Germans knew molotov pact was only a temporary peace and both were gearing for war and the germans found out that the Russians would invade them by 43 . they had to invade earlier but they got delayed by a critical 6 months that was deadly to them
Ya know the Axis might have won as a result of those extra years. In so far as they took the time and presumptively coordinated between each other and filled in the gap on various elements including the eastern front nations and Italy. At the very least Germany would've been more scary.
@robosoldier11 the USSR was in the middle of their grand reorganization when the Germans attacked and thr Germans STILL failed to defeat them. Had they waited til 1943, when the USSR had planned to have finished modernizing their military, they would've lost much quicker.
Germany fought when Germany did historically because the alternative was a hyperinflation death spiral coupled with a consumer goods crisis caused by spending like half the GDP on the military. Don't spend a huge percentage of your GDP on the military kids.
Golden seems like the type of guy to run off a cliff, pause, look down, then fall.

@@ThatOneGuy8305 that wasn't the point. Allies cheated. They allowed soviets to get away with all the invasions(irl it was ignored only because Axis was a bigger active threat) and then joined a war that was declared on Axis by a New Zealand, who flipped to communism. Tbh the "soviets are a member of Allies from day 1 and did nothing wrong" spiel got old. Operation Pile and Operation Unthinkable weren't there for fun and Molotov-Ribbentrop (as well as plan to have italian invasion of Greece coincide with sovist-german invasion of Poland) existed for a reason.
They talk about rules and "historical timelines", but soviets aren't required to occupy Sinkiang in 1937, nor invade Iran in 1941.

Tbh, if I were denied Sudetenland and then embargoed as Germany, I WOULD just ignore the war and pester Allies as to why they do nothing about soviet expansion and aggression against Sinkiang, Poland, Finland, Iran, etc.
Germany then would have enough justification to not necessarily be allies with the Allies, but assist in the downfall of the Soviet Union.

@@Aurilion44 I still hold to the opinion, that if the Borders of 1914 had existed in the East, aka no Poland but direct landborder between Germany and the Soviets and Hitler had attacked the Soviets, no one in the West would have cared to do something about it. The US would probably happily have supported the fight against Communism with cheap weapons and France and Britain, while not outright helping Germany due to WW1, would have been ok with it as well.
