of Boards to have this available 👏… and once you get into sliding …..well ….you don’t go back it’s a pretty exciting feeling, hope that helps I’ll do a vibration test with a glass of water in slow motion like I did on my other videos….coming up in a couple of weeks as well as my Long Range distance improvement test on Hyperlapse… Great to meet you have an awesome day cheers Andrew⚔️

      Hey Josh, great to hear from you again, sorry for the late reply. These are incredible invention this is Cloudwheels version of a 6 inch and airless pneumatic tyres they called Rover 165 R as they have a rubberised infused edge like a regular tire but they have the traditional Clouds foam core inside the middle they’re my favourite AT wheel to ride on long-range you’re anywhere where I’m concerned I’m punctures because you can’t get any punctures or holes the tread depth looks pretty good you’ll get probably the same wear life out of them as a normal pneumatic tire. And they have a bit more grunt and power because there’s no flex from compressed air in the wheel it’s solid and it gives a remarkable bounce check my whole bounce test out. I think Yuri is discontinuing them so I get a couple of sets before they go for sure grab a set they’re amazing hope that helps awesome cheers Andrew⚔️

      Hey Zac, great to meet you thank you so much for the nice compliment. Actually I was the very first Aussie TH-camr along with Jay Boston who was doing a couple Esk8 stuff … before me there was probably only Sam Sheffer and Casey no one else was into ESk8 I think I started about the same time as the Chinese market was emerging but pretty much was doing this longer than anyone ….but one thing I did do is the first person not only from AUSTRALIA….. but from the whole world to actually review an Electric Skateboards from China and that was the Magneto board and then the Koowheel…. until then no one in the western world and actually reviewed a Chinese skateboard so, you can thank me for bringing the Chinese market to us LOL, thank you so much have an awesome day Zac cheers Andrew⚔️

      Hey Zac that’s such a awesome compliment made my week 🔥👈 I’ve had some incredible feedback now I’ve been so busy in the past trying to pump out so many videos.. I literally couldn’t get back to everybody, but the New Year now 2022s bring maybe slightly less content in terms of regular videos maybe two a month …. But higher quality better carving better music better drone much more polished production again… at least now I have lots of time to connect with my audience and my subscribers and get to chat to you guys 👍 thank you so much for noticing that….I’m able to get back to a lot of comments but now I’m making 100% effort to get back to everyone in this forum because it’s so important and rightly as you said, have a great day and an awesome weekend cheers Andrew⚔️

    The bounce test dosent really mean anything seeing as the rovers are bigger than the pneumatics

    • @zulupenman
      @zulupenman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Doobie , great to meet you thank you so much for your feedback this is exactly what I love about my channel people come in with really intelligent comments. You are spot on something I didn’t bring up was the diameter of the wheel which would increase the bounce… but only slightly ….worked it out pretty much after I uploaded it so agree that is a bit of an unfair bounce test, however here’s the thing .. even with a bigger 8 pneumatic the air BiBuff wheel ( I tested it off air) it didn’t bounce as high as the Rovers … only a tad higher than the Verreal one … so it kind of proves that the rebound on the urethane Rover clouds is far superior, … So …what does that mean? Well it’s more important terms of torque take and initial off thrust …because when the pneumatic tire takes off … under slow motion and takes the initial acceleration hit under say microscopic close up slow motion the softer pneumatic absorbs the inertia more … and subsequently has a delayed movement and therefore delayed torque takeoff and it carries through the whole curve… while the Rovers being a stronger rebound firmer wheel …like an old fashioned Superball a more dense tire at rebounds fast very fast … it’s automatically magnifies through the torque takeoff and through the curve gives it a much better quicker torque drive.. hence shown in the time run … you saw with my previous video that Verreal 6 inch or actually 5.9 inch much smaller tire only got 0.5 of a second quicker over the same distance against the much bigger 6.6" cloud Rovers… and that Verreal pneumatic had 60 PSI most I can put in it … so it’s very relevant for the torque and take off and also long-range improvement which will reflect exactly the same advantage. Ok In terms of cushioning of ride maybe not as overall improvement… not as important but believe me the Rovers does have a remarkable unusual damper affect … I hope that helps what I couldn’t explain in the video Doobie Great to meet you awesome question have a fantastic day cheers Andrew⚔️

      Hey NY;) Thanks for popping in really appreciate your feedback. And great to meet you, look this interesting one ….if you have a read of a couple of comments before this I have detailed a bit … but yes hitting a gutter front on is a lot softer with pneumatic tyre …but traditional riding on corrugated concrete and paving I found these Rovers to be very impressive the noise seems a little bit louder but the overall vibrations are geez significantly reduced from the Rivers opposed to a 60 PSI air tyre … these are very deceptive they work like a dream very impressive.. however they do slide a little bit so if you’re into sliding or drifting they are a beautiful addition to your quiver…. The only thing that comes close is an evolve stoneground wheel 90 mm are used to supply the two years ago.. . I actually a bit addicted to them now like snowboarding I hope they bed in more and get a bit more grippy but time will tell but all in all later Vids … Trader off for me us 2 fold .. one ..from no punches and not having a pump air all the time it’s it’s a win-win for me ;) two .. and the more important one for me.. better torque off the mark you definitely don’t lose any sponging of the rubber tube and take off so they going to be quicker off the mark and you will get a better range because they’re solid wheel my don’t have softer spongey resistance like an air tyre which under Slow Mo flattens and flexes … i’ll give you guys an update on the range test next fortnight till then stay safe thanks for popping in and give us your feedback greatly appreciated great to chat cheers Andrew⚔️.

    I do not recommend these wheels are much worse than the basic wheels with inner tubes. No grip, even on asphalt, they are only suitable for driving straight without sliding. Feet hurt after driving 100m. Tragedy on grass sand ankle 0 Traction 0 Cushioning Tragedy For $50 I might pick it up. Don't buy it's not worth it!!! Sh.t
