    Hi Jerika. Nice job on the hot process. One hint. If you are using sugar to bump lather, completely dissolve it in your water before you add the lye. Undissolved suger + straight lye makes lumps

      It's kind of like cooking...I like it and I like CP, too. You can use HP for liquid soapmaking, as well. The thing to remember is that you save a little of your water from the recipe to add at the end of cooking to help keep it liquid enough to mold it without a lot of air bubbles. In her case, she used yogurt as a replacement for the water from the recipe. You can also spray down the sides of the Crockpot with distilled water as you're cooking/stirring to keep it from drying out. It still has to cure for several weeks to release the all the remaining water, though.

    I love making HP soap in the crockpot. I also use yogurt. Good job. 😊 I use ph test strips to get the right ph before I put the soap in the mold.

    Hi Jerika and learned to add sugar to water and dissolve, before you add the lye, otherwise it gets chunky!

    • @JerikaZimmerman
      @JerikaZimmerman  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yup it was definitely chunky. It didn’t seem to affect the soap but it would definitely be better smoother! So I’ll try that next time.

    HP doesn't need a zap test and friends don't let friends lick soap. How you can check if its soap, take a bit and scrub it between your hands with water
    and if it lathers...you have soap!!!

    I cant get passed how it looks like ground meat haha! I made a rose clay soap like this a few years back and still have a few bars, rock hard, smelling strong as ever.....but still looks like ground meat 🤣 The lather on hot process is amazing though for sure! (regardless of them being ugly in my eyes)
    Great job, and great video!

    I love rustic soap. I use goat milk rebatch from BB and this is exactly what it looks like. It definitely isn't for any fragrance but this Rose fragrance blend you used, the clay and then the dried roses......WOW !!! Stunning - once again 🙂

    The first time I made cold process soap was with the Makesy kit, which comes with a rosewater fragrance that seized up immediately. Probably wasn't the best choice for beginners, but it did smell lovely. Maybe if I ever try hot process ill buy that fragrance again. Thanks for sharing, its maybe not as intimidating as I thought!

    I love HP and was as I starter soaping but honestly this days I used only for my shaving soaps. It’s beautiful and fascinating to be able to see the entire baseline stage right there, imo. Warning Jerika - you might get addicted to yogurt in soaps, it makes the final bars so smooth and silky and the lather is thick and dense. Love your soap and I like you didn’t stair all the time and let the soap do it things. Great job!

    I make my Gardner's Soap on a rope with the Hot Process, it is exactly the type of soap that lends itself to that rustic look. I do let it volcano and as long I stir it down and stir a lot and get the corners it turns out fine.

    Your's looks amazing I ended up throwing Mine away. LOL I used KOMBO budder and it is sooo strong my formulating was too much.lol I had so much of it from ordering from baraka but I was also tired and my back was killing me cuz I had done a bunch of products yesterday. I don't think that I will personally do hot process soap ever again lol I think it's very time consuming because of all of the different stages that it goes through and for me personally and standing over it and stirring it and blah blah blah I'm telling you my back was on fire but I also have spinal stenosis and severe degenerative disc disease so I also didn't use a crock pot I used a big pot on the stove. But yeah I got over it very quickly. I just I also started it too late. Yours looks amazing though!

    Hello, I'm sitting here thinking your soaps look huge! Wondering what the width of the soap is? I bought a cutter and had it set@ 1.25 inch. Just haven't decided the width i want for my bars yet. I was thinking 2.5 inch. But I'm indecisive.

    I make hot processed soap with goat milk. I find my soap holds the scent of the essential oils better and longer. I love hot processed also because I have littles and don’t like the idea of having raw soap batter sitting anywhere lol. I don’t use plastic wrap anymore I find it doesn’t make a difference.
