Very cool video! Looks to be originally a Days Inn. In the 70's and 80's they had locations with a restaurant ( Tasty World ) Gas pumps, and a gift shop. That would be the main building up front. You don't see very many of these original Days Inns still in operation, as they started franchising out to other locations, and closing most of this type. Thanks so much for sharing! Brought back some old family trip memories.
I agree with Larry, this looks to be an original 8 Days Inn (the original name of the chain before dropping the "8" from the name. I recall the Tasty World restaurants well. I live in southern Indiana and there is an authentic Days Inn of this type that is still in operation (and is in pretty good shape I might add)!
I have watched this one a few times. I do really like these types of videos that you do. I am just starting out doing my own channel and have a long way to go. Thanks again. I hope you do more of these in the future.
about 1:27Do my eyes see a pamphlet for Cypress Gardens? Wow! Believe it might have been for the Cypress Gardens-now-turned-into Legoland, FL. (or it might have been for the one in South Carolina!) Thank you for a great vlog TikiTrex!
Wow that place is in great shape! Even some of the beds were made. I thought I saw a TV too. It's such a shame they're gonna knock it down. They should fix it up.
My Uncle worked here in the 1970's when it was a Days Inn. I remember hanging out there one day as a kid, doing odd jobs like carrying towels to rooms, etc.
So strange that some of the rooms are almost completely untouched and others are trashed. That one room so almost perfect, just needed the dresser put back up against the wall waiting for the next guest to arrive. Doesn't make sense that the place had to close down for a freeway on/off ramp and still be there after all these years. I know in California they don't mess around. Back in 1961 we were all told to move out in 1962, which our neighborhood did for a connecting freeway to the one for the Bay Bridge to San Francisco. In 1963 that whole area was torn down and the building of the freeway began in early 1964. Well, being left like that maybe gives shelter to homeless people. Again, great video.
I really enjoy your videos. I love it that you checked every room on one side, up & downstairs too. Thanks for being so precise & informative. You make me feel like I was there.
I am terrified of large pools of stagnant water. The idea of falling in scares the life out of me. Even with the fence around it I wouldn't have been able to get close enough to see the water. I give you some serious credit, you are brave. I really enjoy your videos.
The "restaurant" structure was once a Stuckey's, while the motel itself was a low-price Scottish Inn in the late 1990's-early 2000's. Passed this place many times over the years. The nearby town (Pinehurst) is all but abandoned as well.
Wonder if the City would be held liable if some kid fell into pool and drowned. Unbelievable. I'll bet there some homeless living in those locked rooms. It would be a perfect place to live until you get caught.
You know, I find it so funny that when motels close, they leave every room practically all intact. Just an invitations for homeless to take it over. Love watching your vids though!
not to be rude but if those walls could talk just think all the sex, drugs and illegal act ivies went on in those rooms, with all these people out of work you think the states would get these places and forget on and off ramps and maybe fix these up and give homeless people that fell victims to this economy we live in and give them a place for their family and help out?
There are guidelines to building homeless shelters. If they threw out the rule-books it would be faster and easier. When homeless freeze, get frost-bite and get hypothermia, it makes you wonder why it has to be this way.
To me just looking at it this was the style for Days Inn back in the 70's. They used to have Tastee World and they used to sell gas as well at some Days Inns.
This place was located off of I-75 at Exit 117 (Hawkinsville Rd.) east of Pinehurst, GA. According to the current satellite view on Google Maps, the motel has been leveled. On Street View, it still stands with all the mattresses and box springs piled up in a long row in the parking lot.
This place is set up almost exactly like a holiday inn express in pensacola I worked at. Its been recently demolished due to age and lack of buisness. Brought back a lot of memories for me. Right down to the pattern on the drapes and the furniture. You are very brave to explore these places.A can of mace would probubly not be a bad idea to have on hand.
the homeless ppl could stay in here .. what a waste.. those paintings..lamps, bed, etc... aha!!!! why didnt the owner sell them.. looks like the owner left in a hurry.. wierd..usually if some one leaves a place they will clean and sell the stuff or trash before they leave....great video ... hungry for more lol.. wish you had the time to go to each room... want to see more n more. thank you so much once again!
Definately would say Pam, if you see ceiling fans in your tours, please glance the camera over them as myself and a few others who watch your videos find them interesting, keep up the good work and just keep your video format as they are - its fine!
love the umbrella table at the end... I wonder why trade died off? It's on a main rd; You mentioned it was in a "out of the way" place, but it must have been at some time a viable business.
It wasn't in a town. It was somewhere south of Atlanta on I-75 but I don't recall exactly where now. I just saw it on the west side of the interstate in the middle of nowhere as we were headed southbound. There were actually a few abandoned hotels along the way south of Atlanta, but they were more-like empty shells.
those were cages were you could lock your children so they wouldnt get on your nerves. but it never caught on cuz you still had to feed em, plus some legal issues. great video
This was a great video tiki; I love to see lots of stuff like that...just left behind, as if the occupants just walked away. The developers must have offered cash :)
Very well covered, love the simple commentary and observations you make on this and all your videos. Curiously my six year old daughter enjoys them as well but has to hide behind me on the couch to watch:)
This motel is in Pinehurst. I can't remember the last time the motel was open, probably early 90's. I think someone rented the restaurant portion selling some wings. There is an on ramp, they are updating and expanding the interstate and making safer wider onramps. This is the oldest stretch of the interstate system. The very first piece of interstate in the U.S. was installed in Tifton, GA about 60 miles south of here.
another great find,Tiki!! loved the teddy bear and was that a baby bottle? i recall those cheesy towel racks in the bathrooms from when i was a kid traveling with my parents..lol, and the generic pictures! the contraptions on the playground looked like giant birdcages or something..wow i love abandoned motels,so much stuff left behind, really sparrks ones imagination!!
That building looks like an old Stucky's. They were mini marts with a café area, gas, touristy stuff and pecans. They were all along the major highways in the South in the 60's and 70's. I guess at some point it was turned into a motel.
We owned a nice motel/restaurant in Calif. here ..Pool, etc. It was busy until the freeway came through then, Eeerrkk!! It was called "the Voyager Inn" and was a nice stopp on the way to Palm Springs. The highway by the Comfort Inn may have spelt it's demise. Thanx for the vid.
Odd that that a few rooms out of all of them were locked. I have to admit, my curiosity would have gotten the better of me and I would have found a way to jimmy the sor break the doors in. You're a truly a woman of great integrity, Pam and true to your word not to succumb to such temptations. :) And it would have been pretty bad if someone on the highway noticed somthing like that lol.
Just had to watch again. Great video That place was a mess Looks like the typical motel in it's final days. It probably had been through a few owners over the years.
TikiTrex - I have seen many of your videos and will probably watch all others - you seem to be very smart safe and careful - just curious if you have ever gotten ill in one of these places and what kind of precautions do you take other than the masks? We went exploring of some really old farm houses and I wore my safety shoes, fully covered and the masks as well as gloves and a hat and liberal use of hand washing and sanitizing. great vids you have sparked my interest again to explore. I find myself searching google maps and looking along roadsides and down sid streets when in the country. :)
The investor in the property probably had advanced information from some political connections that the property would be torn out for a new "off/on ramp" and of which they would sell it to the State for a huge profit --- it's all in who you know !
Some of those rooms didn't look too bad, even with the beds still made. You could get a free room for the night! Just make sure the door locks so you're safe. I'd be curious to know if the closed rooms were still in great shape, or if they were occupied. Maybe occupants found keys for them at the desk or left in the rooms.
That's just what I thought. It would be easy to change those locks if you couldn't find the key as well. I'm amazed it hasn't been taken over by squatters. What really surprises me though is that all the doors are open. Why? If they were open like that for 9 years, the rooms would be much more weathered. There must be something else going on here. Worried about safety when checking out these places. Who knows what goes down there.
It seems the back was vandalized badly for the simple reason that it wasn't facing the beltway. Probably were copper thieves especially there. Your #1 Maryland fan, Lewis
love the vid awesome that the taggers and copper theifs havent been there well on the frontside i think the back would have shocked u/us as it cant be seen from the hwy :)

first comment, lol when I see these places, its strange thinking of the past and all that happened there, like families staying on the way to a vacation etc, completely forgotten sad
hi i think instead of leaving behind tv,furniture's,etc etc they can be donated to some charity homes or to homeless people but a nice inn kinda looks creepy but not bad and i like this video ur awesome tiki trex :)
Strange, as soon you read the world best New York, it sounded like there was another voice which quickly said New Yoooor, then it faded with the highway noise.
Weird that the pictures are still hanging. Nice explore! Thank you for sharing a part of your day with us!

There's so many travel guides in that rack, that it looks like someone kept coming by well after it closed & kept adding more until it exploded. Haha.
I have watched this one a few times. I do really like these types of videos that you do. I am just starting out doing my own channel and have a long way to go. Thanks again. I hope you do more of these in the future.

This is an old Days Inn, I miss the old tasty World restauants, I remember it had gas pumps in front, what a shame I love these old motels.
jason saybrook When I was a kid my parents would stay at Days Inn and eat at their restaurant.
it looks like some of the rooms are in good enough shape to stay in,thanks for the video Pam,always look forword to your videos
Hey Pam, let's have an art sale! Lol. It was nice to see no tagged walls or much vandalism.Thank you for another great video!
Wow that place is in great shape! Even some of the beds were made. I thought I saw a TV too. It's such a shame they're gonna knock it down. They should fix it up.
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
Looks like such a budget to stay there now haha. Great video. Really enjoyed this one

I wonder if someone drowned in that pool if the current owners of the property could be sued? Great videos, I love the accent.
I am terrified of large pools of stagnant water. The idea of falling in scares the life out of me. Even with the fence around it I wouldn't have been able to get close enough to see the water. I give you some serious credit, you are brave. I really enjoy your videos.
I wish you took a better shot of the pamphlets.
Ruby falls, Cypress gardens here I come!
I hope those beds are still made when I check in
That means a lot. Thanks! :)
Good video. Glad to see you back.
Ohh I am fascinated with abandoned pools, I have NO IDEA why, wonder who the last guest that entered that pool?!
I was waiting for Norman Bates to show up.
LOL wearing a wig and a granny dress
"Norman?...... Is that You?"
This place creeps out. And I don't get easily creeped out.
Completely off topic but I just love your voice :-)
I would a nice place to turn into affordable accommodation for people and even add more like wise apartments etc would be a good thing to turn it into
The "restaurant" structure was once a Stuckey's, while the motel itself was a low-price Scottish Inn in the late 1990's-early 2000's. Passed this place many times over the years. The nearby town (Pinehurst) is all but abandoned as well.
That would make a pretty decent paintball facility.
Wonder if the City would be held liable if some kid fell into pool and drowned. Unbelievable. I'll bet there some homeless living in those locked rooms. It would be a perfect place to live until you get caught.
I am amazed that all those big windows were still intact.
Looks like a place for runaway youth to sleep for the night or perhaps just live there...
You know, I find it so funny that when motels close, they leave every room practically all intact. Just an invitations for homeless to take it over. Love watching your vids though!
Outstanding Pam Love what you Do.
Wow, if those walls could talk, wonder what thee would hear haha. nice work Tiki! Keep on trucking..
not to be rude but if those walls could talk just think all the sex, drugs and illegal act ivies went on in those rooms, with all these people out of work you think the states would get these places and forget on and off ramps and maybe fix these up and give homeless people that fell victims to this economy we live in and give them a place for their family and help out?

100% agree that they should be turned into affordable housing for the people that need it
That would make a perfect duplex.
If I had to take a guess, I'd say that was a pretty sketchy place even before it was abandoned
To me just looking at it this was the style for Days Inn back in the 70's. They used to have Tastee World and they used to sell gas as well at some Days Inns.

"Too long?" We could watch this and listen to you for hours. ^_^

Better yet, a concealed weapons permit and a good .45
Great video looks pretty ransacked! I just did a video on my channel of a motel in SC with pretty the same fate. Thanks for posting

Yet another brilliant video! My grandparents had exactly the same ceiling fan @ 4:30 in our old house in Cheraw SC
closed drapes + locked door = squatter, be careful tiki

I love the ceiling fan at 4:32! Shame if this building is demolished, and the fan itself also destroyed too, sadly.
I agree 100%
This was a great video tiki; I love to see lots of stuff like that...just left behind, as if the occupants just walked away.
The developers must have offered cash :)

I bet someone was living in that locked up curtain drawn room
Haha! I'm glad to help! :) Thanks for watching!
man i know this sounds really odd and weird but i wish i had the money to buy these properties to fix the buildings up and have them going again.
Looks like all the regular functioning Budget Inns in Virginia to me lol
That building looks like an old Stucky's. They were mini marts with a café area, gas, touristy stuff and pecans. They were all along the major highways in the South in the 60's and 70's. I guess at some point it was turned into a motel.
Katrina's Creations Knitting Podcast An old Days Inn with a Tasty world restaurant.
Katrina's Creations Knitting Podcast I remember my parents stopping at Stuckys

pizza and wings with a side of soiled mattress? lol
A old laserjet 4 plus printer LOL at 2:25 almost a gurantee that would power up, built like tanks even after the place is demolished.
this place looks like you'd check in but you'd never check out!
Tiki trek do you still explore? o notice these are a few yrs. old
Odd that that a few rooms out of all of them were locked.
With a locked door, the room surely would have been far better preserved than the others and perhaps something is hidden in there...
TraditionalHymns Or someone ;) lol And yes, it wouldn't look very good to people on the highway, lol.
Thanks! Yes, it's in pretty rough shape back there.
Just had to watch again. Great video That place was a mess Looks like the typical motel in it's final days. It probably had been through a few owners over the years.
AbandonedSC Hey, thanks Jason! Yeah, it does look as though it's changed hands a lot during its lifetime.
TikiTrex love you.
It's sad that we are such a throw away society. It just seems like they could have recycled a lot of that stuff.
Man, I love your videos!! 😊
Wow, some of those rooms still look almost habitable !
Almost looks like an old Howard Johnson.
Cool vid, great tour, thank you. If you ever see the Bates Motel, RUN! LOL
TikiTrex - I have seen many of your videos and will probably watch all others - you seem to be very smart safe and careful - just curious if you have ever gotten ill in one of these places and what kind of precautions do you take other than the masks?

Hey TikiTrex, absolutely love your videos! What is the coolest or scariest thing you have found on your urban exploration?
The investor in the property probably had advanced information from some political connections that the property would be torn out for a new "off/on ramp" and of which they would sell it to the State for a huge profit --- it's all in who you know !

What kind of camera do you use? I wanna try this whole exploring abandoned places as well.
Awesome!
As I sat here watching I couldn't help but think maybe behind those locked doors there was homeless living there?
Nice Motel, thanks for filming. ;)
Looks like a great place to take a metal detector. Another great video TikiTrex, have a great day and stay safe!
Pictures were usually mounted so people staying there wouldn't steal them
I don't remember exactly, but I know it's south of Atlanta along I-75.
BTW, the ceeee for the kids were rockets, at least thats what they were at the Days Inn in Cookeville,TN... Same sett
that overgrowth going up stairs was poison sumac /bad day if you get it on you / I live in north Ga
It seems the back was vandalized badly for the simple reason that it wasn't facing the beltway. Probably were copper thieves especially there.
Your #1 Maryland fan,
Lewis
That's what I gathered as well. Thank you, Lewis. :)
You're welcome. Great minds think as like slightly greater ones (yours!) lol
Great job Tiki!!
wonder why its abandoned
Another awesome fantastic amaizing vid keep it up
This place is gone now. There are piles of rubble where it was completely demolished.
Pinehurst, GA
Yes, it is, Andy. I updated the description some time ago that it's been demolished. :)
TikiTrex Love you. 618 303 5096.
Love you. Contact me. at. 618 303 5096.
whats the weirdest thing you ever found exploring these places? how about money ever find a lot or just change?
I miss your abandoned hotel videos.
Another nice video many thanks
love the vid awesome that the taggers and copper theifs havent been there well on the frontside
i think the back would have shocked u/us as it cant be seen from the hwy :)

passed by in early Oct, 2014, it had been recently demolished.
it should be restored
i just love this hotel, I could fix it easily
The "pink thing" is a power supply box.
Strange, as soon you read the world best New York, it sounded like there was another voice which quickly said New Yoooor, then it faded with the highway noise.
