Honestly volunteer only Germany is something I play pretty regularly. I just like to focus on making a few good divisions and not worrying about the big picture
If you want a challenge, look up Germany's current standing professional army, and only have that number of mobilized troops. I'd advise having a research tree up to 1990 and "research on icon click" active for actual fun though
It's not exactly same spam as before, since you actually need some gear for your units now, before unit spam was that you did it soviet style and throw unit out where every 200 guys out of 1000 man unit had a gun (logic wise). Just to fill the manpower requirement asap.
Yeah but you now have to equip them, before it was based on manpower in field, meaning that you could switch your entire army to motorised from the start, let them fill up, and get anschluss in like 1937

As fun as Hearts of Iron 4 is, there is an appeal to CKII and III. In HoI, peace is only used as a means to prepare for war and war is only used to gain territory. In CKII, wars can be used to advance your own territories, but also a relative's. During peacetime, you're always doing things besides preparing for war like family management or plotting.

What I think got me into your stuff was this ability of yours to take somthing depressing, and although that idea or thought was still depressing. The way you would talk, or protray your thoughts always made me feel better because making fun of things at least the way you used to do helped me and maybe many others cope with life. I still feel the depressed passion from the depths of hel- your heart. And i know the content gets dry somtimes but i think it would be actually decent if you went back a few years where most people wont remember and reuse bits of your older content (wich was gold btw). Reminds me of a run of my soviet run where for some reason UK attacked Iraq and Iran in 1945 so i sent a bit of volunteers there. The war lasted until 1953 and ended only when i prepared a socialist revolution in France and used another bunch of volunteers to invade Britain(The USA was allied with Liberia and Ethiopia for some reason) and it resulted in around 10 million losses for allies and i forgor how many from my side.
You should have played as italy and helped the germans to kill the soviets and the allied invansions with volunteers, would be much more fun, i know beacause i already have done that
