CLOUDWHEEL Rovers 165R Mini Review & Efficiency Test

- In today's video, I test out the Cloudwheel Rovers to see how efficient they are. In addition to that, I chat about my opinions on the wheels in different categories of wheel experience.
The Cloudwheel Rovers are an interesting new design from Cloudwheel, combining the large size of traditional pneumatic tires, with the construction and materials of the traditional Cloudwheels. the Rovers use a plastic wheel hub, surrounded by the outer foam-urethane layer.
In this video, I used the Cloudwheel provided 60T pulleys on my DIY setup that I use for all of the wheel tests. With a ratio of 15 to 60, I was able to have decent torque, and I think this helped contribute to the efficiency number in the end. While is important to realize that this number isn't perfectly comparable to a smaller wheel setup, where I use a 15:40 ratio, I test things for realistic solutions, and it is completely unrealistic to run a 15:40 ratio on such a ginormous wheel.
If you're curious which pulleys I have, I got the set that claims to be compatible with Ownboard Zeus / Carbon / Bamboo / etc. I will mention it in the review, but with this setup, I BARELY had enough axle length on my extended 50mm Boardnamics axles. The inner bearing on the pulley was switched to an 8mm one on my setup instead of the 9.175 one that ships with it.

Thanks for the review. Your sound is great despite the wind.
Of course! Yeah I've got a big wind muffler on it, helps a lot.
Nice review as always!
Glad you enjoyed!

*Efficiency is key!*
One of the reasons I avoid huge wheels / AT wheels is loss of range and the weight. 🤙🏼
I decided not to get these due to similar reasons to the ones you and others mention
Yeah they are hard but more efficient than pneumatics
Don't ever work as a CloudWheels representative. 😂🤣😂🤣But seriously, thanks for the honest opinion. I've tried the CW 105's and 120's. I don't like them.
Pneumatic 155 is the way to go.
Lol they sent me the wheels and I provided my honest feedback
Of course, that's what I'm here for.
Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy dopey videos dude! 👌
Thanks bro! I do my best
Sir, your mini review is nearly 20 minutes long.
Hahah woops! The nomenclature is mostly there to signify that there is not rating and no studio talking in this review
Nice Video Bro, there are soo many different opinions when it come to the Rovers, some love it some hate them the more I watch the more confused I become, I will live to give then a Tryout when you done with then and see what I been missing or not. Ttyl Brosky.🤙🏼
Lol I know it's hard to decypher what is true - everyone seems to either love them or hate them.
I'm not gonna be using em - so if you want I can send em your way to test out, and send em back when you're done
@@RBEMotion just what I was thinking. That can work. Thanks brotha. I'll get at you in the group later🙏🏽
Good info as usual. Would it be possible to give us a stats board at the end of the video? Also any chance you could weigh the wheels your reviewing. Cheers!
Thanks! Hate to put you on the edge here, but I always have the full stats board during the "full review" of wheels. I've been behind a little bit and haven't gotten to film that for these Rovers yet. Also, I think I may have mentioned it, but if not, the weight of these rovers is about 721g each.
How is the wheel bite with your hummie deck?
This is a great question. These wheels are massive. Too big for this deck imo. I didn't have wheelbite while riding, and since this is dropthrough mounted it's worst case scenario. I run 87a bushings and only while like full-tilting on it, was I able to cause wheelbite. Most setups should be okay.
Saved me from making a big $250 mistake 🙏
Haha glad I could help!
By any chance, is your opinion askew considering you ride Mountain Boards with 8 inch tires?
That is a valid point that the comfort level is not really comparable - however, I specifically put in over 100 miles per set of wheels on this Hummie setup, in order to get rid of that bias. It is fair to compare these to other tires that you'd normally find on a street board. These might include, urethane, rubber wheels, or small pneumatics. The fact of the matter is that I just would rather even ride a smaller urethane wheel (105 madwheelz for example) than the Cloudwheel Rovers.
When I talk about the Cloudwheels being less comfortable than pneumatics, I really mean the 6 inch size pneumatics that you usually find on street boards.
@@RBEMotion ty for the response. I'm used to gritting it out and don't always have the best roads. I can't wait to get mine, I'm sure they'll be a comfy mediannof PU and Pnuemue
I hope you like em!
@@RBEMotion only a day with and loving them
@@acekeianar Great to hear!
How long does the tread last?
Good question - I didn't ride them more than 120 miles and only did a burnout a couple times. If you carve a lot, the tread will wear faster. I'm not sure exactly how long it would last, but I think 200 miles is a reasonable estimate
@@RBEMotion Thanks 4 the info.
Does the discount code for B-one not work anymore? I tried RBEM and I just get an error
Weird. I just looked and apparently their affliate program is currently turned off - lame, right?
@@RBEMotion strange... Works for other creators discounts though
On B-One? Who knows, maybe there weren't enough people that used it, and it got disabled.
Does the hardness of the wheels make it last longer? Update?
I would say it should make them last a bit longer. However, I took them off the board immediately after this review. Not my favorite wheels.
They should have used a rubber type of compound with the foam core
Sounds like you want a flat rubber cloudwheel haha
I wonder if that is possible - not all materials work together, but it definitely sounds interesting.
Let's ride sometime
